>16 voices on arpeggiated chords
Goodbye cpu
my laptop can barely handle Serum as it is XD
@Tyler Durden apperently 16 gigs of ram is enough for it then lol
@@ghostham1635 mine too
I just use 6-8 voices (sort of sounds the same as 16 I guess) before it sounds like my laptop is going to self destruct lol
Yeet I did same in my track buy my cpu is fine :)
Sometimes I think he uses a different version of Serum that makes everything sound better
I think He layers both Digital and analog synths
@@VivekKumar-fg4qc no. It’s saturation and chains of it from his desk, that we’ll probably never get our hands on. Saturation is the key
@@nikolaudio How saturation can make such Difference bro. And it sounds so lush
@@VivekKumar-fg4qc because of the upper harmonics it imposes on a signal. It is this "filling" of a harmonic range that adds the distinguished "full" and rich sound to his signal
@@nikolaudio there must be some other gears as well. Which are making it sound good.
This guy is the master of moving shit around randomly and turning it from one masterpiece to another
that's because it's not random.
@@elfferich1212 It is called music theory and it is needed by true musicians.
@@eme7305 if you don't know music theory, you are just copying and pasting... Real musicians don't do that
@@Colin_Lawlor_Audio what exactly are you just copying and pasting? If you're creating chords from scratch and by ear what difference does it make?
I COULD LISTEN TO THESE CHORD PROGRESSIONS ALL DAY LONG.....
same, he's so good at chords
me too
5:42, thats just... game over
I was not expecting how good those synths with the piano is. Honestly, I wonder what happened to this song...
thats kontakt for you dude. one of the best samplers out there thats why it carries a 3 or 400 price tag
nope, I just searched for it on NI's site and you can download the sampler for free
Richard Vanni I know but Jon McConnell went just for the player
He just livestreamed this days ago. This song is still probably getting worked on. Who knows if it will ever be released though.
lets pray
I really feel sorry for all the people that are never gonna hear deamdau5´s music
deamdau5 😔
He's got an amazing sense of melody
That's why we're watching this video, his famous for that
@@einorauhala1749 And everyone else is not.
He's literally thrown together a couple of cords and an arpeggiator on them... "Sense of melody".... lol
@@iemgote7249 You can make anything sound stupid by simplifying it like that
Nick W I didn’t simplify anything dummy. This is literally some arpeggiated midi chords on a vst synth. How complicated is that?
This is what I really like about his music: It has this strong analog/retro vibe.
Sound design at its finest.
really this does not sound analogue :P ....
I love how quick he decides everything. Choose one thing and continue. Not like me, I spend 4 hrs listen to the same loop changing a kick.
I'm trying to learn sound design for two years now and usually i get crazy while i make something on serum trying to sound like producer from the dubstep scene... but every time i see one of joel's live streamings i learn that often the secret is in simpler waveforms and melodies... that's sound design guys, i still have to learn a lot but this is the right way
hows it going now?
I am learning the same! And it is a boost to my confidence.
If anyone can make a simple saw wave sound this good, it's got to be Deadmau5.
Serum is pleasure when we get that sound
Yes it certainly does, as I love serum for bass sounds which goes along the beat , as it’s a pleasure to watch dead muau5 at work, I never heard of him until now, as music producer of uplifting euphoria trance this certainly takes it to the next level
@E SSW
too much trance molly
it’s literally just synthesis any synth can do these. serum just likes killing your cpu if you use more than 6 voices
Damn that Serum sounds great! Loving it at 6:23
That last chord in the loop is absolutely amazing.
i cant believe how amazing he is at chord progression
It’s called Cthulhu.
@@passje8007 Cthulhu isn't making the progression in this case
@@passje8007 chords button is off
@@passje8007 Cthulhu is just making the arpeggios all the chords are from Joel
@@passje8007 tell me you dont know music theory without telling me...
This is so much like better listening to than music playlists because you can also learn as a producer what he tweaks in the background without watching the video. (and developing your ear for sound design)
this recording clip is seriously the sickest thing that's happened to me all week!! Power to you
This video is genius. Thank you for uploading it. It's helped me so much
So when people praise deadmau5 for not stacking layers, its just because he maxes out the unison on his serum patches.
Lul.
stacking layers and adding unison aren't quite the same thing, buddy.
@@dokeypokey2254 it kinda is
@@epidote6020 Not really, when you add a voice of unison you add a detuned version of the same sound. When you stack layers you create different sounds which compliment each other in order to get a fuller sounding end product. E.g. adding unison to a saw wave to create a supersaw versus stacking layers such as a triangle, square and a saw square waves to create a super saw sounding product.
@@TheDemonwolf2198 a layer is a layer no matter if it's the same wavetable or not. Detuning a sound achieves a different purpose than adding like a bass sound, (stereo width), but so does adding a pluck sound to a lead. you can technically layer a bunch of different wave tables, detune each of them differently and pan them differently which would create the same effect, would that still not be considered layering with your view point? Adding voices of unison is layering, adding a lead to a bass is just adding another instrument to a band (still layering yes I know). Double tracking guitars and panning then 100% both sides is layering and it achieves the same effect as a detuned saw.
@@epidote6020 no its not. Pls stop it. There are people who watch these videos to learn things and pls don't spoil it
Could listen to this forever... I swear, this is the best asmr out there.
that arpeggiated chords are
hypnotics *_*
Is about one week I`m listening to them every day like a fool
I can watch deadmau5 making song all day

Oskillator hey i managed to make this into an actual song! Now this was a while ago but search Zach Ryckman - Monster

I was in his master class and he taught and showed some amazing shit , overall it was awesome. This guy's is legend.
I could listen to this all day
Joel is a master
This does NOT sound like the Serum version I own🤣🤣🤣
Track Taylor hes probably running it through his eventide effects processor
@@jimmy-hp6yo Ahh..explains alot :)
@@jimmy-hp6yo LMAO! You're probably right. Eventide, if you're listening: please at least do the Splice/Slate Digital model with your VSTs!!

Gracias master ! Por compartir contenido y por su talento artístico ! Estoy al tanto de todos sus videos ! Saludos !
This is one of his most beautiful piano + synth combinations, I really hope this gets released !
Also, why did you transpose the original key -_____- first one is much more pretty imo.
Did this actually get released?
@@andrewweigand3297 yes deadmau5 - 4ware

These chords are perfect
That chord progression is beautiful
Somfay - A Catch in the Voice - is the album that taught me valuable lesson - modulation is the key to everything.

THANK YOU A LOT!!!
I miss this guys streams ☹️
amaying chord progressions
This is the same project as the ‘Deadmau5 writes haunting chords then bins it’ video. Turns out he didn’t bin it :/
simple lowpass saw pluck. simply amazing arrangement.
Straight gold right there
It's just a saw... but it sounds so good. How?
Thank you❤❤

Amazing video
Feels like heaven.
4:27 - 4:38 i just fucking lost my mind right there. LOOORD AND BEEHOOOLD
Man, this sounds so unbelievable...How could he not finish this track? I can imagine hearing this live, waiting for the kick to drop!!! Would be so amazing. Joel, if you're reading this, please finish this track once and for all!
So interesting to watch how he makes his chords.
How is this so good? I love the Arpeggio
Immense! I need to learn this
This is crazy!
First bit of Automation by Jamiroquai sounds similar to his arp riff. Had to come back 3 weeks later just to make sure it wasn't the same thing haha
In one video, deadmau5 demonstrates how to use Serum for Progressive House more effectively than any other tutorial ever has, all without speaking.
I loved hearing that analogue sound sing out on the higher notes, especially towards the end when he upped the octave.
7:55 actually sounds really good
THE VIBES
And the very next day I got abelton.
Repeat this.
Repeat this
Repeat this
Repeat this
I love doing this.
Awesome!
Funny, I watched this after your click-bait video of him "binning" some chords and hey! there they are.
that's those deadmau5 chords for ya....i got another binning video coming right up for ya!
destiny respawn logo ahgaghhga i loved that game...
When you have whole studio with hardware synths around you, which costs thousands of dollars but anyway you choose Serum. Thats why I don't use hardware at all :)
He does use those modular synths for the final sounds, but for sketching ideas he uses Serum to get the sound in the right ballpark.
plz release this some day ;(
I guess it was a base project for "Saved", check it out
Wow wow Wow sounds so good musical genius ❤️❤️❤️
Nice!
Oh my god that arp....
Serum is a beast of a synth!! Cthulhu not to shabby either :)
Sounds like hit save, especially the older versions.
So fucking amazing!
worked!
Producer tip "Mix in mono" sounds "Mix in stereo, not in 3D" for Joel
This synth sounds good...
This is the cardinal sin of EDM
sick
thats hot
Wow just wow
I can't believe his masterclass ad appeared to me while opening this video🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
