To think watching Nergi get brutally beaten to death with his own remains would fill me with such pity. Excellent run. Everyone's been saying it for a while but man the shoulder tackle is such a great addition to gs.
Can someone explain the shoulder charge to me? I am using the great sword for over 200h but i have absolutely no clue how to charge the shoulder attack haha the fighting skills in that video are absolutely brilliant
Thank you so much for this video! I've been down recently in the dumps recently with my character thinking that I should switch out of GS to a different weapon, but this honestly rekindled my desire to master the weapon.
Man this is what I needed. Knowing when to tackle is so damn important, your reads were amazing man. I just got into GS this week. I had built one in LR but didn’t care for it. Now in HR I love how much damage and how staggered the monsters get.
Excellent job fella, perfect run, What I really miss is the Lagiacrus great sword it was my favorite looking sword, hopefully they will add more nice looking builds for the greatsword
what an epic run man! nothing but respect for that. thanks for showing the set, but could you tell me the decorations you are using? would be really thankful for that. Keep up the great work!
1:55 How did he not hit you? LOL 2:45 superlucky to get his tail while he was going away That said, wow. I just started using the Great Sword and I suck at it, this run is very inspiring. Awesome job, man
Purgation's atrocity is THE reason I decided to bother with greatswords at all. Probably the sickest looking weapon in the game with that huge, sinister curved blade and golden glowing edge. Only noticed once I started using it that the spikes that make up the main blade pop out on fully charged attacks as well.
So, I'm seeing people talk about the shoulder charge usage in this video. Is anyone willing to break down what it does, and why this video did such a good job showcasing it? I obviously didn't pick up on it, but am new to MH, and really like great swords.
XxWhIpLaSh18xX Tackle makes you not flinch when getting hit. You can also cancel out of charging your sword with the tackle. The Greatsword has three different Charge attacks with the third charge attack(True Charge Slash) being the stronger than the other two combined. The tackle lets you get to true charge slash fast because it skips the other charge attacks.
I always main GS, but my muscle memory still isn't used to the idea of the shoulder charge. I really need to get better at it and incorporate it into my typical GS combos. Great vid.
Sweet baby jesus...I've been using the insect glaive since the beginning, I think I may want to put it down for a while and practice the great sword for a bit.
Hahaha...really glad I watched this video. At the point in the game where I'm fighting tempered elder dragons, and it's never even occurred to me to let TCS rock out early like that...always went all or nothing on the full charge and kept tackling thru dmg til the timing worked out.
Is it okay to drop crit draw and just get max Weakness Exploit. I heard WE is really strong but I am not sure how it works since it says 50% affinity chance?
U are a god I swear lol, I spent 6 hours trying to kill him both solo with the 1 player matchmaking to make it easier on myself and with 3 other people that were way better than me, idk how u do it but I now look up to you 😂 good run.
which GSs do you recommend before getting the nergigante one? (i mean troughtout the story mode and so) also do you think is a good weapon for a begginer of the series?
I recommend Pukei-Pukei GS, it has relatively good raw damage and it has poison, which could work against all monsters. I've used it until Nergi. I think it's a good weapon for beginner, because it's easy to use. High damage, good for hit n run tactic (if you want to learn monster's movement), can guard from monster's attack. All you need to do is charge.
Jesus Christ, it took me and my friend like 40 mins using a lance and sword and shield xD and that’s after 3 tries. Good shit man, I want to pick up the great sword but I just can’t get the hang of it without taking damage and dying
Hello there, i would like to know your opinions on what skills you prioritise when playing GS. and what kinds of mix sets to achieve those armor skills. thanks alot!
Idk truly how it works but from what I've read on r/monsterhunter, the Diablos 2 piece mastery bludgeoner(spelling?) only works on weapons that are blunt and have stun effect(hammers basically). I've not noticed it having any effect when using it. Also, nice run, I've killed Nerg about 30 times and my fastest run was only just above 5 minutes
Great video. Can you give some advice where to start from with GS? And how do you do you run and practice? Do you know all monster moves and patterns? And why you tackle so much? Thank you.
Thanks :) Where to start? My advice, go for pukei2 from iron tree. Run and practice? Just go for a quest with your GS, that's your practice Why I tackle so much? To counter monster's attack and roar
Man just wow !! GJ, thanks to you i pratice harder my combo but i have a question.. How did you pull him down with attack or shoulder tackle, i tried but never did at least...
Nice run on nergigante but I only have one question why do you only have one decoration set if its just gonna be placed on the weapon. Beta armor sets are to be used w/ decorations and you used 4 pieces of beta w/o having more decorations.
Hey nice video, just a question: why didn't you start the fight with the true combo fully charged? Or is it better to get the three hits before? (I'm trying to learn GS so I can smack with big numbers too x) )
Hey mate that was amazing, just one question. How do you shoulder charge whilst ur charging a true charge. Midway through the fight u shoulder charged into true charge which is normal but then mid way through true charge you just tackled to hyper through an attack and continued true charge after it
That was awesome. I'm new to this game and not very good but its mad fun. Were you nice when you started playing? or did you play a lot to get really good? Because I am no where near that. My fastest time was like 17 minutes solo against Nergigante. Honestly I didn't even know it was possible to do what you did until this showed up on my recommendations then I started watching more videos.
Amazing run! Btw what do you think about using maximum might? when landing fully charged slash, GS usually has full stamina so it can give around +30% affinity if I remember correctly
Guts vs. Zodd in 4k HD
Cosmic Turban my man
A man of culture i see..
Nice man
To think watching Nergi get brutally beaten to death with his own remains would fill me with such pity. Excellent run. Everyone's been saying it for a while but man the shoulder tackle is such a great addition to gs.
Thanks :D
lol
YES. The weapon is so nuanced now and much more interesting to play. It's great. This video showcased it brilliantly
Please call it by its true name, the hip check
I want to be as good with the greats word as you lol I almost have this sword/ axe
Jesus, you broke him apart and make Nergigante look so frail lol
200% Respect, that was so pro. Most speed runs don't break parts, you did it all.
I don't think a gem has ever been more deserved.
Watching this makes me realize I need to “Git Gud”
damonkeybomb same...
same...
Faceass😂😂😂
Facts learning when to shoulder bash is hard, but damn when you land those greatsword hits.
*Git* *Guts*
Awesome, great job demonstrating the shoulder charge!
Thanks :D
*great jod demonstrating the great sword
Literally I can't believe what i just saw... Great use of the hyper poise and reset to get the third attack, just wow...
Bow user here, never touched the GS, when you do the shoulder bash, you only negate de pushback (poise) or you negate the damages as well?
Can someone explain the shoulder charge to me? I am using the great sword for over 200h but i have absolutely no clue how to charge the shoulder attack haha the fighting skills in that video are absolutely brilliant
Thank you so much for this video! I've been down recently in the dumps recently with my character thinking that I should switch out of GS to a different weapon, but this honestly rekindled my desire to master the weapon.
Subscribed. New monster Hunter player here and I've gravitated towards the GS. This video showed me I need to be using the tackle WAY more.
Man this is what I needed. Knowing when to tackle is so damn important, your reads were amazing man. I just got into GS this week. I had built one in LR but didn’t care for it. Now in HR I love how much damage and how staggered the monsters get.
GS is so much more aggressive in MHW I love it.
Some of the luckiest swings I've ever seen. That swipe that missed your head by 10 pixels at 15% health... I'd have caught it.
1:55 in case anyone asks
That shit would have wrecked me
I hate you for carving out a gem from his tail............
Jorchy you can get a free one for trading in the gold wyverian print from the limited bounties
nero2108 you have to have three gold prints for one gem I thought
Christopher Lowery I didnt need three. I just got mine last night for 1
nero2108 hmm good to know. I've been struggling with vaals drop
Christopher Lowery oddly enough the hardest gem for me so far was the rathalos gem
Finaly ive found my greatsword master😆
He is indeed.
Nadzmi Abdullah he is GS senpai
Im sure you don't know about the TSC guy:)
Facts bro
Senpai
Man I knew I wanted to get Focus on my set at some point but seeing how fast you charge with level 3 focus I need to start rushing that.
Amazing video, thanks for always showing what equipment you have on.
Derek Zoolander where? I can't find it :(
Luca Paletti 3:56
Man i was happy getting this time when farming great jagras. Thats insane!
2:57 Just end me!! 😆 poor Nerg.
Holy shit man! Both horns and tail in less than 3 minutes! Best of all no rock steady mantel, you truly are the Great Sword Master!
The sound of each hit fills me with absolute joy...
Sick combos dude. Definitely learning from this!
Just got into GS for my 2nd run - yesterday stayed up till 4 AM building.
Honestly getting really better with the great sword by watching these. Thanks
great use of the shoulder tackle to close in on the distance and mitigate damage...and the ko was impressive.
I've been running weakness exploit 3, punishing draw and critical eye level 7 but that focus looks really nice. Great job!
Behold they have given hunters the most dangerous move known, the mighty Hip Check
You've gotten better and better with the GS bravo
Awesome show of skill. Especially love the tackle finisher!
It's the best feeling when a boss charges you and you time your true charged slash perfect right on the head
Excellent job fella, perfect run, What I really miss is the Lagiacrus great sword it was my favorite looking sword, hopefully they will add more nice looking builds for the greatsword
this was way better than the other 4 minute run you uploaded (no hate)
I really am about to try GS just because the gameplay looks fricking AMAZING!!!
what an epic run man! nothing but respect for that. thanks for showing the set, but could you tell me the decorations you are using? would be really thankful for that. Keep up the great work!
Thanks :)
Only attack jewel 1 on the weapon
I knew I was underutilizing the shoulder charge but the extent was much greater than I realized.
I have seen your way of the Great Sword, and now I must train to master it!
MHW should have a "Kiss in the shoulder" emote for situations like this
1:55 How did he not hit you? LOL
2:45 superlucky to get his tail while he was going away
That said, wow. I just started using the Great Sword and I suck at it, this run is very inspiring. Awesome job, man
He make it look easy 😤 i always been bad at that weapon lol
Wow dude, I tryed GS and I'm soo bad with it. Definitely will check this video more often to see the combos you use, and the "in and out" gameplay
What a legend. You didn't even bother to heal
Much respect you timed the tackle perfectly
That tackle is awesome, haven't used it like that. Total badass :D
Ok, after watching this video, I’ll master greatsword
"Greatswords are slow"... and this guy shows up.
As a Greatsword user, this made me motivated to be even better
this brought tears to my eyes beautiful bro
dat ko with the shoulder tackle though... good stuff!
Why use rathalos coil B ? For secret of ratha ? Maybe something else can be better ? I’ m looking for a good GS set
Cutting his tail like butter. Such a nice and satisfying feeling
You broke him apart rip nerdgigante good run i want to master that shoulder bash its OP
You made me wanna Greatsword main when I pre ordered
Woah you sir are my hero! Awesome skillz
So, I'm seeing people talk about the shoulder charge usage in this video. Is anyone willing to break down what it does, and why this video did such a good job showcasing it? I obviously didn't pick up on it, but am new to MH, and really like great swords.

Here I am still trying to figure out how to take out the weaker monsters with the great sword. It’s so punishing but so rewarding
Never thought I'd feel bad for nerg...
Beautifully done
I always main GS, but my muscle memory still isn't used to the idea of the shoulder charge. I really need to get better at it and incorporate it into my typical GS combos. Great vid.
*looks at timer* "I hope those are miliseconds...."

Impressive timing all around!
Good lord , my new GS guru right here
U are a god I swear lol, I spent 6 hours trying to kill him both solo with the 1 player matchmaking to make it easier on myself and with 3 other people that were way better than me, idk how u do it but I now look up to you 😂 good run.
Still watching this even with ice born I appreciate the non Air version
which GSs do you recommend before getting the nergigante one? (i mean troughtout the story mode and so) also do you think is a good weapon for a begginer of the series?
InsertKoin no!
Ive used it till nergi ( cant beat him ) and my experience is i only played the 3ds one for 5 minutes
Thanks! Which set or pieces do u recommend using for low rank and so?
The great Jagras greatsword was very effective for me up until getting the nergi one.
well done sir!GS has a such different style in wolrd
i've heard stories in some comments that you can beat nergi in 2 to 5 min. This is just brutal, bro. You just turned nergi to sandbag.
Jesus Christ, it took me and my friend like 40 mins using a lance and sword and shield xD and that’s after 3 tries. Good shit man, I want to pick up the great sword but I just can’t get the hang of it without taking damage and dying
There is 2.6 times monster health, so your run is going to be long no matter what
Hello there, i would like to know your opinions on what skills you prioritise when playing GS. and what kinds of mix sets to achieve those armor skills. thanks alot!
Focus lv2, WE max, Attack boost max, crit boost max, crit eye lv3, I think that's it, for mix, I'm still searching
Bro this is sick, especially since there's no rocksteady mantle used!
Nice run, without rock steady/temporal i approve this
Idk truly how it works but from what I've read on r/monsterhunter, the Diablos 2 piece mastery bludgeoner(spelling?) only works on weapons that are blunt and have stun effect(hammers basically). I've not noticed it having any effect when using it. Also, nice run, I've killed Nerg about 30 times and my fastest run was only just above 5 minutes
This is the first time i felt bad about watching nerg get whiped out....
S O B deserves more... lol
Great video. Can you give some advice where to start from with GS? And how do you do you run and practice? Do you know all monster moves and patterns? And why you tackle so much? Thank you.
Thanks :)
Where to start? My advice, go for pukei2 from iron tree.
Run and practice? Just go for a quest with your GS, that's your practice
Why I tackle so much? To counter monster's attack and roar
Nergigante killed by shoulder tackle... What a great skill
What is the purgations atrocity "your great sword ur using" tree rathalos?? Or nergigante plz someone answer
Jesus paint huffing crist that was devastation
I wish I could find people this badass for my nergigante runs, I tend to get people who are either unlucky or dumb. :(
Ahh the tackle like how you did a wide swing and not just true charge spam
Jesus that was so fucking awesome! Really considering using the great sword after watching this vid 😳
Preydator I see your good with the gs any tips I’m trying to get better
Sensei sensei, teach me your ways
That moment when youre not even worried about your hp..
Hey nice video, just a question: why didn't you start the fight with the true combo fully charged? Or is it better to get the three hits before? (I'm trying to learn GS so I can smack with big numbers too x) )
Because true charge take too much time, and nergi often turning back before I finished the prep.
Prey Dator Oh I see thanks a lot for the reply :)
Do you prefer this over the deviljho gs, or the other way around?
Hey mate that was amazing, just one question. How do you shoulder charge whilst ur charging a true charge. Midway through the fight u shoulder charged into true charge which is normal but then mid way through true charge you just tackled to hyper through an attack and continued true charge after it
You do a tackle during the true charge, you can keep tackling multiple times and you won't lose the true charge unless you roll out or sheath maybe.
Jesus. I was slightly curious about the great sword. I’m gonna go make one now lol
Have a like and a sub sir
Focus, Attack, and Defence is a great build for GS its what I run at the moment. I'm missing decorations for now which if effecting my build but soon
Why doesn’t his attacks hit you when your using a move
could you show me the equipment you are using
this is too good!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Could you please tell me your build, like skills, decorations, charms etc? I would really appreciate it
Could you increase the speed by stacking the demon potion + great + might seed for more damage?
I'll try that, at least until I get rocksteady mantle, let's see if under 2 is possible.
beatiful run! a very well done GS work!
and finally a run without the fucking OP rocksteady mantle...
How do you tackle twice straight into TCS? Am i seeing that right
That was awesome. I'm new to this game and not very good but its mad fun. Were you nice when you started playing? or did you play a lot to get really good? Because I am no where near that. My fastest time was like 17 minutes solo against Nergigante. Honestly I didn't even know it was possible to do what you did until this showed up on my recommendations then I started watching more videos.
gone are the ways of hit and run I guess. Shoulder time baby
my mistake was watching this before ever fighting nergigante and trying to play like this
Amazing run!
Btw what do you think about using maximum might? when landing fully charged slash, GS usually has full stamina so it can give around +30% affinity if I remember correctly
I'll try that. Still experimenting with different mix set and finding good offensive jewel for now.
