Marriage is a partnership. For years, my husband and I both worked outside the home. I cooked, he cleaned up. We shared household duties. Today he’s retired and I still work long hours. My husband makes my life at home so easy! He cleans, does the laundry and keeps our garden beautiful. I still do the cooking, mostly because we don’t want to eat scrambled eggs every day!😂😂
Today in America it’s Memorial Day, a day that we honor the brave men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice for our Nation's freedoms. “Our flag does not fly because the wind moves it. it flies with the last breath of each soldier who died protecting it.” - Anonymous
Have a great Memorial Day, to all your military personnel past and present thank you for your support, Europe would not be the same without your sacrifice !
My two uncles were in the war, one in the navy, and the other in the marines. Have a safe and blessed Memorial Day, and thank you to all the soldiers past and present for your service to our country. 🇺🇸 ♥
😊 thank you! I agree with you completely, but inevitably every time I talk about cleaning up after Mr Firefly cooks, I get comments about it. Its very silly but oh well :)
I'm a Christian who believes that the Old Testament is my spiritual heritage . I so enjoy your videos which tells me so much about Jewish customs and food. I wish all God's blessings on you and your family family🎉
I don’t know why I’m just seeing this on my feed now, I thought something was wrong cause I didn’t see you post, glad to see if now, agree with hubby working outside the home, so you can be a full time mom, did the part time version for years, where I worked outside for a few years, now our “baby” is 31 and retirement is around the corner, hope all is well.😊
Appreciating your clips, recently I started observing Shabbat, as a way of re-sitting my life. Yesterday, here in Hastings, New Zealand, several Christian Churches, gathered together, in the center of town, to stand for the return of those who were taken Hostage, into Gazza. We stand with you. Shalom
I think it’s awesome how you and your husband work together in the home. Every couple knows best what works for them and I can see you guys have a great system working there in your home. It is a true blessing to be able to stay at home and not have to work outside the home when you have little ones to take care of. So thumbs up to you guys. I did want to mention how well you did on your breads. I wish I could bake bread as well as you did. Also, you looked so pretty at the end. Hope you had a great weekend.
Hello, Channah! I look forward to the calmn, gentleness of your channel. The sourdough loaves are gorgeous as well as your shabbat dress and earrings... and your eyes look especially beautiful! Love and peace to your sweet family
I love your Shabbos prep videos because they bring back memories of when I worked in the Chabad Tallahassee kitchen and prepared Friday night dinner for 50-60 college students and some community members. Now they average 200-250 students every Shabbos and more for holidays. Some weeks I took photos of the huge amount of challah dough and posted on Facebook. I did the rolling, kneading and braiding on a wooden surface that I found was much better than a smooth (like granite) surface. I used to love kneading the dough because it was a really good way to work out the stress of the week. Several years ago, I got a bread machine that does the kneading for me so I miss that. Shavua tov!
Loved watching you with the sour dough bread. I used to bake bread for my growing family. Shabbos with a house full is assists fun. Now that my kids are ask grown, I don't get that much anymore. I still love cooking for company, it's always nice to bring in Shabbos with others.
Hello Channa! I hope this e mail finds you ,your family and friends completely safe from the frightening news the world is hearing regarding tornadoes and hundreds of power outages in Texas AND the Dallas Fort Worth area! 🙏🏻 😢 Upon viewing your latest video I thought to myself….my goodness Channa and Mr Firefly are a match made in heaven! It’s sooooo evident seeing the attention to details regarding home life, work, children, home schooling, religious participation , meals, holidays on and on and on!!! You two are Rock Stars and am certain your children will turn out the same!! Don’t ask me why…….ever since I heard Baby Fireflies set of lungs I immediately thought “ A ha, there’s the cantor in the family !” 🤩😂🤣😂 Stay safe! Will be praying for you and your loved ones! 💕Linda
Three-bean salad...wax beans, whole green beans, dark red kidney beans, chopped bell pepper, chopped sweet onion, and vinegar, vegetable oil, sugar, salt and pepper. There are four-bean varieties, too, with the addition of chick peas. Black-eyed pea salad, AKA Texas caviar, served with tortilla chips or pita chips. Both of these use canned beans (rinsed) and fresh veggies. Easy to throw together and park in the refrigerator. Love your videos❤ Hope you had a great Shabbat and fun hosting new families.
Maybe your kiddos could help with a shabbat side dish as part of their homeschool? I've been into making a lot of different salads now that the weather is warming up... that would be a fun teamwork project! I love seeing all the special care that goes into your shabbat prep!!! ❤
I love your videos of Jewish life. I agree. It is a privilege to have a husband that supports with enough money for the wife to stay home and not deal with work. If I had such a person I would carry them around-lol. 20 guests is a lot!! Bless you for having Jewish people who may be new to the community or those who have no family.
SAHMs "deal with work" 24/7. Taking care of the kids, including one with medical issues, the house, and home schooling is ALOT of work, as well as vlogging.
@@su-rv2uq Yes. It is work but not having to go out and deal with work and be the breadwinner who keeps the roof over your head is very different. All the stress of survival and keeping a roof is on the person who has to work. The pressure of work is unbelievable.
Hi Chana! I could smell your yummy cooking and baking all the way to my home!! 🤣The loaves came out really nice. I have been watching more about Sour dough and maybe will get the courage to try it. You look so pretty dressed for Shabbat and I am sure you all had a great time with your Shabbat guests. Have a great week!
One of my favorite side dishes is oven-roasted broccoli and cauliflower with a lemon-butter-mustard sauce. Of course, you could use olive oil or a non-dairy butter substitute. Roast the veggies in the oven on a sheet pan for about 10 minutes. Meanwhile, melt the butter, add the juice of half a lemon and wholegrain mustard to taste. Season with some salt and pepper. Pour the sauce over the veggies and roast another 5-10 minutes. This is a great dish for diabetics, too. It's one of my favorite holiday sides, since the sauce cuts through the richness of the rest of the food. This would also work with green beans, asparagus, or any veggie your family likes. Love the video. Shalom! ❤
I've missed you lovely lady. I've been in the hospital a crazy amount. I have heart failure as well.. My heart was at 20%, now its at 40%. My kidneys are at about 30%. I have a happy life otherwise. We have Celebrated 40 years. I'm just getting into sourdough too! We are moving to our property in Tennessee this next weekend. We'll to a hotel as our renters cannot get another rental. They are old friends and great renters so my husband is buying them a house to rent from us. 😊 I love him so much. God bless you and yours. Love, jenwhite
Hi Chana, your bread looks wonderful. I bet the whole house smelled good! Hope your Shabbat went well and your guests had a wonderful time. Enjoy the rest of your week. 😊
Two tips for your sourdough. I usually wet my table instead of sprinkling it with four, and I keep my hands damp. It helps to not make the dough stick. Secondo tip, put the rounded side of the dough in the basket. That’s where you developed the surface tension and it should be the side facing up when you bake it 😘
Channa this is my third time trying to watch your program. First time my granddaughter arrived with my great granddaughter then my neice arrived with my great neice then it was time to make dinner so I was have just finished watching all your adventures the bread. If it tastes as good as it looks you have a winner ❤❤❤Ireland

You do a good job of all those things and I am thrilled that you have the opportunity to take pride in those accomplishments. Everybody can just get over themselves about your husband not doing the clean up. He is cooking which is very nice. I often wonder about women who complain, moan, and groan about ‘fairness blah blah blah. It really always strikes me as jealousy. You all are doing just fine
Loved your video as usual. The bread looked amazing. I love fresh bread and I would’ve loved a slice. I find your community so generous and caring. Our country would be so much better if we all looked out for each other. I hope your Shabbat was enjoyable and you enjoyed making a new friend.

Interesting video! Been enjoying your channel. LOVE your black headwrap at the end :) I bake my sourdough loaves in enamel roasting pans. I can fit two at a time in my regular size oven. Makes it safer as they are not heavy like cast iron. Blessings!
When my daughter was a toddler I used to fill the sink with warm soapy water, dump all my plastic utensils into the water, stand her up on a step stool, and get 30 minutes of quiet time LOL - this reminded me of that!
Lovely video as always! To inspire me with new recipes, I like to look back at my ancestors and see dishes they might have cooked either through time period based cooking, or looking at dishes from the countries they were from. Or choosing a different American state each month and looking at their well known recipes as a way to explore the complex culinary history of my country!
Oh I’m with you! He can cook n you’d do the clean up! Whoa 20 guests what a great fellowship time. Nothing like homemade baked goods. Have a great week see you next video.
Hello Chana, So nice to see your video. I was able to relax and watch it tonight . With our new home and my new job and caring for my mom my schedule has changed somewhat. So lovely to your video and enjoy your happiness. You are so uplifting. ❤
I’m late getting to your video this week but it was worth the wait, I so enjoyed it. I think what I always enjoy most is Baby Firefly laughing and giggling and the bit where he’s playing in the sink!?!? Just so cute, he makes my smile and laugh too. The bread you made looks delicious and well done you spending so long baking it all for your guests. I’d be having a nervous breakdown if I had 20 people to lunch, not calmly baking bread with a toddler in tow! Hope it all went well and you all had a great time and you had a well earned rest! 💜💜
Wow, your loaves look amazing. I like the different tones of brown that you achieve and my mouth practically watered looking at them. I love how caring your community is. Hola from Cuernavaca, Mexico
We're finishing up school. As we get done with each subject they've fallen off. We have a few LA and Math lessons left & then summer starts. We haven't been outside bc of the cicadas. They're so loud. Then a weekend of severe weather that thankfully missed us last night bc it was rough for those it didn't miss.
Cleaned my kitchen with you today! I use covered corningware stoneware dishes, I have a set of rounds and a set of ovals and use the largest of each to make bread. Two in the oven at once. They sometimes touch the lid but the bread looks and tastes good.

Just checking in. Happy Shabbat. My friend Starry is Seventh Day Adventist. She does the same thing, Sabbath prep, cleaning and cooking before on Friday for Saturday.
Nice! Did my laps in the apartment pool this morning. Worked on organizing the sewing area and file boxes (my chore for this week). Wanted to run to grocery but after the holiday.
The black dress & hair covering are stunning on you! I make a Dutch over crusty cranberry & walnut bread for people at holidays ( I normally don’t eat carbs) & found it browns without taking off the lid. You might save time by skipping that step or at least cutting it in half. Love your designs.
Your bread looks so tasty! I love sourdough bread myself and if I could reach through the screen I would have to had the end off one of those loaves! As always a pleasure to watch and learn......
I listened to you go on about a tent and thought to myself " I can handle someone in massive organ failure or coding without breaking into a sweat yet just the thought of being outdoors in a tent...with 4 kiddos, makes it hard for me to breathe. lol As far as household chore division comments go never pay any mind to those attempting to correct your set up. You know what works best for the flow of your home.
A side dish suggestion is from the Perfect for Pesach cookbook. The bottom layer is vegetarian kishke (potato, carrot, onion, and a few other things), and the top is a broccoli souffle. It's a few steps but is very tasty. It also freezes well.
Marriage is absolutely a partnership! My husband does the dishes every night no matter who cooks. I am very appreciative of that, and I’ve never asked him to do that. However, he is not allowed to cut the grass. He mows everything, and I have wild flowers and other plants commonly thought of as weeds that I love. About the tent. Check out Clams. They are inexpensive, easy to put up, and quite large. The bread is beautiful. That black scarf you had on make your eyes stand out. Very lovely. Have a great week!

Just checking in. Happy Shabbat. My friend Starry is Seventh Day Adventist. She does the same thing, Sabbath prep, cleaning and cooking before on Friday for Saturday.
Hi Michelle! So nice to see you here!
Nice! Did my laps in the apartment pool this morning. Worked on organizing the sewing area and file boxes (my chore for this week). Wanted to run to grocery but after the holiday.
Sounds like a great day!
Good morning Chana and firefly kiddos 💕 Love getting ready for Shabbat with you 😘 💕🎉
Good morning Kristin!💐

You’re both raiding great humans!! Teamwork !!
Thank you Patricia!
I’m glad you guessed raising instead of raiding, lol
@@patriciagreene5842 oh yes ❤️ I was sure that’s what you meant
Enjoyed this video very much. I would love for you to do a video on making the sourdough start to finish. It looks amazing.❣️🌹
So glad you enjoyed! I use Ballerina Farms recipe for sourdough and she has a great video that takes you through the process :)
Have a great memorial day! Love to your family ❤
Thank you! You too!
We got our tent from Core Equipment absolutely love it, their Instant Cabin tents may be a good fit for you!
Good to know! Thank you! I’ll look into that!
I have recently started working with sourdough. It’s so much fun

Hello … Love this and Learning . Thank you .
Glad you enjoy it!
Love your videos:) I hope your Shabbat was wonderful and Happy Memorial Day❤️
Thank you so much Linda! 🇺🇸
Your bread looks AMAZING!!!!
Thank you 😊❤️
The black dress & hair covering are stunning on you! I make a Dutch over crusty cranberry & walnut bread for people at holidays ( I normally don’t eat carbs) & found it browns without taking off the lid. You might save time by skipping that step or at least cutting it in half. Love your designs.
Thank you so much :) Your bread sounds delicious!
Your bread looks so tasty! I love sourdough bread myself and if I could reach through the screen I would have to had the end off one of those loaves! As always a pleasure to watch and learn......
Thank you so much Janith! ❤️❤️❤️❤️
The bread looks delish 😋😋
Thank you!
The sourdough is beautiful
Thank you so much 😊
Well done with your bread! Beautiful 🙂
Thank you Vivian!
I would love to see the finished products of all your prep and even what Mr. Firefly has made.
I always show what I can :)
LOL I laughed at your comment about the tent! Thank you for your kind words :)
Adore your outfit!
Thank you 😊
Great job!
Thanks!
your bread looks amazing!!!
Thank you 😊
A side dish suggestion is from the Perfect for Pesach cookbook. The bottom layer is vegetarian kishke (potato, carrot, onion, and a few other things), and the top is a broccoli souffle. It's a few steps but is very tasty. It also freezes well.
That sounds interesting! I will look into that! I don't have that cook book but I am sure one of my neighbors will.
The sourdough looked delicious, that might be my next hobby. The head covering you wore for Shabbat was beautiful!
Thank you Susan! I definitely recommend giving sourdough a try!
Wow what a busy Shabbat! Shavua Tov have a wonderful week ahead lots of love from Israel 🇮🇱
Thanks for watching! Shavua tov!
The bread looks so delicious ❤
Thank you so much ❤️
I really like your videos! Your the best communicator of those who promote Judaism!
Thank you!
Have you thought about cutting the parchment into circles to avoid the touching?
Youre amazing at Baking. ❤❤ The bread looks sooooo good. Xx
Thanks so much 😊
You were a very busy woman! 💐That's more sour dough bread than I've made at one time. 😁 Have a blessed week! ❤
It was for me too! It was super fun though :) enjoy your week!
Thank you Jane!
