" If you have that culture of kindness in Sri Lanka..." Well said, madam. I really appreciate what you say. The exact word is, "if". Being a prominent Buddhist country, it is paramount that those who adhere to Lord Buddah's teaching adhere to his damma. Kindness is the theme of his preachings. If Sri Lankan Buddhists adhere to his teachings, then this country would really be the Pearl of the Indian Ocean. Thank you, madam.
Absolutely amazing! Around 2018, during a monthly meditation program at her university, an Asapuwa Buddhist monk passionately advocated for the implementation of a TED talk model program to enrich the university stage with valuable knowledge resources. But no one cared. Now, they are successfully presenting TED talks. I strongly believe that Japura University should consider initiating a similar program at their university.
0:010:010:01 Professor Malavige is an amazing lady, down to earth and so humble with her position and qualifications All of us, Sri Lankans have a lot to learn from a person of this calibre. I am not in the least surprised at the topic she is speaking on, so important and relevant for our country in this day and age It works for all of us irrespective of peer group or age. I am an old person writing this. Blessings
A treasure from Sri Lanka, prof. Neelika, A very profound and highly intellectual at her best of simplicity, so any person can understand, a most needed thought for the survival of our planet, love your neighbour as you love one another(mark 12:30-31),it's the survival guide.
Great Neelika. A few knows the contribution you and your team made. But not a single politician. You know how the minister made money putting the patients at risk. Anyway you have chosen the most suitable topic which have been taught to us 2600 years ago, but people are not just bothered. 'Karaneeya metta kusalena ......'❤
Well, call it kindness if you must. I would say that it's the willful collective responsibility of a group of people who's intention is the betterment of mankind instead if winning accolades singularly for themselves. I wish you all the very best madam Prof Neelika, to show the way in this academic Vipers' pit of Sri Lanka. And I insist that this kindness towards all without any discrimination should be cultivated in childhood by the immediate carers, parents, grandparents & primary teachers onwards by example 🙏
There cannot be a better time to talk about this where the world is getting overwhelmingly competitive including academia! Collaboration and helping each other are the key. Welldone Prof. Neelika 👏
First time in TEDx, saw an erudite Sri Lankan lady delivered a nice speech. I think it's a great encouragement for younger generation to go forward and overcome any challenge..........
Feeling so proud not only because I'm a Sri Lankan but also as a student of University of Sri Jayewardenepura who have been a student of Prof Neelika herself
Good lesson. Entering University of Ceylon , Engineering faculty before became University of Sri Lanka as an Electrical and Electronic undergraduate we came across lot of harassment (academic nature) from few of my lecturers. We were not extended kindness/support but humiliation. However, this thuggery had developed my strength (thick skin) to withstand any calamity. While following my Masters in Australia, I have observed the support and kindness from all academic staff with no differentiation. I believe the root cause of Sri Lanka's destruction and current state because most of them are arrogant.
It’s our culture made people to be selfish. We are a nation that understood generosity in a different way therefore they are not really helping each other .
Dear Professor Neilika Congratulations and we are very proud of you.Your contribution to themedical research is enormous and had many prestigious awards..Most of all you are so human and simple. Bless you. Dr Gamini and Dr Neelamanie Punchihewa
What's needed as human beings...yes it's kindness and survival. Great love comes from the bottom of my heart. I really felt it. We are humans not animals who used to survive... survival of the fittest is out for us. We can propogade with the theme SURVIVAL WITH THE KINDNESS. ❤
Totally agree with her, I myself try my best to be kind to people most of the time, It works for sure. Sometime it is difficult to maintain this, but if you practice kindness, it can be achieved. Congratulations! Hope many can understand what she say, mostly kind people will understand this for sure.
Wonderful speech Madam and deep meaning too. I have experienced a culture of kindness Ma'am, here in Sri Lanka. It is in the Postgraduate Institute of Management (PIM), University of Sri Jayewardenepura. Also, tje hard part was the Research Project and my Supervisor was Dr. Sandamali Galdolage, Head, Department of Marketing, University of Sri Jayewardenepura. Thanks to them Kind Souls - both Faculty and Students I succeded the MBA ! ❤ 🙏 💐
The theme has a relevance to her personal experiences. It has impacted her and has led to greater achievements. Thus, it could give a message to the world and to current world affairs in a more broader sense and perspective. Love, kindness, and compassion are major components under her theme. Truley practising of those by anybody will achieve desired results, and the world will become a peaceful and better place for everyone! It also has a much relevance in today's context. Thank you for the presentation! Best wishes for your future endeavours!
Thank you Madam for inspiring speech...... You has been a motivational figger for many of us especially after pandemic we should thank you and althe team how they stood up to save many lives......
