Same. Games like Diablo and PoE1 just feel like fancy idle clickers. Brainless gameplay for dopamine gear drops. I just really hope this guy is wrong, that the gameplay will STAY how it is somewhat in the early game. Having some of that power fantasy of blasting lots of mobs should definitely be part of it, through different stages or something (for example this part of the map you fight a bunch of peasants, next part you fight actual soldiers you cant blast through). I really can't understand how people enjoyed making characters in PoE1 that you could just AFK map clear with 1 button. Even PoE 1 I built my characters that played VERY close to how this gameplay is in PoE2 and it was great.

No Rest for the Wicked and PoE 2 are looking worlds better than any ARPGs yet, really for the simple fact of having significantly more engaging combat.

Tried with PoE multiple times and it's way too much.
This is a much more fair assessment than most would admit. As a 5k guy though, I don't want the game any less complex, I just want all the info IN GAME. That would be the biggest improvement imo. Not every game needs to be for casuals, but they should have the tools to see if its worth getting into it more.
I hope that the way they fix potions is not by reintroducing "potion piano" but by adjusting how you acquire health and mana. I think the increased interactivity is a huge plus, but I hope they address these issues.
right, because the best thing about dark souls is facing 20 mobs at the same time... but hey, people will understand once they try it. because something works on one game style, doesnt mean it works on everything. for years PoE has trained its players to rush things, not kill, but down right genocide entire maps in seconds, and in some cases, it even punished the player for not being fast enough, like the case of delirium and similar dense mob spawning. adding things that are the antithesis to that... everyone is loving it, im really curious a couple months after release, when they are trudging slowly and having to stop for 10+ seconds for each enemy, and getting whites only, maybe a blue after a 2 minutes duel against an elite... makes you wonder how much love and praise will be then.
@@marktorres6385 Yeah, I saw the appeal in hardcore and had a few attempts at it. However, I just feel so defeated after spending a weekend levelling only to die to a one shot and lose all that progress. This looks like a great middle ground to me. I am barred from progressing until I get good enough but my character isn't wiped out. I'm getting pretty excited to try it out in PoE2.
I love the idea of hardcore but honestly without a logout macro IMHO it can't be called hard core. After watching streamers use logout macro it just lost the appeal. Can't tell you how many I laughed at my buddy setting his chicken script to 23% hp and using 5 portals every map when he was 12 levels over. But that's par for course in poe. Borderline ToS abuse just to play.
I tried a very tiny drop of PoE, like 3 bosses maybe. I died to one, almost had him. I return, he's low health. I said wtf is this? and 1-tapped him. Maybe I'm too PoE noob to understand, but the other replies say that's "hardcore" - huh? That's not hardcore at all. That's wayyy too soft actually, and a major reason why I passed on the game.
@@daviddruen858Brother that's not hardcore, hardcore is a status, dying on hardcore sends you to Softcore - If you die on hardcore in many other games it deletes your character (essentially)
what a time be alive! DD2 is rocking now and then we're going to have the best ARPG game of all time later down the road this year! And to be more excited about you're alive now is that. stellar blade is going to be released next month! WOWWWWWWW, I'm just so happy folks!
Such a better looking combat system. Love the look of stringing combos together, it feels way more rewarding and makes more skills meaningful. Even the auto attacks look better - looks like pressing auto attack 3 times in a row does a 3 animation combo rather than spamming the same sword swing over and over. Solid
While a lot of things look like improvements, I'm not sure about some of these - like the flasks not refilling, it's one of the best things about PoE that keeps you chugging along without having to take needless breaks. Also probably my least favorite thing about Demon's Souls was having to reclear entire zones when you died to a boss - it gets old real quick.
I'm hoping that it isn't as zoomy as modern aRPG's seem to be. If a game is too fast, then it's kinda difficult to have anything in the middle of enemies just disappearing or just being ohko'd.
@@KnEpH131 I think their goal is to have both, if you want to really min/max and use w/e is meta you can be zoomy, if you just wanna enjoy the game then you can do that also.
@@JoshDragRace0688the issue is that you can’t have both - one of the group will suffer, cause either it will be too much or not enough loot and subsequently, you will see economy crumble and be only fitted towards the man mixers who blast through maps. Having slower gameplay, you will feel left out and kinda forced to speed run, basically as it is now - everyone rushed through the campaign, not only to get to the maps as fast as possible, but also to get advantage over the market. The later you start, the less value will the items have that you drop. Now you will also have to get not only the currency to buy items, but also gold to even participate in the trade. And since the zoomers and hard grinders are the main customer base and GGG loves to appease them, just wait and see - PoE 1 will be scrapped and PoE 2 will turn into the zoom boom zoom boom kinda game PoE was.
They need to make respec painless and free, also make the skills on the skill tree do exactly what it says. No weird gotchas where some type of damage is excluded from scaling because of some random balancing patch. Running POE without build guides where people point these things out is not fun, that needs to change.
That's something they've directly said they want to address. They've said they added a feature where when you hover a node on the skill tree it'll show you exactly how it'll change your damage or what your skill is doing. They said they don't want you to need to leave the game so often to look things up or feel like you need to follow a guide to know what's going on.
Looks amazing. Question though, was it played on a Local server or online? Immunity frames and combos normally demands quite optimized and priority based net code. Not that I belive GGG don't got excellent expertise with this, but I still remember how SWTOR turned out despite the budget. I will be even more exited when stress testing reports no "jank".
If you like that feeling of accomplishment I still say you try Hades. You don’t get far at the start but you start getting farther and farther as you get stronger and it feels great. And the way both character and story progression work in that game keep it feel fresh for enough hours to justify its purchase
the stagger mechanic reminds me of sekiro alot with the posture bar i think the high cast time abilities sound like a good idea and is a kind of like a new spin on the execution mechanic in souls games because it would reward staggering your enemy instead of just doing the same combo you used the entire fight just risk free
@@SilverSeleucid With that logic PoE 2 wouldnt even be a thing. Devs have said they wanted it to deal improve on the onbording of the first game so more people can enjoy it. WASD movement and other QOL features are all targeted at the casual. My guess, PoE2 will be the casual version of the game with PoE will still be the go to for the hardcore guys.
@@SilverSeleucid The pacing is what I find unappealing, not the difficulty. I mean precisely what I said: "I'm not sure". As in, I could go either way. Obviously I'll have to try it myself on release. I like that they're trying something different at least.
I just hopethings are intuitive enough that I don't need to spend more time on a different website making my build than I do in game, actually playing it. Especially because I want to play on console from my comfy couch with a drink and my feet on an ottoman, like an animal.
@Kpaxlol spending hours on a build planner is not hard-core (especially if you use someone else) nor is requiring another website just to trade. You can design a game to be complex without forcing players to use third-party tools. Also, I will not have to deal with it. Me and anyone else who prefers actually playing games to planning how to play games will go someplace else. POE is not so great that I would regret not playing. I can get my loot collecting, have a build delete the entire screen fix pretty easily these days.
@@lebanc571 A much expected reply to defend yourself. Yes they can make Path of building an in-game tool. But tbh that's probably a mix between them starting poor in the beginning and them not wanting to completely ruin any immersion and make the game mostly an equation that has to be solved and most players will be turned off by that IMO. Then again , if you don't wanna use the third party tools , you don't have to. May you give an example of a 100% required tool that you have to use? The trading site is their own. I believe they may do an integration that's like built-in the game and looks like the trading site in the future, just hard and technical to do most likely and not their original intentions. If you are talking about Path of building, then you are not 100% obliged to use it. You are just a hardcore player and not casual in case you feel the need to use it.
@@mmmyummymmm in poe1, most new templars replace glacial strike ASAP. imagine having to use it thru the end of act2, or even longer, cause early acts be slow
Am I the only one that hates the UI and Character/Bags UI? I feel like I've played Diablo 2 enough. It's 2024 and it's time to give PoE a more updated modern feel without destroying the PoE style. One of the things I liked about Diablo 3 was how items were looted into your bags. In PoE2 seeing 2 shields and 3 weapons take up 3/4ths the bags just makes me cringe. Seeing items drop is supposed to be fun and intriguing. And saying "Put a loot filter on" isn't a solution. That's being lazy about solving a problem in the first place. Last Epoch was the perfect middle ground. And seeing Last Epoch from Beta UI/Character/bags to full release UI/Character/bags was night and day. If all PoE2 is going to give us is an updated graphic engine and some new mechanics/bosses/lore then this will be a wasted opportunity.

This is a much more fair assessment than most would admit. As a 5k guy though, I don't want the game any less complex, I just want all the info IN GAME. That would be the biggest improvement imo. Not every game needs to be for casuals, but they should have the tools to see if its worth getting into it more.
Yep, game is designed for no lifers and stay at home dads.
The pace of combat you described is what I was expecting for D4 to have.
I look forward to play PoE2!
I hope that the way they fix potions is not by reintroducing "potion piano" but by adjusting how you acquire health and mana.
I think the increased interactivity is a huge plus, but I hope they address these issues.
Looks like an souls like arpg and that make insanely happy
right, because the best thing about dark souls is facing 20 mobs at the same time... but hey, people will understand once they try it. because something works on one game style, doesnt mean it works on everything.
for years PoE has trained its players to rush things, not kill, but down right genocide entire maps in seconds, and in some cases, it even punished the player for not being fast enough, like the case of delirium and similar dense mob spawning.
adding things that are the antithesis to that... everyone is loving it, im really curious a couple months after release, when they are trudging slowly and having to stop for 10+ seconds for each enemy, and getting whites only, maybe a blue after a 2 minutes duel against an elite...
makes you wonder how much love and praise will be then.
I like that enemies respawn if you die. PoE 1 sometimes felt like I was just brute forcing things by dying over and over.
That's why it has a lot of hardcore player's
Wasd movement really sells this for me ngl I’m so much more excited than I previously was woah
what a time be alive! DD2 is rocking now and then we're going to have the best ARPG game of all time later down the road this year! And to be more excited about you're alive now is that. stellar blade is going to be released next month! WOWWWWWWW, I'm just so happy folks!
somewhat new...800 hours into it... goddamn my dude, I'm not even close to 1/10 of that into it
Such a better looking combat system. Love the look of stringing combos together, it feels way more rewarding and makes more skills meaningful. Even the auto attacks look better - looks like pressing auto attack 3 times in a row does a 3 animation combo rather than spamming the same sword swing over and over. Solid
great video. thanks for it
Looks great and cant wait.
Looks alot more like D2 and im into it
the combat is so much more like Souls and ive been waiting for an ARPG like this, im so pumped
You should check out ‘No Rest for the Wicked’ then, it’s a souls like arpg.
@@roadrash2005that’s the one I’m super hyped for! That and this, poe2 looks sick. These are the two I’m waiting for rn.
Looks like Souls? Bro this is an arpg LOL
Hopefully this stands up
@@SuperJake9000 and? do you know what makes a soul game a soul game? because there are side scroller soul likes too and etc
It looks so good, i cant wait!
Wow. A sword and board class where the board actually works? What a concept!

The stagger animation looks very satisfying
this is exctly the kind of combat i love, i'm very excited to see the possibilities!
I’m fairly certain only the boss respawns if you die fighting them, the area only respawns if you die to a mob.
@@roadrash2005 Ah, I see, in that case it's not too bad at all.
Get guud! Problem solved
@@saucemasterx911 wow. Very original.
He said flask refills would probably change anyways, if they are going for a bigger audience they will definitely change that
I'm hoping that it isn't as zoomy as modern aRPG's seem to be. If a game is too fast, then it's kinda difficult to have anything in the middle of enemies just disappearing or just being ohko'd.
But if it isn't "zoomy" the Speed Runners and Blasters will endlessly whine and complain and they will change it to appease them. Just wait and see.
How can Darth and Raxx be such good explainers? I wished my teachers at university were that good.
I am thinking about trying a Paladin build that would tank with magical shields but also deal damage with magic. Like a caster tank.
This is absolutely amazing, this is gonna be the game of the year 🔥
😂
What about technical aspects? Will it support DLAA or HDR?
I see that soulsbourne fighting style is making its way into aRPG which is super nice :!
normal mobs should give potion charges. Would fix the issue of potions not refilling of course during combat.
they want the game to be dark souls but from top down.
I think it looks great, but as a console playe will we be able to use mnk if we plug it in?
Im so excited for this
not having monsters refil you flasks sounds fucking awful.
Suffer for Chris Wilson's increasingly detached "vision"
Meh sounds like an early issue. Endgame you'll be much stronger, have regen, kill more shit faster, have leech etc.
Feels like they are making the mechanics from Poe 1 more clunky and boring. I'm glad they kept the 2 games separate.
@@Weaver_Games mad cuz bad, stick to PoE1 let the adults play PoE2
@@Deminese2 Seeing as ranger get flask recharge really early in the tree, this seems to be the case
That class selection scene is badass
I thought it being "the dark souls of ARPGs" was a meme but this really does look like a dark souls and ARPG mashup. Not sure if it will be for me.
not to mention it feels so slow. It looks too hardcore. I hope its not yet the final product
if it looks to hard then go play diablo, not every game is made for you nor should it be
@@rayu7191 It is obviously not the final product. In fact they have pushed the beta back to the end of the year.
@therotten6152 the lead dev wants to abandon complexity and retain depth
This game is for a hard core audience, so you'll have to deal with it.
I am soooooo excited for this game, i cant wait!!!!
2:45 reminds me of the burrows is d2, love it
looks like that warrior is swimming in molasses. they took glacial strike and said, "make it slower"
Early acts be slow like that though
@@mmmyummymmm in poe1, most new templars replace glacial strike ASAP. imagine having to use it thru the end of act2, or even longer, cause early acts be slow
I hope PoE 2 allows respec with ease. I hope they take a look at Last Epoch and take note of this.
The stamina and stagger from blocking is neat, Its like that in the game New World.
hack and slash genre is definitely in need of a fresh combat system. Something that is familiar but updated to be more modern.
the wasd movement has me sold.
First!
Looks amazing. No words about graphics ?
I did not give up, but I probably got a few too many snacks.
Now say it whithout crying
