This movie is by far one of the best. I remember watching it before it was officially released and unedited. I think what I like most is how they mixed fantasy and realism together so well from their weapons to the little toys to their fighting styles along with the gritty realistic qualities of the way people actually behave and the surreal nature of the encounters with the witches. It all mixes together perfectly.

Yeah but do you see the wire on the actors body during a scene where they zoom through the air? You got to watch it many days to see the quick glimpse.
Watched many horror films since I was in junior school, watched this again two nights ago and still think it a great mix of horror, comedy and action together with a good twist on the original tale, great cast and effects. Camera work is decent ( I think it was also released in 3D). Shame that so far they have not done a sequel. Gemma Arterton at her best, even more gorgeous with a natural look even with blood and guts all over her face!
Criminally underrated movie. It features one of the best depictions of any mythical being I have ever seen, specially on the initial fight scenes. Supernatural, yet realistic, just how I imagine they would be.
And apparently forgot that they can, you know, do magic. Of course, the movie would have been boring if the protagonists were just turned into goldfishes and left to suffocate at the first fight.
Actually no. The movie's entire plot revolved around how evil witches can't do spells on these particular protagonists. Which is why they are good at it. They even show that in the first fight scene.
+HerrMasterLizard Look again. The smart ones did do magic indirectly. Including having a pile of stuff fall. And against everyone else they used magic to great affect.
Ah I remember watching this. Best use of leather clothing ever apart from in Underworld. Also it's quite a badass/fun movie. ALSO: IT's THE FIREFLY GUY!
It's funny. The moment a witch get her hands on an improvised weapon, Hansel and Gretel get kicked around. A random stick grabbed from the woods? Asskicking ensues. A shovel? More asskicking. But magic and tons of other witches? Nah, Hansel and Gretel are doing fine.
These are the most physically imposing witches I've ever seen a portrayal of. Classically though (in terms of folklore and fiction), the scariest thing about a witch isn't the physical threat they pose face to face, but the idea that they can use magic to fuck you up at a distance without even needing to be anywhere near you. Not even within line of sight. A witch's curse is one of the most classic plot devices of fairytales.
I liked that it wasn't easy, even for them. The only advantage they had was that they were immune to magic. But even with that advantage, it was still a real struggle and hella dangerous for them to take on a witch. They had to really work at it, never underestimate even the lowest ranked witches and work together. It's better than them just steamrolling over witches because they're just that badass. It shows that they're still human and witches are still dangerous to them. They have to keep working at it, even with their magic immunity and all their gadgets.
@MegaWerewolf5: Were you the fight coordinator on this film? Because I can't imagine anyone else making such a bold statement about the quality of these fights.
The best fight scene I ever watched was in some Humphrey Bogart film about gold prospectors - 2 v. 1. For fun, in my youth, I took on my younger brother and his friend, oh my god, I got screwed, pretty much like the movie. Second best is Seven Samurai. It's pretty realistic, especially the scenes in the village, and the role of firearms. We can take a big lesson here about the difference between duelling and combat.
Oh no... These are the BEST! Better than Raging Bull, The matrix, LOTR, Enter the Dragon, Rocky, Game of Thrones, Excalibur etc. etc. Only the brawl at the End of Police Academy eight even comes close.
I actually enjoyed this movie. It's not going to make cinematic history and it wasn't particularly deep or whatever but it wasn't horrible. I thought it was fun to watch and while it doesn't necessarily warrant the title "best action scenes" they weren't too terrible. Overall, I liked it.
Jeremy Renner is a great action man in his movies , hope he makes more ike this , great actor , maybe he can play a soldier / war movie .he'd be great Like a WW2 soldier Americans V German soldiers , like the great video games like Call of duty WW2 , a movie like that with Jeremy Renner would be fantastic , he would nail it .
Looks to me like they're running out of cinema tropes to add a twist to. Take something from folklore, make it into a vampire/zombie/martial artist.... Then rake in the cash from idiots. This is our generation's Plan 9.... but less entertaining.

They should've cast Gemma as the next Lara Croft. She has the moves, the body, the accent. Perfect casting.
what name of this movie....??
@@myonesylhet1271 read the video name
Tommy wew she isnt
Lara is quite busty and have that slight tanned skin. Gemma's skin is too pale and her face is more round..
No how dare you don't you know feminists dislike big curvy woman
Sad there was never a sequel to this. I would have loved to have seen more.

*The satisfying clang of a shovel to the face*
The best part ever!!! 😂😂😂😂
Love this movie. It's not meant to be deep, but an action packed ride of action, violence, fun and gore.
I love Gemma Arterton. Am I the only one who think she would have been an amazing Lara Croft??
YTazzkickr01 I think she would have been awesome as Alice in Resident Evil don't get me wrong the original is great but she would have been good too
I agree 🤣
Agreed!
She is beatiful and she looks like the new Lara in the Rise of the Tomb Raider
That’s a good shout actually
"Whatever you do, don't eat the fucking candy!!!"
This movie, Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter and a couple of blunts. That’s a good afternoon.
Underrated movie

Nice to see my ex girl friends made it to Hollywood. Their attitude is still the same, though they look much prettier on screen than in real life.

Nick Kunwar What's weird is that I own the movie, and I don't ever remember her saying it.
It is is in extended edition version of the film @@Glaceon42
I thought she said "witch" but anyways this movie is badass 🔥the death scenes are so gruesome...
Gemma Arterton in her leather outfit and kicking ass...

I love Hansel and Gretel i watched it over ten times and im watching it right now
I love the fight scenes, they are freaking awesome, I love how the witches , kick their asses
witches dont do magic... they fight like Jackie freakin' Chan
frenetiQue Magic doesn't work on Hansel and Gretel because their mother was a good witch (She may or may not have bedn responsibile for that)
She is responsible for that, their mom is the most powerful white whitch
We do magic and karate
With magic spell casting 💙
its so funny to se how the guy ducks and let his sister take a hit, ahahahaha

That first fifht with gretel pulling up like a piñata is my favorite
In my honest opinion I still think that Equilibrium has some of the best fight scenes ever.
Qua-Z go watch the raid movies and old boys they have better fight scenes than equilibrium.
Couldn't agree more... Finally I found someone who shared the same taste like me! :D
LOVED this movie
Ronald Rickard can you tell me the movie name?

I love that comment. "Oh. I like your toys..."

Gotta be not really smart if you lose against two guys with guns when you can rewrite reality at your wim.

Me after watching this : Witches also know kung fu '😂😂
I found it fun. Didn't expect much, but it quite entertaining when you roll with it

ALSO:
IT's THE FIREFLY GUY!
SebSk that's not wash it's hawkeye from avengers. Wash from firefly is played by different actor.
Love the hard-hitting version of this fairy tale!
wish there will be a sequel of this film. love this film :D
You got to love the sound of the shovel hitting the head(frying pan) always my favorite.
I love when the little girl said "is it much hotter now bitch"

+MarauderHealth FIN It wasen't a random stick. Is was the flying brom of the evil witch....well more a fork but its the same mostly.
its called a broom
They were protected from magic by a spell from their mother. So, yeah.
We need more R rated films like this

If they used magic the protagonists would have been fucked in the first minute of the movie. That's why this movie is boring.
HerrMasterLizard
They used Juggernaut's herp derping style of magic. I'M GONNA USE MAGIC TO MAKE MYSELF STRONGER AND TOUGHER!
This is more like Hansel and Gretel getting beaten by witches.
It's funny how much they get their asses kicked in this movie.
I mean since the magic don't work on them the hands will 😂😂😂😂
It's not easy as human to hunt witches.
