    At age 21 I saw ETD and that scene with O'Hara - was extraordinary. This movie so impressed me that is may have been the inspiration for my lifelong fitness and appreciation of MA, although I think it started 7 years earlier. Would love to have also see one of the greatest legendary MA ever, undefeated, 63 wins, 57 knockouts, 0 losses. 1st BB attacined at age 14, and 9 BB disciplines - Benny "The Jet" Urquidez.

    • @tubucoco
      @tubucoco Рік тому +1

      The look on Bruce's face was of pure perfection and a defining moment of his great acting skills as well as him being the complete Martial arts master. A lot of people don't realize that Bruce Lee had been acting since he was a young child. His parents were actors or performers that toured China doing various theatrical plays. So, Bruce was a complete actor as well as a complete Martial arts master by the time he reached adult age. So, when you see him doing this face right here in ETD, he is conveying the anger of vengeance, and the emotional pain of losing his sister along with the sorrow, and then finally the relief of having avenged her all rolled up into one incredible face that he displays. Every time I see that face it reminds me of what a great actor he was! It's lost on people, the actor he was because we're so blown away by his kung fu skills.

    The fact that people start comparing bruces acting with other new actors is so humiliating. Bruce lee acted in a time where technology in its begining of development. With no extra photoshoping. Some action scenes he did it in a single stretch where our new stars take 4 to 5 shots before completion. Bruce had to slow down his actions inorder for the camera to catch his moves. In todays movies computer need to speedup actions inorder to make it look more realistic.

      People can put other martial artists in lists of great fight scenes without taking away from Bruce. He paved the way for sure, but others added their own flare. Like Jackie Chan with his use of props and the whole set, or Jet Li with his traditional styles, or Tony Jaa bringing Muay Boron/Muay Thai into the limelight, and same for Iko Uwais with Silat.

    Happy to discover this gem. I've seen so many martial arts movies dating from the 70s up till today. The fights here from " Blood and Bone" are superb in its own "karate/jiu-jitsu" combat style:
    clean and neat, basic, no complex moves (think Steven Seagal's or Jet Li's or Wing Chun etc.), no rope, no close-up frames... One can tell the actors are real fighters. Lots of nice kicks which is rare to see nowadays and refreshing to watch.

      @@austinhaut864 wikipedia says karate, takewondo and kung fu. Interesting because I definitely saw some ITF Taekwondo in there. I wonder what level of black belt he is in each of those? It's rare to have people in UFC/MMA who are actually good at per se martial arts, as opposed to western kickboxing and what amounts to western wrestling ("brazilian jujitsu", created by Scottish family Gracie who reside in Brazil but are not Latinos). White seems, in this movie at least, to actually be good at per se martial arts.

      This ended with what looked like the setup for a sequel. Another idea and I actually found out his email and told him (Matt Mullins) is that just as Uri Boyka became the hero of Undisputed 3 and 4 I think "Pretty Boy" price should have had his own spinoff movie as the HERO. He was not really a villain, it was just his job to fight Bone. He might not have been aware of the level of criminality of his bosses. Maybe in his spinoff he is horrified to find out how evil McVeigh really is and he takes the moral high ground and opposes McVeigh and defends some innocent people McVeigh tries to kill or harm.
      Bone never really met his match and kind of Supermanned his way through the movie. I think in the sequel he should have had to face a martial artist villain who, unlike Price absolutely matches him in strength, fighting ability and all around "badassness'. Have an enemy that makes Bone the UNDERDOG. Maybe Bone finally ekes out his win but takes a lot of damage doing it.

They incorporated feints, Mullins lands some good hits to show that he's a legitimate threat, both of their fighting styles shows the personality and confidence of each fighter and you can actually see MJW almost slip. Chuck norris was his best student and he was good but he was nowhere near mr. Lee and his abilities. Whats funny is mr White is retaining his "humanity" what he does in his movies is beneath him quite literally. He can jump more like twice that high and punch twice as hard. He does not want to hurt us. He is beyond our understanding. I do know this however, he can do everything bruce could do except with much more power. Bruce didnt live long enough to reach grandmaster status basically. Bruce had more to give but had nobody to give it to. He needed only 1 warrior of equal or greater ability to ascend. He was actual legend yes but even he was lacking.

      MJW has to much “ movie moves” , take the last fight he is in the guy id a half decent fighter it goes on a he s dumb fuck.. totally unbelievable … Bruce Lee is working off a mickie mouse budget, has to argue with the director to get the camera shot ( that not only put Bruce as fighter but as a director on the map) and as he said himself …. It always had to be truthful.. meaning he could do it for real , that what has stood the test of time ….. had he got the equivalent of a big budget, like your man , the mind boggles at the possibilities, the man was a brilliant martial artist and an very capable actor, he was after all a child actor, but what makes him the one that every martial artist is compared with is his dedication to every detail of his craft.. he was brilliant, and that is not an opinion, that my friend is a fact, and the prove is the reason why people say that this guy or that guy is better …. Why the comparison if their so brilliant? You compare with greatness to when you want to be great .. but the truth is greatness is seen fluidity of movement, the grace of style , the dedication to detail, and it does not mimic it had it own individuality… and that is Bruce Lee

    Yeah I don't know what happened to MJ White. This was undoubtedly his best film and I thought he'd take off after that but no it hasn't happened. All his films have been pretty average or poor since. But the movie, Blood and Bone, was first class. The story was good, the direction was great, the action was brilliant, the acting was superb and very watchable - in fact you can watch this over and over again - like all great movies. So I'm left disappointed that nothing before or since as good as this has come from him.

      I liked your comment because I am a big fan of Bruce Lee. I rewatch the Legend of Bruce Lee 50 episode single series and it never gets old. I never skip and watch it thru. However! I disliked the Enter the Dragon movie entirely. Bruce Lee was Godly compared to all the bad guys and that was kinda boring for me to watch. The Only person who had skill in that movie was Bruce, everyone else was a noob.
      Bruce Lee for example is like if reality took Scott Adkins Or Donnie Yen etc from 2010, and travelled that modern fighter to the era of Bruce Lee, is Bruce Lee. Imo. Imagine if Bruce Lee was in his prime in our era of time, his fight scenes would be so many times better because people in Bruce Lee's era couldn't fight real combat even with a traditional art being mastered because Bruce Lee was MMA strictly for combat like the pro fighters are today, inspired by Bruce originally with MMA, JKD is mma. And mma is kung fu because of Bruce.
      If Bruce was in our era of time and knowledge in his prime, that would be pretty damn scary. And people don't realize Bruce was too good for his era of time. He really was a Legend. This is all Imo.
      I been learning Chinese bc the 50 episode series, there's no English.

      @@coincollectorchase Bruce was one of a kind; an incredible human being and great master of his craft. Unfortunately, he was not invincible. A mistake in not warming up cost him greatly as he suffered from chronic back pain for the rest of his (short) life.
