He was on (effectively) private land... public water access only applies if the water is navigable from public access points. (And it clearly wasn't a wet boots scenario). A lot of dams have restricted areas, partially to cover their asses if somebody dies or is injured being in a dangerous area when flood gates are opened etc. and prevent idiot randos from messing with dam controls.
I support public water access... but you need to respect land owner rights too.
@ThePorpoisepower it was public, and I didn't pass any signs because I took the kayak. And it is a weir, not a dam, therefore there are no controls and essentially very little risk. The warden knew this, so that's why he didn't try trespassing. Instead he tried improper launching of a boat.
There's rapids he snuck into, I'm from the area. You can die easily. This game warden is totally reasonably correct here
Excuse me officer, this is my secret spot, you can't be here :)
😂
That dude loves the way he gets to talk to people. It’s pretty much the only reason he wanted that job. He don’t care about Game. Just power.
yes but he's not allowed to speak at home; what choice does the poor lad have?
Oh for sure! I thought that same exact thing as soon as he opened his mouth. It's obvious that the game warden LOVES his authority and flexing it at ANY opportunity. It would be interesting to see some body cam footage of some of his other interactions with people he encounters while on the job.
My take-away thoughts about this guy: 1) Practices, in uniform, in front of a mirror. 2) Even by letting someone off with a warning, he imagines that they're still in awe of his power and feel as though they just had a brush with fearsome authority. 3) He seems somewhat short in video...possible Napoleon complex.

Kind of crazy how catching your own food is put behind permits and signs so you have to buy food that’s taxed.
taxation, the government made rico laws to go after mafias, not because they were commiting crimes, but because they were better at pulling in "taxes" then the government. The government is the biggest mafia allowed to exist.
You would think a man has a right to use the resources that God put on this earth to sustain man, especially in a free country, I get paying for a permit because it helps sustain but harassing people who aren't doing anything wrong is B.S.
He had a lot of other places he could fish, he could even fish from the water
But he can't be on the shore in that area because it's posted
That's not the point of most permits/signs/laws. It's about conservation of natural resources. They aren't designed to punish responsible fishermen/hunters, it's the rest of the irresponsible and careless people who would gladly fish/hunt things into extinction just for fun if left unchecked that made this necessary.
My local game warden threatened to arrest me on my own property because I told him to get off of my private property when he came to ask me to leave. 🤣 I was like, "I spent 20 years in the Air Force and 6 years as a contractor in theater, I earned and paid for this land fair and square buddy."
You paid for the land. Not the wildlife that may run through it. There's a difference. You do not own the wildlife on your land. Sorry. And thank you for tour service. As a veteran you should know that having a valid hunting and fishing license are absolutely vital to keeping the wildlife population at a level that everyone can still go out and have a good hunt or a great day fishing without worrying about depleted levels of wildlife. That's what the whole TEN DOLLARS it costs in my state for a 1 year fishing license fee is to cover. To make sure the wildlife that runs across YOUR property that you own stay safe and healthy for real hunters and fisherman can enjoy legally.
I know 10 bucks is a lot for the year to be able to take basically as many fish as you can possibly catch in a year for less than 1 dollar a month. But luckily in my state veterans get a discount on their fishing license. I believe it comes out to like 7 bucks for the entire year.
And I thought veterans were supposed to care about our country and everything living within its borders. Thank you for clarifying that's not necessarily true.
@Mind_of_a_Very_Strange_Man blah blah the fees are not going to "better the fishing or hunting" they are going towards paying for dnr and park ranger pay. The dnr can't manage a fish in a fish bowl. My lake used to be prize walleye lake. They stole the majority of the walleye and then stocked northern pike several times and turned the lake into crap. The fees are robbery nothing more.
@@Mind_of_a_Very_Strange_Man he didn't say he was fishing or hunting. you made that strawman up. And a fishing license doesn't let you keep as many fish as you can get. You should know that.
@@Mind_of_a_Very_Strange_Manthe state doesn’t own the wildlife either…. I don’t hunt or fish but if an animal comes on my land and i want to eat it. I will…
All the state would own would be any flowing water. You own the land but not the water on it. This is how they can enter private land, through the water they own. Doubt they ever would, but they could.
i’ll never understand a dude just fishing on his own not making a mess being respectful and doing a catch and release is a bad thing anywhere
And how was that conservation officer supposed to know any of that just walking up on the scene not sure if you’re aware of this or not but poaching is a huge problem everywhere in the world
How will this officer get paid? Lol. That’s how the system works. Create laws = creating useless jobs = creating more laws = more useless jobs = larger need for fines, bigger laws and more control = more jobs. MONEY MONEY MONEY
@@hung8969 yes, because human beings are so responsible we never need any laws feel free to go live in someplace that has last laws like Russia or Haiti
The problem, IMO, is likely how close he is to that hydro facility. Whether it’s making power or just controlling water flow it is likely considered some type of “secure” infrastructure and it appears there’s no direct water navigation to this area for just that reason. Also, it’s a safety risk for the facility having someone in that area to at they are unaware is there. If that’s a spillway and they have to do a fast release it could take that guy out.
