@distritochristianangeloa aint no fucking she is "morally grey" In what fucking way is she grey? She is flat out evil. What kind of fucked up logic is that? So experimenting on humans should be fine? Lets experiment on your whole family then 😋
No matter how many times people tell me she’s misunderstood, I will always hate with a passion for how much suffering she made me go through with that fucking boss fight.
She’s so misunderstood… Meanwhile she - Spikes your food where you can’t speak properly, and you only get the antidote if you do what she wants. - Touches you without permission or explanation. - Sends you to a restricted zone by yourself without telling you what’s down there. And you can’t ask since the drug prevents you from talking properly about her or the project. - Claims she would stop the situation if it got too dangerous, but you could have been stabbed or eaten by the time the monster exploded, and the explosion itself could have killed you if it were close enough to you, and she was still upstairs the whole time. The elevator ride alone was a full minute. Also didn’t she give you her identification card to be able to access the zone? So basically she lied to your face that she could even go down there to help. - Neglects her own creations. Having a hard time with emotions does not justify abuse, neglect is still neglect. Don’t make sentient living beings that love you and cry when you leave them if you’re not going to take care of them. - Makes you forget you helped her at all. So you either forget about her or you’re dead, that was your two options and she benefits the same either way. - When you tell her that the bug she never warned you about almost killed you, the most she can give you is “sorry, I’m bad at communicating.” Meanwhile she drugs you with a preventative serum that keeps you from asking anybody what to expect beforehand. - What she drugged you with and promised giving the antidote if you follow her instructions, the drug itself wore off on its own, after everything you went through, so you basically risked your life for nothing. And of course she didn’t tell you it would wear off on its own until after you did everything and came back alive. - All in the span of the 2-3 hours you knew her. The quest itself wasn’t even that long. So no, there is every reason and right not to F with her after that.
Yeah, these communities are absurdly eager to excuse the insane things characters do as being misunderstood or okay because sad backstory. Naw. This is genuinely worse than stuff that.... Certain German scientists in the early 1940s did.

@@idontspeakjapanese6289 I don’t hate her and I don’t think think she needs to be good. I just don’t like her. I suppose I’m allowed to have an opinion.
Fun Fact: The creepiest Ruan Mei dialogue for me on the train (Yes for some Trailblazer is all friendly with them after the Quest like she isn't a danger to everyone) Was when she asked if the train was passing her home world. She was thinking of Checking up her father who she said was a Sculptor. This creeped me out because I read her character story. Her Parents were both dead at the same time and this psychopath talks about checking up on her father like he was Alive.
I hate Ruan Mei as much as the mext guy I feel like how she acts when involving her parents is not indicative of her darker traits. I believe she just doesn't know how to process it and goes about it anyway she thinks is appropriate
In fairness they had a literal apocalypse to deal with, the ends somewhat justify the pile of unethical things they got up to. Ruan Mei just has a God complex
@@lordgod9958 indeed, mobius was verry unethical with her experiments, but dr.MEI's plans were inhumane, sacrificed hua's squad to test the ICHOR, the MANTIS program, she even set plans for her son's desendants with the proyect quimera and the stigma space 50k years in the future.
I think her character is awesome, mostly since I adore morally gray characters. She feels no emotion unless she discovers something that is new to her- something she, a genius, cannot predict. In the quest, her excitement talking about her Emanator of Propagation clone is the only time we see that side of her. She strives for Aeonhood because it is something she does not understand. She’s done bad things, but she’s not inherently evil. I love her because she is so complex. (My one complaint when reading criticism of her is that I always see “she made us clean up her mess!!” But… literally every character in the game does that too? We’re constantly doing stuff for other people??)
She's not simply morally grey though, take someone spiking you in real life. And then add on the extra "you must do this or else no antidote for u" It goes beyond morally grey. It's great you like her char, but yeah there's not much to defend there about her actions. Plus, most chars ask for our help, not attempt to force us to help. And Kafka would be one of the few exceptions where you could decide not to help at all.
@@hanin_gurl I get where you’re coming from, but the spiking bit to me is still relatively gray considering she doesn’t sedate us or anything. All the drug does is make us forget her, which is pretty much harmless. And yeah, that quest is a lot more “you HAVE to help” rather than “can you help?”, but like. It’s not the only quest where someone forced us to help or investigate. Take Penacony’s story, for instance: Sparkle sends us and Firefly into the “real” Dreamscape forcefully, regardless of whether or not we intended to continue investigating.
@@averagecupofcoffee sparkle is an active follower of aha, she's also not morally grey but rather leaning towards antagonist due to her only wishing for chaos. Similarly, i hated Ruan Mei because she is cryptic but its really even worse than sparkle. sparkle doesnt bother to hide her true intentions while ruan mei actively hides her intentions and even goes so far to cover her tracks. she is literally antagonist material. sparkle sent firefly and tb to the primordial dreamscape because she could, ruan mei sent tb down to fight the clone of the emanator because she literally does not give a shit (and probably because tb already does stuff for herta so she just thought she could use us too)

Both Mobius and Dr. Mei do heinous experiments in the hopes to fight against the destruction of their loved ones and humanity while Ruan Mei is doing it out of pure curiosity and self ascension. Hell, even Otto Apocalypse, who is written to be one of the most selfish characters, risked everything to save the one person he loved most whilst also giving hope to humanity as a result. MiHoYo writes villains better than I have seen elsewhere in literally any other fictional story. They don't follow the cookiecutter villain mold of "I want to take over/destroy the world for some petty reason due to my past" and actually feel human. The first full-on antagonist I've ever cried for, was Otto, during HI3rd's CG "Thus Spoke Apocalypse". That's not to say I agree with what he did, he clearly did unforgivable things, but I couldn't help but cry, as I too have lost someone precious to me. While I wouldn't do what he did in his shoes, I can empathize with Otto's grief that gave birth to his desire to bring back the one he loved most
Yeah lol. The reason some people hate her is because she drugged us, and manipulated us. And some are giving the impression they've never seen a villain before... But there are other people that don't mind if she's evil or not because of the story
To quote: “On the other hand, Ruan Mei doesn't really care about other people, or at least she struggles really, really hard with it. Her view of the world and life is incredibly warped, and she has difficulty with emotions and proper socialization. However... she never acted with malice (at least in the questline, apparently there's a lore tab where she actively tortures her creations, I haven't read it but like, I'm not gonna lie, that does not line up with her characterization in her questline). Her actions may harm others or put them in precarious situations, but it's never by her intent. Like, the Anti-Truth Serum was a major breach of trust and boundaries that's a huge red flag for a normal person, but in Ruan Mei's eyes, it was a harmless way of ensuring we wouldn't spill the beans to Herta or Screwllum and burden them with her problems. Sending us after the Emanator she created is obviously putting us at risk, but she knew about us (from watching us in the SU) and the Emanator in great detail, down to the very second. She knew the most likely outcome of the encounter would leave us safe and sound, and she openly offered to come to our aid in the event she was mistaken. In our eyes, she got us into a scrap with a dangerous bug for no reason. In her eyes, she ran a controlled experiment with all of the risks accounted for to gather data.”
I never thought she was misunderstood. Nor that she’s particularly evil. She just values science/goals more than she should.. She told us to destroy this huge bug „whopsie can you get rid of a failed experiment honey? :)“
People mistaking grey ambitions like wanting to study the Propogation as evil smh. But in all seriousness, she's not evil to me because all her actions lack malice. She legitimately just wants to study things and seems to lack the emotional capacity to even be malicious, but because they don't really go right all the time she earns an "evil" stamp.
@@tyongsung4645 She does have accountability though. She took care of the Superbug situation completely. She knew it wouldn't last a minute, she found someone who she knew who could distract the bug for that minute so it wouldn't cause damage, and the problem was taken care of just as she predicted. Lacking accountability would have been "Oh well, not my problem" and leaving the space station.
indeed, yaoshi is the one that misunderstood, it never wanted to harm other, it even warned it's follower the danger they'll received, but ruan mei on the other hand thinking of her creation as no more than her project, she didn't even feel remorsed when we nearly obliterated, I was under impression back when her help in SU is useful, but seeing her story, not hating her, but she definitely not my favorite since she's a gray character XDD
I liked her because she helps very much in SU I said "besto waifu" and was the first limited character that I got the lightcone... Ironically she fits very well with Firefly XD
This really gives me Shou Tucker vibes kinda. In pursuit of knowledge you'd do anything. For Ruan Mei, it's that image of calm, collected and level headed that makes her feel truly evil when you find out her true nature.
She is morally gray, not evil. I would be fine if she was evil, but she just isn’t. This video IS misunderstanding her… greatly. The reason people misunderstand her is they have a black and white view of morality and do not properly analyze her actions and intentions. Read the logs closely and you will see it was never her goal to cause any suffering in her experiments, that was not intentional. Failures will inevitably happen. Also, the thing that killed itself was a fragmentum creature, you should not pity it since it was mindlessly evil to begin with. The feeding of the abundance fruit was also to the same fragmentum creature, so again do not feel bad for that satanic thing. The swarm experiments she did were also not “evil”. What evil purpose was there? You act like she wanted to revive the entire swarm or something. She was simply researching Emanators since they are the closest to the Aeons which interests her. In her own words, Propogation is a more simplistic path which made it a good choice and easier to replicate. She did not pick propagation to create something evil. Ruan Mei knew the experiment was not a threat to anyone, and she was correct. The emanator died in the exact amount of seconds she predicted. No one was ever in danger. Wanting to become an Aeon is not evil. Most of the paths are not even evil first of all, only 2 are currently evil. You did not even explain the context of why she wants to become an Aeon. For knowledge… that’s it. Aeons have power but they are slaves to their paths and their decisions are basically made for them, they don’t have free will. It’s not something you become if you want to rule the universe and control everything. She is basically willing to sacrifice her own free will just for a chance to learn the secrets of life and the universe. That’s not evil. This video is gonna set back the fanbase’s understanding of her character even further lol. Does not really matter, it was already too late and it’s just a video game. I do wish content creators would look into the nuances of her character and both sides of the argument before saying she is “evil” as clickbait, though.

@foggyfrog Ratio has eight doctorates, and instead of being some megalomaniacal tyrant or a selfish researcher, he instead has used all of that skill to be a professor, a healer, and engineer. In his Keeping Up With Star Rail, it's confirmed that he solved a century long energy crisis for a whole planet, and it even shows him visiting Belobog. Ratio is an altruistic person. Sharp-tongued and mean, yes - but I mean, as a prodigy, people try to bribe/use him and probably have his entire life (as evidenced by how a guy tried to bribe him for a better grade, and Ratio quite literally, physically, threw him out). Honkai Impact 3rd Part 2 has a Ruan Mei coming soon as a villain, plus we know that HSR is the continuation of HI3 because Welt is there partly on a mission to defend that bubble universe from the sky people and partly to find a way back to his own bubble universe, so I feel like rather than us getting multiple Ruan Meis to fight against, we might be going into a multiverse battle maybe? Unless it was already somehow confirmed they are different people, but strongly doubt as this is so early
For her name, she actually talks about it in a voiceline. She says that she believes both parents holds the same significance/value so she took both surnames of her parents. In a lot of East-asian countries, it’s the norm to take on the father’s surname when a child is born or when you’re married.
I pull characters randomly in HSR, so I ended up pulling her before knowing anything about her, (also I’m like so behind on quests..) So this is a fun little treat for me- Anyways... *I can fix h-*
real like half the fanbase treats her like “i can fix her!!” but then hate sampo because he tricked us like twice even when she made us go through the storm
The thing about Ruan Mei is that she doesn't understand human emotions, she lacks the human concept of empathy, and the only thing that gives her excitement is doing her tests, there are charavters like this, Yukari Yakumo is an example. Saying she is evil is overblown, if she was evil, she would be trying to hurt us deliberately, we know she wouldn't do that because she sees us as a unique variable like she saw in the simulated universe, she feels that we may be able to give some results to her research that she didn't predict, but everything did go as planned, which is why she is so apathetic at the end. She is the definition of a sociopath, it doesn't make her a bad person, it just makes her very weird This does make you wonder, what the hell is Nous smoking when he chooses his Emanators
Wrong. Evil takes many forms. You speak of intentionally hurting people, which usually falls into the "Chaotic Evil". There is also "Neutral Evil", which is someone who knows their work will hurt others and just doesn't give a fuck. Most mad scientists fall into this. Ruan Mei is definitely evil. She's just also a sociopathic evil.
I don't think she's worse than Kafka, girl destroys entire civilizations including happy living families who asked nothing and doesn't feel a single ounce of remorse.
The hero at the end of the story: *condemns her to a loop of suffering every expirment she put others through for enternity* Hero turns to everyone else, and kills more than half the cast that was evil: Kafka and the rest: “Why! No one will use me, or hurt me, EVER again”!!! *sets off detonator* Kafka and the rest: “What did you-“? The broken hero: “That detonator I just pressed, is set to blow up the bomb in ten minutes. Soon enough, this entire universe, will be dust in space”. Kafka: “You-“? The Broken Hero: “Yep. We’ll all die upon our Sun’s destruction. But her? She’ll be free to suffer for eternity! Meanwhile she
- Spikes your food where you can’t speak properly, and you only get the antidote if you do what she wants.

And then add on the extra "you must do this or else no antidote for u"
It goes beyond morally grey.

However... she never acted with malice (at least in the questline, apparently there's a lore tab where she actively tortures her creations, I haven't read it but like, I'm not gonna lie, that does not line up with her characterization in her questline).
Listen to her siren song my child... Go to her...
"Well I guess i couldn't do anything...but bark."
@@Pug6789 Yep. We are just gonna have to accept that the HSR fanbase is probably never going to understand morally gray characters lol. They are too accustomed to labeling fictional characters as “good” or “evil” with no in between.
Fucking finally someone gets it
Also correction Based on the logs it was a fragmentum creation That Killed itself out of depression Because It gain Some sort of intelligence and found out about its true self and killed itself
@@renflare2570 That is true, my mistake! Thank you for the correction, I should have double checked. Luckily it does not change the meaning behind the point I was attempting to convey since fragmentum creations are also evil entities. I reread the lab log and have edited the paragraph where I talked about it to relfect it being a fragmentum creature.
@@DiamonDust yeah i often see people use that Log books to justify that ruan mei is evil, which Falls off when you realized that shes a researcher and a scientist so of course shes gonna have some questionable experiment
If they want evil scientist They should Look into DR.primitive, another member of the genius society, the man is more Unhindged than anyone else other than the Annihilation gang
Finally, someone with a brain
The amount of ruan mei is innocent believers is insane.
Personally think shes insane and i dont like her
I like her BECAUSE she's insane. it's unique and interesting
Shes insane and thats what makes it fun. Kinda like Childe in Genshin.
@insertnamehere1398 its not unique or interesting. Generic ahh insane characters are so overrated
Having played the pet quest entirely, I would say she is multi-layered/complicated. There are psychopathic tendencies but also a gentleness.
Yea but shes HOT amd thats all that matters
I see double standard here. "Oh, Ruan Mei is bad. We mist let peope know"
Meanwhile: Scaramouche, Childe, Signora, Twins, Dottore, Arlecchino, Fake Albedo, Tsaritsa, Raiden Shogun(kinda). "He/She my husbando/waifu". And no one talk how bad they are, and just spit to Ruan Mei. And I can guess what people will say later.
Scaramouche didn't know any better though, so it is not entirely his fault, as he was manipilated by dottore
@@Ravens-Call you can't say that. Know and didn't know doesn't make anything different. He manipulate Inazuma people and killed people indirectly.
"But, it's Dottore fault!"
So?
This is the point why i lost respect to Genshin fans. They adore Fatui member even though they are the BAD people here. But HATE HSR character because SHE did the SAME.
@@lumineers6235 i'm not saying this as a simp(i'm not a simp), i'm saying from what I understand of the situation.
@@Ravens-Call i know. I never mean it to be you. That's why i use "they".
For what it's worth, I've seen plenty of people complain about Dottore, Childe, Raiden, and Scaramouche. 🤷♀️ some of both reactions really.
I’m sorry but her traumatic backstory does not make up for her LITERALLY TORTURING PEOPLE 💀
People will find any reason to justify ANYTHING done by a character they like
Welcome to the genius society then (herta kinda done the same with us but not entirely we also don't know much since we haven't had a good interaction with her unlike ruan mei here but looking at the lore of the genius society members we will be having a lot of mad scientists)
It's the genius society most psycopath the most human genius we met was a robot
@@Lillian_6.Hertas pretty nice just a sassy and sometimes angry person.
Ruan mei pretends to be nice to let your guard down then use you
She and Otto did nothing wrong lol
She less "evil" and more VERY TRAUMATIZED, to an extent where she's lost her empathy towards living things.
I hate how she's the character that looks the most like me. Black hair, blue eyes, fair skin...but we're so unalike. Everyone hates on Dr. Ratio, who is ACTUALLY misunderstood (not a narcissist), and literally Ruan Mei is out here doing heinous, heinous things. Abandoning the cat cakes is heartless too. ):
Fr Ratio looks like an asshole but I understand his vision. Whereas Ruan Mei is just evil
Source: in-game character bio. He's an honest, selfless, and little mean, genius. His fundamental philosophy is to cure ignorance, and he declares himself mediocre, an ordinary man, and a mundanite as opposed to a genius. Ruan Mei is just legitimately evil.
Happy new year everyone hope yall got your 5*
Thanks for ur amazing content 😊
She's Victor Frankenstein with an actual degree
Dottore and Otto standing on the side chuckling
She put the whole space station in jeopardy and could have ended many lives. All to appease her curiosity. Shes not misunderstood, shes a psychopath. She even admits not being able to understand emotions such as love. Not to mention her creations are "mistakes". No empathy, not a care for other's lives, and selfish.
Not the raiden boss theme 😂
“I love that kind of woman that will actually kill me.”
-My simp @ss
Oh she won't kill you, she'll just experiment on you till you do it yourself dw 🥰🥰🥰❤️❤️❤️💞💞✨✨/j
Imo she's not evil she's just unhinged but i wouldn't say she's just a fully good person tho😭 now if you wanna say someone is "evil" then you can look at the stellaron hunters or the annihilation gang
The Stellaron Hunters are more chaotic neutral imo
Shes fully evil. The stellaron hunters arent really evil at all. They do what they think elio wants/requires.
And elios goal is to eliminate nanook. Which would save a lot of lives regardless of if he has ulterior motives
@@Scope34 if ruan mei is fully evil then why didn't she kill everyone on the space station ?
@@electrickzy being evil and a murderer are two different things
@@electrickzyif it can help her to understand her research and reach aeonhood she will do it i bet. Genius Society is that crazy.
There’s nothing unexpected about her being evil, it’s literally the clearest thing. Firefly’s probably the most “unexpected” evil character
We have Mobius in HI3, Il Dottore in Genshin, and now Raun Mei in HSR, I love their design so much
as i saw what she said on her trailer, she wants to become aeons god damn she has the biggest red flag on hsr
Kafka. Blade.
The biggest red flag has luocha, bro literally looks like Otto. 💀
@@real_rutmen kafka is literally doing elios work and doesnt care about other things, and blade uhhh... blade is suicidal and mentally insane
@@richie_0740 Kafka & Blade literally killed people before bro
@@electrickzyruan mei tortured people to the point they killed themselves in the first opportunity they had she is definitely worse than kafka or blade
Ruan Mei is Otto bro.a maniac with highest kill points
I think calling her evil is a bit much. She is a scientist or a researcher delved into biology topics, and a lot of her 'wrongdoings' are in gray area (morally) which a lot of researchers did irl. Wanting to b an aeon I think was from the question 'can a human become an aeon?' So this is just her looking for answers. She's not evil, nor she is misunderstood. She is extremely curious.
Yep, almost people do not think like that😂😂. Bc it takes their benefits maybe 🤔
And the problem is that she don't have limits so she is consider as evil
I'm sorry but drugging the mc, manipulating and coercing them into cleaning up HER mess, an extremely dangerous mess she intentionally made that put the entire space station in danger, and then screwing around with the mc's memories to cover her tracks is NOT evil??? In WHAT universe???
@@niteyknight503she do that because her low self-esteem. To ensure mc will not betray her. She even apologize at the end. So what?
the scientists of Unit 731 arent evil they were just extremely curious 🤗
Honkai Impact 3rd Part 2 has a Ruan Mei coming soon as a villain, plus we know that HSR is the continuation of HI3 because Welt is there partly on a mission to defend that bubble universe from the sky people and partly to find a way back to his own bubble universe, so I feel like rather than us getting multiple Ruan Meis to fight against, we might be going into a multiverse battle maybe? Unless it was already somehow confirmed they are different people, but strongly doubt as this is so early
People are starting to hate her because of Firefly’s trailer.
Ah yes, genshin music with a hsr short. Great lore tho
She's got a lot of res flags, but red is my favorite color
Have you never heard of aspd in your life? Shes not doing that for enjoyment, she is a perfectly morally gray character and we need more of them
For her name, she actually talks about it in a voiceline.
A question since the dawn of time has yet to be unanswered.
"IF EVIL, WHY HOT!?"
If evil, why mommy?
money
More like granny
Didn't know there's a character that i will hate other than Kafka
To be fair every Genius Society member have their own goals and they do anything to achieve it.
Herta literally doesn't care if her worker died
real like half the fanbase treats her like “i can fix her!!” but then hate sampo because he tricked us like twice even when she made us go through the storm
She is the definition of a sociopath, it doesn't make her a bad person, it just makes her very weird
This does make you wonder, what the hell is Nous smoking when he chooses his Emanators
The hero at the end of the story: *condemns her to a loop of suffering every expirment she put others through for enternity*
Hero turns to everyone else, and kills more than half the cast that was evil: Kafka and the rest: “Why! Why did you-“?!
The Broken Hero: “I regained my memories. I saw how it all began, and I will write the ending. Everyone thought I was their pawn, to further their agendas. No! No more. No one will use me, or hurt me, EVER again”!!!
*sets off detonator*
Kafka and the rest: “What did you-“?
The broken hero: “That detonator I just pressed, is set to blow up the bomb in ten minutes. Soon enough, this entire universe, will be dust in space”.
Kafka: “You-“?
The Broken Hero: “Yep. We’ll all die upon our Sun’s destruction. But her? She’ll be free to suffer for eternity! HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH”!!!!
That’s why it is so hard to kill that giant blue bug because she created it
I loved ruan mei’s design and voice. I thought she was misunderstood.
I then did the new trailblaze quest….
And then did research on her lore.
I like her as a character in the world less but I still love the idea of a mad scientist and want to see how this pans out. This is how you make a character stand out.
