    If you want to feel what it’s like to release all restrictions change out the controller to the 35AMP unit. This tripled the power output on my Canadian spec Rad runner from 500 watt to over 1600. Top speed is still about the same, but you can get there in a flash

    • @BornToGetBusy
      @BornToGetBusy  3 роки тому +1

      Well, doesn't that also require a new display? If so then that's quite a lot more cost and work. I'm also not even sure the motor can go over 1000 watt on the EU version. The EggRider is a very simple upgrade for just 100€ and it lets the motor output 1000 watt.

      @@BornToGetBusy Yes new display, but if you are reasonably handy you can put it together. My understanding is that all Rad Runners have the same 500 Watt motor regardless of country.

    • @helenHTID

      Great and all, But I prefer range over power.. All those watts need juice and that battery won't last long! "But you can tame the settings" What's the point in spending that money doing the work just to hold it back? Nah, I'd rather get more miles. "Get a second battery" now we talking hella money altogether! If I wanted to spend that much I'd just buy more powerful bike lol. The egg ridder is a perfect middle ground, It lifts restrictions gives you a good boost and be tamed easily with a touch of a button, It's plug and play and only costs 100. That's far more worth it if anything.

    • @BornToGetBusy
      @BornToGetBusy  3 роки тому +4

      I agree. The EggRider saves me 10 minutes on my daily commute compared to the stock display. That quickly adds up and alone is worth the upgrade. Besides, there's no point in going faster than 30 km/h when riding downtown. It's simply not safe riding faster among other bikes and pedestrians.

    • @DiegoLinde
      @DiegoLinde Рік тому

      @@BornToGetBusy Please, don't make this a safety issue to rationalise the lack of speed. It is what it is and we have to accept it but let's not dress it up in order to make us feel better. Regular cyclists can do 30mph (48ish km). I've been on my motorbike at 30mph and had cyclists pass me, so 30km (18mph) is nothing. It's not about using top speed all the time, but having the option and using the speed the road conditions allow as it suits us.

    Thank you for the helpful review. I test rode a Radrunner 1 and found it great except that downhill my feet were gong too fast and with a single speed, no gear to adjust. Would the Eggrider help that as the motor wouldn't cut out? I can't get my head around it!

    • @BornToGetBusy
      @BornToGetBusy  2 роки тому +1

      Nope, going downhill the motor will still cut out after reaching it's max speed even with the Eggrider. As you mention, no gears so your legs will just go round without affecting speed. Basically, there is no way to get more speed out of it. So downhill, I just sit back and relax. On this style of heavy bike why would you want to go much faster downhill anyways :)

    • @BornToGetBusy
      @BornToGetBusy  3 роки тому +4

      Hi Matthew
      The bike in the US has less limits than the EU version so I'm not sure what benefit you would get out of it except better torgue. The main point for the EU version was unlocking all the restricted features such as higher speed, torque and no throttle limit. My lights still work the same which was a main reason for getting the EggRider.

      It's a Bafang hub drive. Not sure about the model but the EggRider shows it outputs maximum 1000w. It's sold as a 250w motor to comply with EU standards but that's only limited by the controller. I assume the EggRider removes this limitation.

    This looks awesome. Does it really works on the standard EU Radrunner 2 with the simple controller? I have this simple comtroller like you're showing in your video, also the radrunner 2, but I'm not sure which battery it works for. Mine is the YT 48132-QB-E being 48V 14 Ah / 672Wh When using the throttle now, my motor only helps starting but does not excelerate to max speed. Will mounting the Eggrider really do the sames as in your video?

    Hello, thanks for this review 👌 I'm thinking of upgrading to the eggrider but I'm worried of getting fines because it is no longer a no throttle EU bike. I guess it is easy to change from off road to road/legal mode. But is it really legal?

    • @BornToGetBusy
      @BornToGetBusy  3 роки тому +3

      Well, I can't really offer legal advice but I'm pretty sure the ability to ride only using throttle at max speed is not compliant with the original certifications of the bike. This makes it more like a moped/scooter. I doubt any police will stop you to verify it much less give you a fine but it might be an issue in case of a serious accident/insurance claim should you be at fault. You can by a push of a button on the EggRider display toggle between Road/Offroad settings. The Road settings can be set to comply with local regulations.

    • @owenjones-wells9395
      @owenjones-wells9395 2 роки тому +3

      As John has said, you can set 2 profiles, and it can be set so that you have to long press the 'Mode' button to activate the off road (illegal) settings, which makes it harder to accidentally activate.
      It shouldn't be an issue with police, so long as you don't draw attention to yourself by riding dangerously or breaking other road rules. Only issue will be if you are involved in an accident.
      I generally use the legal road profile around town, but when out on country lanes, away from other people open up for full throttle use.

      Well, in its original configuration the Radrunner 1 EU versions doesn't output its maximum torgue so going up hill was a bit sluggish. This completely changed with the EggRider which made the motor run at max even up hills. Its a huge difference. I highly recommend this upgrade if you plan on riding hills. • @martinmaddox5315
      @martinmaddox5315 2 роки тому

      I didn’t think I would like the semi fat tires on my radrunner plus. I thought that if you let off the throttle or quit peddling that the tire wouldn’t coast as far and would be harder to peddle but I can’t tell if that happens.

    • @BornToGetBusy
      @BornToGetBusy  2 роки тому +1

      Personally, I dont feel the fat tires do anything good for stability. It might be because the bike is so heavy but I have had the tires slipping in wet conditions or when riding on gravel when pressed hard around corners at full speed. But I mainly use the bike for regular commutes so its fine as long as you ride as per the conditions and dont push it too much :)

    • @martinmaddox5315
      @martinmaddox5315 2 роки тому +1

      I see no disadvantages with the fat tires. When I run over a stone in the road I hardly feel it. The same size stone on my old trek which I routinely rode 10 miles a day sometimes 15 to 20 miles, would make the bike wobble. I don’t purposely ride my bike in the rain, because I can’t stand the idea of rust on my beautiful radrunner plus. I so believe the radrunner mini stepthru would be just as good and it folds. If you get I get caught in the rain, I put a light coat of oil on my frame, and especially on the shocks, chain, etc., which I wipe off the excess oil. The only disadvantage of the stepthru that I know of was the fear that it would not be as sturdy as a non step thru because of the triangle shape completed by the top bar. Upon receiving my radrunner via fedex and seeing the large frame and brace I have no doubt that the stepthru design of radrover products is every bit as strong as my old trek which I loved. The stepthru is much safer for older riders as myself and is especially so in an emergency stop in that you can get your feet on the ground quickly. Additionally, if your are 50 years or older, if you don’t need a stepthru, I believe the radrover frame will last a lifetime and at some point a stepthru will be safer for you. A wide tire always is expected to be more stable in automobiles and I expect it is the same on a bike.

    • @BornToGetBusy
      @BornToGetBusy  2 роки тому

      @@martinmaddox5315 good points. As a daily commuter bike, I have often riden my Radrunner in rain and snow. Only parked it over night in the shed and did normal lubrication of moving parts once in a while. Almost 3 years later there is no rust to be seen except a bit on the kick stand. The bike is being sold as a "utility" bike so I wouldn't worry about riding it in most conditions. As for the tires, sure, you might not feel rocks as much with fat tires but stability on a bike not only depends on the width of the tire but more how you ride it and in what conditions. Again, ride how you are comfortable with for your age - the Radrunner is very heavy.

    • @BornToGetBusy

      Well, for the EU version of the Radrunner, the Eggrider dosn't give a whole lot more speed. I guess it went from the stock 25km/h to about 28/29km/h. The main improvement is in constant max torque especially up hills and the throttle working constantly. This alone makes the bike feel much more capable than without the Eggrider even though the maximum speed is not that much higher. Note that it's probably illegal to have the Radrunner go much faster depending on your country as its not classified as a moped/speed pedelec and could also cause insurance issues in case of an accident.

      Well... I would say it takes about 25-30% off the range. I have about 14 km to work and I need to charge every night after going to work and back with about 20% left on the battery, which is not enough to get me to work. Not that I always ride with max pedal assist (level 5).

    Sadly I only can find the EggRider V2 and on a german shop there it says it is not compatible with RadBikes. Has anybody a source for the V1 in Europe?
    Also big games bikes has a warning on their page: "The Eggrider maximum voltage is 60v. If you have a 52v battery then fully charged your battery will produce roughly 58v. If your bike voltage surges beyond 60v it will damage your EggRider and your warranty is void. Bikes with regenerative braking and using 52v batteries could surge beyond 60v!"
    Seems this device isn't all that great as it is presented in this video.

    • @BornToGetBusy
      @BornToGetBusy  2 роки тому

      Well, I'm using the EggRider V2 on my Rad and so are many others. I don't know about voltage surging but my Radrunner dosn't have regenerative braking. If you worry about these things and the T&C, then just don't buy it.

      @fawkesmorque 2 роки тому

      @@BornToGetBusy Ah sorry, I've overlooked the "regenerative breaking" part. So there is no danger for a normal RadRunner.
