Jenna has been such a staple in my life. When everything is going haywire, I could always count on Jenna's vids being a highlight. A beacon of happiness. I hope she is getting rest and peace. She is sorely missed and the world is a whole lot dimmer without her light.
Julien, we love you and whether Jenna is here or taking a mental health pause, we will continue to love and support you. This is obviously such a difficult time for you both and as much as it breaks my heart, I hope that you both are able to come out of it stronger and happier. I also hope you know that if you want or need a break, we completely support you. You guys have gotten me through a really difficult time in my life (I used to watch your podcasts on the computers during school time in my inpatient unit) and been a safe haven for the dink fam to come and unwind for years. You both deserve to take some much earned mental health time to yourselves and to find the same thing you've given us for years. Your content will always be here for us, even if we just rewatch old videos, I will always laugh at your jokes and smile at your kindness no matter how many times I witness it. If posting these podcasts brings you joy, then I'm so happy we can continue to spend our Mondays with you. But if you evaluate it and realize that it's causing any sort of burden, then we will understand and support your breaks. As much as this can be sad from a missing Jenna standpoint, this is a huge silver lining bc now we get a chance to know Julien more intimately than we did before outside of his normal channel stuff. Guys, this isn’t Julian REPLACING Jenna, no-this is juliens phase at the helm. However long this is, even if it’s forever, we get a chance to see Julien create new content and shape things on the channels in his image for a bit and that’s super exciting and fresh!! Don’t get me wrong, I love dog mom Jenna and I miss her lots, but talking about how much we miss her may only add more pressure and come across as guilt tripping. Let’s just be grateful that we have a Julen and buckle down for some new content that’s a mark of a new phase. In the time we’re in, lord knows we could use a little bit of something new. 18:00 I haven’t heard Julien’s response yet but my advice from one artist to another (and an extreme perfectionist) would be to create something with the intention of it being shitty. All those things you’re told not to do? Do it. Color theory? Never heard of it. Proportions? Nonexistent. My therapist had be write out “This is going to be the shittiest BLANK ever and that’s okay” and laminate it. I’ll then keep that with me whenever doing something I feel has to be perfect. I’m not the best at it, but giving yourself the permission to be shitty has really helped me.

I big cried when I saw this podcast uploaded. I was going through a really rough time Monday and with everything going on I wasn't expecting a podcast to be uploaded. I watched it for the first time Tuesday night and I enjoyed it so much. Julien is so wonderful in the long unedited format and this podcast always has brought me so much joy. I've been watching the podcast since episode one nearly 6 years ago and Monday is something I always look forward to because of this podcast. ur advice about motivation with art rly got me. not entirely the same situation, but i played soccer for 13 years n stopped when i moved high schools the beginning of senior year. my dad was always my coach but he’d been arrested the summer before because i finally came out about my sexual abuse, and the coach at the new school wouldn’t even let me try out for the team bc i “didn’t look in shape” all while in one of the worst periods of my eating disorder. it’s been 2 years since then in im still trying to figure out how to find that love for the sport again. it’s genuinely triggering when i try, but i loved it more than anything. this was long winded n unnecessary but thank u for saying wat u did. really fuckin needed to hear that
I had a dream I ran into Jenna at a friend's gathering and I just like gave her a big hug and told her everything would be okay. There wasn't a pandemic in my dream don't come for me 😂

Idea(s):
• Maybe call it the “Join Julien” podcast for now? Not erasing Jenna at all, just showing that we respect the change and her decision and to make them feel supported.
• Ask listeners/commenters/members of the Dink Fam to send in their personally written short stories and read them (soothing to hear in your voice) - it can even be themed. Plus a great way to shout them out and help support them.
• Just literally anything ASMR related, like cutting soap or painting (I could listen to Julien read the Declaration of Independence or ingredient list from a tube of toothpaste and feel relaxed)
• Cook (like y’all did with the chili, just a simple one pot and put ingredients and instructions in the description so you are free to just talk) while giving us advice/stories from your childhood/best concerts/the story behind each of your tattoos
• Amazon reviews - either your own personal ones from cooking/workout/food products or reading the funniest ones you’ve seen
• Play apps like Episode
• Play a drinking game (responsibly, of course)
• Ariescast - just being violently and unapologetically yourself doing whatever you need for self-care

So obviously this is late, but for the person who talked about measuring their self-worth by their academic performance: I REALLY struggled with this when I was in college. It is incredibly tough to separate them when you’ve conflated them your whole life, but it is possible to do it. First off, I’ll say I’m not a therapist, a psychiatrist, or any sort of mental health professional; this is just what helped me on my personal journey. With that said, the thing that helped me most at first was shifting the focus of the sort of standard I held myself to from my letter grades to the effort I’d put into my work. Logically speaking, if I looked at an assignment and I got a B instead of an A, but I KNEW I’d done my best, that was the first step in letting go. I’d done all I could; I could literally give it no more without absolutely exhausting myself. The second thing that helped me was talking about it with my friends-peers who were also studying-openly about the fact that we were struggling with this. You’d be surprised how many people have this issue going on behind the scenes. If they’re high achievers, it might seem like their work is effortless, or that they aren’t that invested even though they do very well, but for the most part (there are some very rare exceptions; some people are just infuriatingly smart and can can finish 80 tasks in 5 seconds without blinking), people who have wildly good grades care about them-a LOT. Most people who have perfect grades in college are falling apart somewhere else-sleep, social life, mental health, etc.-and almost all conflate their grades and their self-worth. Recognizing that you’re not the only one fighting this fight is important and can help it feel like a more realistic fight, because you’ll come to find out that there isn’t some magical strategy that these people are employing that will suddenly help you do fabulously well without driving yourself into the ground. Do the best you can with your work, and look at that as the important thing. If you’re working hard and giving things your best effort without sacrificing your personal well-being, you’re doing all you can, and that’s what should be important, not the letter grade.
We are here for you Julien! You both have brought so much happiness and laughter in to my life. I am so glad jenna has you in life to support her. I don't feel worried about her knowing she is with such a good person. I am sorry you guys are going through some stuff rn but on or off line you both are loved. I am happy to be here to support you with or without jenna. Even though I love you both so much I am so happy that jenna is getting a much needed break. You both are so wonderful and I hope with the difficulties that are happening in the world that you can be there for one another. You have proven to be a true partner in this dark hour and it brings me so much ease of mind that she will be okay with you there. I will always watch and be here for you both 💖

I can’t even describe how comforting it is to see/hear Julien. I watched the Twitch video before this and it broke my heart that he thinks we don’t support him the way we support Jenna. I know one person isn’t much in the grand scheme of things, but I literally only joined Twitch to follow/subscribe as a way to show my support. So thankful he’s continuing the podcast for Dink fam ❤️ We appreciate and love you, Julen. Just as much as we appreciate and love Jenna. So happy you have each other through all of this.

Every day that I randomly remember Jenna is doing whatever the eff she wants and living her best life offline I feel so warm and fuzzy as a result. I miss her but holy shit...being okay is WAY more important than being Jenna Marbles. Love you both.

Yes! I miss her but it’s important for her to take care of herself. One day she will come back in some capacity most likely, but until then we got this Julian Solocast.
I hope Julien knows we love and care about him just as much as we do Jenna. It seems like he thinks we only care about him and his content when it’s paired with Jenna which, for me, is not true. Although I love Jenna, and I love them together, I love watching Julien by himself just as much!
