Dude I didn't know what was wrong with my 110 and I tried a bunch of different things. Then the wrench at the Honda shop said adjust the valves. On the way home I thought ... youtube. And sure enough... thanks to you my scooter scoots like new! You saved me a hundred bucks dude!
great video. Elite 110 is a great scoot. It would've really surprised me if those valves were out of adjustment. My gs500 has 10k miles and the valves have never been adjusted, and they're still exactly in-spec.
A very good video overall. I would have explained "Top Dead Center" to find the spot at which to measure and or adjust. That said your video was very darn good!
Greetings! 2010 NHX110, 28K, past 2 weeks (Daily rider) progressively more difficult to start. Once started works perfectly through all power range, idles fine. after shutdown (1 min. or 1 hour ride) difficult starting. Never had a valve-adjustment! Seems straight forward viewing your video. Replaced plug, air-filter, drive-belt (3k ago) Note* after turning over many strokes, finally it seems to clear-out/blow- by??? and it roars to life! If not valve issue, what else would you recommend? Again once running, it seems to operate smoothly with hesitation or loss of power...just a hard start.
Hi Mike. The intake valve on my 2010 Elite 110 wore down in 12,500 miles until I had no more valve clearance. I had the local shop replace it, in fact, they did a whole top-end replacement with piston and rings too. Now at 17,000 miles looks like I am losing valve clearance again. The shop tells me there is a cheap coating on the valve and it wears away. Any suggestions? Thanks in advance.
Yes, it is liquid cooled. It has a radiator and the overflow bottle is under the seat. You have to take out the small, white plastic door to get to it.
I bought honda elite yesterday to use as my deliveroo bike. What should I regularly change or check to keep her running smoothly for my delivery job. I dont know nothing about bike maintenance please help
Moses Kamara Great news! I still have mine after about 10 yrs and it’s running great. Change the oil after every 1000 mi. It doesn’t have an oil filter so it should be changed at that interval. Aside from that, always make sure your tire pressure is correct and that your tires are in good shape. At the age of your bike, it might be good to change the brake fluid and even antifreeze as well. Lastly, depending on mileage, you may want to have the valves adjusted.
sir I did not see you use anything to check the valve lash and the only words of wisdom you had to offer was don't over torque the valve cover what about don't over adjust the valve lash or don't loosen the nuts in these nuts out how about something of that nature that would be more words of wisdom
Checking the valve lash is done with a feeler gauge. The feeler gauge is one of the two tools shown in the very beginning of the video. As for the torque on the valve cover, that value is available in a service manual. It’s probably about 5 foot pounds or so. Naturally valve lash shouldn’t be over adjusted either. Just follow the specs listed in a service manual. I feel pretty certain that I mentioned the specs in the video, but cross-reference a service manual if you want to be sure.
with all the junk on UA-cam, it's so refreshing to find a helpful video with no theme music or other crap. Great Job

I've noticed a decreased top speed on my 110, I'll check out my exhaust clearance after watching this vid. Thanks for posting on UA-cam!
Thanks Mike this is awesome. Really appreciated!
Thanks bud! This was extremely helpful.
@spiritof78 Yeah, make sure your air filter is clean too. I'm not sure how many miles you have, but a worn drive belt can cause that as well.

Thank you so much. I just bought one to learn riding but I heard it was liquid cooled. Does that mean it has a radiator I need to check fluid level?

can some one send me a pic of what the right cam timing is on my 1989 Honda elite ch80 plz
how would you change a spark plug?
It would be so much easier if you mentioned that there's a "T" mark for TDC behind the fan. Just to make it more clear.
