Kraft insulin survey: glucose tolerance measuring both insulin and glucose multiple times after standard glucose load.
I can say in my own experience that fasting insulin may not be the best measurement. In my own case my FI is less than 5.4 or less, C-peptide is low, Trig/HDL is typically less than 1.5 yet I have watched as my A1C has slowly risen. I am finally resigned to have to see a functional medicine doc to get to the bottom of things. LADA antibodies are negative which I had to go to an Endo to be tested. I do have some Thyroid issues unresolved.

Hi Dr. Boz. I wear a Freestyle Libre 3 CGM. It is great for seeing how my glucose ebbs and flows. The graphics aren't very good but OK.
If a wearable blood glucose monitor can be made then why not a wearable continuous ketone or insulin monitor? Are these in the works? Maybe?
They are in use in the UK but waiting for approval in the US, I believe
Thankyou 🤗 Eating no plants, one meal per day, and Ekadashi fasting may have helped me 😮 however a glucose and ketone level is a good idea 😊 for me as carbohydrates from eggs or oysters or dairy or excess protein combined with inactivity could indicate what is happening with my insulin 🙄

Using a CGM is a good way to track your own glucose reactions to various foods.
Not useful. You have no idea what your insulin is doing. And it's raised 5-20 years before glucose starts to go up
It seems like she is chasing lab values above any other markers. I would rather be asked, can you walk further, do you hurt less, do you feel rested? Rather than obsessing over numbers. To each their own though….
Is Dr Boz saying you can't be metabolically healthy unless you're always in ketosis? Healthy people do not need to have ketones at 1.0. What should the level of fasting ketones be for a healthy person NOT on a ketogenic diet? Or fasting GKI for someone not on keto diet?
@geoffreylevens9045 Keto Veterans who are fully fat adapted over several years (still to be determined how many years) always have a ketone level of around 0.1 mmol/l and only reach higher levels when fasting. This has been acknowledged by Prof Tim Noakes and confirmed by Alex MacDonald and now needs further investigation to be formalised.
IT’s suggested that this could be a state of “Homeostasis Nutritional Ketosis” in which the liver produces the precise amount of ketones the body needs exactly as it does for glucose in a perfectly metabolically healthy individual. This also explains why the Inuit, the best example of low carb eating, do not have raised ketone levels.
