I'm a shit producer at best, but if I had to make a guess it's probably because it's too similar to his usual stuff. Plus, to be quite honest, he could probably make something similar in a short amount of time. The video is only about 20 minutes long, which is arguably not that long. I honestly think the guy's on a quest to find a new sound and that's why I like deadmau5 and respect him highly as an artist. He's so bent on trying to find a new sound he's more or less going underground now. He could probably easily make an EDM banger or live off his old sound, but he clearly doesn't want to. As someone who loves and makes uplifting trance that's honestly one of the biggest downfalls of uplifting trance. While it's infinitely more complex than your typical EDM the sound usually doesn't change. Hell, I jump between genres to get away from my generic uplifting trance sound.
Yeah I agree. As an addicted trance fan, the flexibility of the genre has died since the uplifting vocal madness from 2008-2012. Everyone just thought about fame and money that they lost sight of creativity. Now you got people doing big room "trouse" and other garbage.
The people commenting on the stream are the reason why I have such a hard time drawing in public. Everyone wants to watch or listen and continue to throw in their opinions and sometimes you get self-conscious and it ruins the work in a sense that it isn't really *your* work anymore. It's what someone else convinced you to do to your work. I'm jealous of the people that can ignore what people say, and continue to do what they want regardless of what those that are watching or listening will think.

I don't even know his music, I have to educate myself a bit. I love his producing class ad yes. I hope he's true.. but then, I also don't care, there is no big deal here. I'm a producer/composer, and I know it's just not possible to grab every idea that flies by. Even if you store it for later, when you're going to pick it up, huh? Music works the best when it's created from day 0 - and finished during the same day. That's how Hardfloor worked, for example. I usually can't do that, have many other things to do througout the days and weeks, but the inner feel is generally lost when you go to sleep. There are exceptions though, and not all tracks require that feel. Adding all the publicity, gigs and stuff I say it really is not a big deal. Except maybe for the sake of annoying people ;) Essentially, why? It's his music, his job. That's why.
Insane Membrane, Thank you for pointing that out. That is EXACTLY what I was trying to do, HELP HIM. I had to spam it cause he was focused on his ableton screen, and only occasionally looking at the chat room. Big ruckus over nothing. And yes, I am Parallox. And yes, I have met Joel IRL.
As much as I *love* the sound of this unfinished piece and find it very relaxing, at the same time I can totally see why he deleted it. It's not so much that there's anything wrong with it, given it never got to be a fully refined piece, but it's about 10% too much the same as some of his other work.
If i EVER worked or see someone working on this program...... I'LL SNATCH THAT FUCKIN MOUSE I'LL GO TO THE FUCKIN MENU AND I'LL HIDE THAT FUCKIN KEYBOARD!!!
it's incredible watching these musicians work live, seeing them bringing music from out of nowhere and giving it live is astounding. Some people trying to put down these DJ, saying they only mashes bunch of different already made songs together, but that's not always the case because I think they sometimes produces their tunes
todroyas well is that not a good thing? It may sound different from what mau5 here is doing but that does not imply that it is wrong. A friend of mine once said that you should take inspiration from others around you and meld it into a sound that is true to you. Nobody is going to sound like Deadmau5 because only Deadmau5 can sound like Deadmau5. You can copy his synths and style but no matter how close you get to imitating him, it will always sound like a ripoff. And nobody wants to sound like a Deadmau5 ripoff. My advice is for you to take that sound you made and to just run with it. Throw in some MiDi notes and let the music flow through the software as an extension of yourself. You will find that your greatest works will occur when you are least trying. Cheers :)
Hey Everyone. I have no idea why everyone made such a big deal about the whole keyboard thing, so I will just give my side of it. Earlier in his session, he said he thought there was a way to hide the keyboard. Not sure why he wanted to get rid of it, but maybe it was annoying, maybe it ate an extra few processing cpu cycles within Ableton. In any case, I happen to have both Cthulhu and Serum (I love xfer plugins) so I opened up my Ableton and did a quick check, and despite what I said earlier, there is a way to disable it. I figured I help him out by relaying the info to him. Sorry if I spammed it, but he was focused oh Ableton screen and only occasionally looking at chat. I was just trying the help him make his music, even if it is something as minuscule as disabling a graphic keyboard on a plugin, at least I helped in some way. Anyway, not sure what the ruckus is all about. If I recall the session, he had saved the work, probably to work on it another day, or incorporate it into a new piece, he does that with a lot of his work if you follow him. Anyway, that is my side of it. And Yes, I am THAT PARALLOX. And Yes, I have met Joel IRL.
"Finally, I helped with producing :)" God I can imagine the shit eating grin on your face as you wrote that. You didn't do shit but spam the chat with toxic bullshit, he'd figure it out eventually either way and I highly doubt he read any of your messages. Stop being such an idiot and cease backseating in chat as well, you're making a fool of yourself. I do realize that this is six months old too, but I just couldn't help but reply.
Watch and watch more this same vid and learn He creates the pads chord progression using 5ths then uses a ARP for the melody then takes the bottom notes of the pad for the baseline. Simples
It’s sad to see artists trash their work unaware on how impactful it is to its audience. Unfortunately I think we are all victims of this particular mindset we have.
Actually no. Even if everyone started doing music until the end of humanity, I doubt that will happen. There are just too many. Even by counting in a major scale, not having the notes too spaced and always having a root note, there are soooo many possibilities, even for a eight notes song. Also if you take out every song that copy each other... And I am not speaking about soundfonts or rythms.
+Oskillator so talk us through the routing etc here. What's that being recorded at bottom of his channel near the master bus. is that midi from cthulu arp
I don’t try to make the same music but for my music tech class at school I always save anything for later cos I know when I’m bored/finished my essay I go back to them with fresh ideas. That process repeats quite alor
I probably would've deleted this too. Usually if you're working on one sound for that long, that means you're not really feeling it. If you're not feeling out the whole direction outside of what you have, then you're just making a loop and it's a waste of time. I was getting that feel from this one. On a side note, there's something so satisfying about the low end of deadmau5's music. It's hard to explain. It has the perfect.. almost texture. I'm jealous.
He deletes it because he doesn't think it's good. I've seen my mate do this a lot. It's not the same when you're actually the person creating it.
Geeeee8 I'm in graphic design and sometimes I delete my work just tu push myself to create something more creative. holding onto the first thing that sounds/looks good is the biggest mistake you can make in creative work.

"Hey this sounds like avantia"
Ffs most popular songs use the same scale and some use same chord progs all the time damn
Avataria?

Ouch?
@@JT-tp7on he hid the keyboard 😳
An ad?
10:16 - 11:05 imo was the best part. Dark ominous tone and feel really hit the right spot. Probably hit the bass really good in the stereo.
Imo all harmonizing (not not in tune) parts of this video should be put in one track and released it‘s a whole deadmau5 track tbh😂
Sounds a bit like "Sirius" by the Alan Parsons Project
The arp of "4ware"
18:02 in chat '' what is producing? "
*yes*
It's 2018 am still waiting recreation of this fckin amazing chord......
I'm Jokersteve someone uploaded the second melody from this stream and called it "deadmau5 - happy accident"
It's already a song I think it's avatari
Guys, the reason he deleted the track was because "SoundHound" recognized it as another song that was similar... Deadmau doesn't take the risk...
I want the songs that is similar,
TryHarderNoob me too ¡
Or he could have just thought.
"What would piss Everyone off? Hmmmmm mm"
As much as I *love* the sound of this unfinished piece and find it very relaxing, at the same time I can totally see why he deleted it. It's not so much that there's anything wrong with it, given it never got to be a fully refined piece, but it's about 10% too much the same as some of his other work.
His big atmos speaker studio is just a luxury for him. Look at him just chilling out and relaxing on his own beat
Learned more from a deadmau5 mistake than 6 years of college. Pay attention kids.
Learned more from home in 15 mins than a whole 6 years of my crap IT teacher
what mistake?
This is heaven, could you imagine if he finished it... pure bliss.
Loved the deep bass-y sounds in the beginning honestly. Had a lot of depth either way.
If i EVER worked or see someone working on this program......
I'LL SNATCH THAT FUCKIN MOUSE
I'LL GO TO THE FUCKIN MENU
AND I'LL HIDE THAT FUCKIN KEYBOARD!!!
Boner Johnny Ask parallox -_-
I like the keyboard.
I love all the people in the live chat piping up with their opinions and advice as if he's taking that onboard

He deleted it because Parallox pulled him out of the "Zone"
it's incredible watching these musicians work live, seeing them bringing music from out of nowhere and giving it live is astounding. Some people trying to put down these DJ, saying they only mashes bunch of different already made songs together, but that's not always the case because I think they sometimes produces their tunes
I wish I could create synth patches like his.
todroyas r u kidding? It's not hard to set up
It's a saw wave lowpassed. 3 voices detuned a bit. Ping Pong delay :)
Amair I can hear that. It's just whenever I try to do it it sounds completely wrong.
todroyas well is that not a good thing? Cheers :)
todroyas I can! :)
I think 7:33-12:37 evolved into "Bridged by a Lightwave"
Absolutely
yep
i love how intense that spike got. im not a music person but i loved 1:28. this was "feels" too.

Lovely session of music creation from the Mau5. Thanks for uploading.
Simon Björkman your welcome I enjoy it as well.

wait whats so good about hiding the keyboard?
Liam C an extra 10x900 pixels of sceenspace
What program is that?
Alberto Rovai he's using abelton
Literally says it at the top ...
Stephen Parallox thx for the reply... Its just a little silly to spam somthing as small as that. But we now know it was for a good cause.. 👍👌
Haha we appreciate you dude. Im blown away by these sounds though
I wish i was clever enough to created melodies like this on the spot. So simple but impactful
Watch and watch more this same vid and learn
He creates the pads chord progression using 5ths then uses a ARP for the melody then takes the bottom notes of the pad for the baseline.
Simples
GUYS OMG , I KNOW HOW TO HIDE THE KEYBOARD!!!!!!
Lol “backseat producer”
.
Lol
It’s sad to see artists trash their work unaware on how impactful it is to its audience. Unfortunately I think we are all victims of this particular mindset we have.
spoilers: keyboards are hidden @ 17:53
in his masterclass he said he deletes the project if he doesnt know what else to do or if it isnt going anywhere
Parallox is still, to this day, trying to tell Deadmau5 how to hide the keyboard
This track will be perfect for the Forza Horizon series
this part reminds me of Forza Horizon - 14:57
It sounds a little like Language by Porter Robinson, which was the main theme song of Forza Horizon 1
@@Graystripe345 agreed, but too bad that won't happen 😂
For past 8 months i come back to youtube daily specially to watch this video. If only deadmau5 recreate it. 14:46 is where i go breathless 🙏

the "backseat producers" comment made me chuckle lul

This pops up in my recommended once a week. What's funny is I saw this the week it happened, if I wasn't in his stream at the time.

@@Azfan i mean.. its true though
@@1ItzAlex you have serious problems
One day every note and chord will have been taken. One day we will run out of music lol
Nah, we're going to get AI generated pop music and the end of civilisation.
No we won’t there’s a video on that. It’s impossible
Hey vsauce, Michael here
Good thing Rhyrhm vastly changes the same notes and chords.
1:21 sounds like avaritia ❣️

Slightly more aids than youtube comments.
+HoCoRydaaH cancer aids
So he is routing the chord progression through cthulu arp in tandem at the same time
C Dorman yes. You can layer as many of those as your CPU can handle.
C Dorman yes. You can layer as many of those as your CPU can handle.
+Oskillator so talk us through the routing etc here. What's that being recorded at bottom of his channel near the master bus. is that midi from cthulu arp
toward the end the bassline is looping at 3/4 instead of the 4/4. it flows so well. love it.
I took Joels Master Class, he never deletes anything...saves it to a separate folder for a rainy day.
Damn the “hide the keyboard” guy is annoying
Yeah, the fkin paradox xD
this is a reminder that nothing is forever,
life is ephemeral and goes by really quickly,
remember to stop and appreciate it
Joel is a damn genius! He makes works of art in his melodies ♥
He makes it look so damn easy
after all these years thinking why, I finally came to a conclusion. PARALLOX was the reason he deleted the video!!!! Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa
Still to this day one of the most beautiful pieces I’ve ever heard, even if its unfinished
You need to listen to more music then

In case anyone's is looking for the song, it's called 'Happy Accident' and was remade at least a couple times now.
To be fair, it’s hardly a track. He just had an idea and he wasn’t feeling it
