Lmfao, my maintenance guy asked if we were keeping a turkey in the next room when he heard my dog making these sounds. First time besides that I've seen the comparison xD
My baby is a Chihuahua/Jack Russell cross to our best guess. He was a rescue from former abuse. When we tried to crate train him, these along with high picked screams were the noises he made when we tried to even put him TOWARDS the crate. In the end, his terror didn't make it worth trying to get him comfortable with it.

Staffies make these noises and act like this, too. When I watched this I recognised every noise and action, having owned staffie crosses most of my life. Beautiful dog.
That makes sense. Staffies were used heavily in the making of the ABPT, so much so that Amstaffs and ABPTs used to be considered the same until the Amstaff was spun off into its own breed.

In the United Kingdom where I live this is a banned breed you have to have a license they have to be muzzled all time in public. So many of them got put down and destroyed when this law came into place and they’re not all dangerous. All dogs can be dangerous. All dogs can be loving and friendly, I would love to change them back in the United Kingdom to load those beautiful dogs be able to run free without, being trapped I hate my country for this.❤
Love the translation commentary! Particularly at the end, outside. Rosie did really well, except for the breaking of the Husky sound barrier. I am so glad you cast all of the animals in the same unbiased light, this bully was just a sweetheart with a very high, loud voice.
In 20++ years working in the veterinary field, these guys and the put bulls never gave me one single issue. Awesome dogs WITH the right owner that knows the breed, but they are truly sweethearts. Like she said in the video.
50% of all dog bites that require a trip to the ER are from pit bulls. And as Vanessa said, these dogs have been bred to fight for a very long time. That breeding includes selecting the most aggressive male and female and mating them. They continued that practice intensively for many years and to this day it is still happening. This breeding has naturally created a dog with a much higher genetic propensity for turning without warning. A dog that is more aggressive and less trustworthy. The stories of the sweetheart pit bull family dog who one day turns and rips apart grandma or a child are all too real. To pretend this isn't true, or that only "bad owners" have pit bulls that turn aggressive is dangerous misinformation and no doubt has played a role in people not understanding the breed. Please don't tell people these dogs are true sweethearts. They have a MUCH HIGHER rate of turning. It isn't the dogs' fault that they've been bred to fight but it is a fact.
It’s like genetics doesn’t exist. Centuries of breeding dogs for aggression and bite strength and the “right owner” overcomes all of it? Enough cuddles and treats and they’re all sweethearts? Pit bulls and pit bull crosses cause 2/3 of all deaths by dog attack in the United States despite being only 6% of the dogs .
@@mygirldarby What part of 'WITH the right owner' wasn't clear and unambiguous? We know reprehensible humans exist and they're freely allowed to breed miniatures of themselves and own dogs. They're the problem. Stop them. Seen more people in the ER from small breeds than large ones, the small breeds just don't get reported because most people don't want to admit they had stitches or lost fingers from one. Even seeing the size of the teeth from the bite wound they'll swear it was a pit for clout and try to implicate a neighborhood dog that's usually owned by a moron so it's believable. Karen with the psycho chihuahua gets to run scott-free. Stop. Stupid. Owners. FOR ANY DOG BREED.
My family has a bully. I don't get to visit very often but I noticed over the last few years as my balance has gotten risky she comes close to guard me from the younger dogs and provide support until I get to a seat. Then she also gets first dibs at kisses, too ❤️
Oh dog noise to draw her attention is so smart, she's so baffled every time. She's a sad little wiggle-worm but I know as soon as the groom is over she's the happiest baby!
Thank you for actually explaining why they have the reputation they do. I don't believe all of them are dangerous but I also get very mad when people just ignorantly say that they're harmless and that all the perceived danger is false. These dogs are not always, but CAN be dangerous. As you said so well at the end of the video, owners need to be RESPONSIBLE if they have this breed or any powerful dog breed.
@@kerrywhimsey2061 Yes, but certain breeds also have a genetic predisposition for certain types of behavior. Not all american pitbulls will be animal/dog-aggressive (as human aggression was never a thing encouraged in a breed originally used for blood sports), but some do have a notably harder time unlearning those behaviors. What's more, some never reliably unlearn these things and simply need to be managed properly to avoid triggering the aggression.
I agree. I used to be a big pit bull defender (which, BTW, is NOT a breed recognized by the AKC) until my dog was attacked unprovoked by a neighbor's pit bull. And a few months later another dog on my street was attacked by a different pit bull. I've known many sweet pit mixes, but I don't want to be the owner of one. Too risky.
Unstable temperaments in pit bull mixes is becoming a serious issue. There is some sort of genetic issue caused by bad breeding. I used to have one and had him PTS because he was truly unpredictable in his aggression towards humans, despite being socialized and trained up well from puppyhood. It's really disappointing to see the types of people who ruined the pit bull mix are now taking up the American Bully, the bully breed created specifically to return to that rock solid temperament the breeds were famous for.

I live in England and my best friends daughter was mauled by one of these in a park, they're rightfully banned in this country and should be outlawed everywhere, they kill and maim so many people and the breeders do evil things like breed them with other breeds to hide their true breed so more people buy them without realising how dangerous they are, TRULY EVIL
I have a half staffie half american and she just accepts her fate 😂😂 has since day 1. Now the dryer is another story. She makes a run for it when that comes 😂😂
Mine was ok with bath time. I used to take her to those washes for doggos and she liked it. I tried to dry her once and that was it. I just put down towels in my back seat and that was fine.
Pittie: "I'm a husky, I swear. Here, let me sing the song of my people and then you'll know that it's illegal to wash me." Also, guh, the toe-sock spots she has on her paws are absolutely adorable. Girl is a straight up diva, no wonder she's so upset.
She looks like a pit puppy I met once (I think she was a pit, she might have been an XL bully from how similar she looks). Sweetest dog ever, but taught me in an instant why they're so dangerous. No, she didn't attack. She just jumped on me and begged for pets, and petting that four- or five-month-old body was like petting a granite statue. Their muscles are just built different, and if you're not very strong and don't start very early, chances are they'll do what they want when they want. Also, since they're so strong, even if they're just defending themselves, they're likely to come out way better off than the dog that attacked them. If a dog attacks a pit or XLB, the attacker is much more likely to suffer injury than its intended victim.
There is an XL Bully puppy currently being trained by the same trainer as my Mastiff puppy. They are in a 6-week board and train program. Gus is still fairly short when compared to my Molly, but I can see the potential power in his body. Our trainer does general obedience, but specializes in service dog and protection/police dog training. Molly will be my service dog. Even if Gus just gets general obedience training, he will be set up to be a wonderful pet his entire life.
This was a really great way to approach discussing this breed. The groups of people who go online saying Pitbull and mixes are all totally sweet and only violent owners create violent Pitbull/Bullies do more harm than good for the cause because the reality is that you don't have to be a violent owner to end up with a dangerous pit or bully, you just have to be a negligent owner when it comes to their socialization and training. That is why we read stories of perfectly normal, loving people being literally torn to shreds by a Pitbull they've owned for half a decade. The reality is these dogs need owners who are willing to put in the time and effort it takes to ensure they are completely safe to keep around other animals and small children. If you aren't capable of putting in that effort, do not get a breed with naturally high prey drive or breeds that were created to fight things like literal BULLS.
and for anyone considering getting a pitbull or any bully breed should remember that genetics also take a huge part in what the dogs temperment will be. I say this because I've seen stories of dogs that have been properly socialized and trained still attack/kill other animals and humans. So specially if you get a pitbull that has an unknown background you might never be able to completely trust that dog. It doesn't make you a bad owner to be extra cautious with dog breeds like these.
It’s the same with Rottweilers. My bf’s family had one that lived till he was 13. His dad trained their dog when he was a puppy & they owned a lot of animals such as chickens,, rabbits, horses. That dog was the sweetest thing until you threatened his people, property, or the other animals. Unfortunately I only met that dog a couple of times before he passed away but after meeting him the first time he would always lay on my feet lol.
100000% agree. As Vanessa has also said multiple times, a dog's nature will be influenced by its genetics and breed. The people on both sides of the "is the bully XL dangerous" argument do the breed a disservice. The people who won't hear a bad thing against them ignore the very real risks that come with such a powerful breed, and the people that believe that the breed shouldn't exist ignore that it's not the breed's fault that they are often owned by reckless owners that don't give them the training they need. However, dogs like the bully xl also do far more physical damage simply because of the breed that they are and the power and strength that they possess. If a tiny little yappy dog goes ape and bites something there's far les chance of whatever it bit dying than with the powerful bite of a bully, so sadly a bully breed snapping is inherently going to be more dangerous. I would never own one. It's simply not a breed I like. I also don't like boxers, mastiffs, pitbulls, bulldogs, bull terriers etc. Do I think the bully xl should be banned? I don't know. I think if we can't trust all owners that buy such a powerful breed to train them, then they can be extremely dangerous. But there are other breeds that can be equally dangerous if not trained and there's far less discussion about them. I don't know what the solution is tbh.
I grew up with staffies and bullies... i can confirm they are very vocal and very loving. I'd have screams of excitement when i get home, huffs and sighs if i dont give cuddles, whines of annoyance if I dont play with them. They also gave the best hugs known to man, and would sleep all day in my arms if i let them 😂❤
I have a mix that I am pretty sure has some staffie in her. I can attest to the sighs and huffs and eye rolls, the drama is real with them and cuddles are a necessity!
I own a pittie/lab/staffie mix. Damn is he vocal and has a really large range of vocalizations depending on what he is trying to tell me. He is 10 months old, and 62lbs.... pretty much a sausage with a cute face.
Nope. In my country these dogs have been banned on account of them killing several people, including a number of children. Amazed to see Vanessa promoting them.
@@Sundae_Times And whose fault is that? Don't blame the dogs for their violent behavior when it was unethical breeding and poor ownership that led to it.
I've had a new dog in my life - Yota. He is near the same exact dog, same age too. He is an absolute sweetheart, wiggles his butt all around, always happy, always joyful, big time goofball, kindof dumb sometimes 😅, but survives and protects my mountain from deer and alerts of larger critters. Easily trainable, but can't be away from owner too long. Whines a bit, but still a puppy. Likes sticks most of all, and we have a lot of that in the woods. Very proud of his sticks, loves fetch, hides his treats and toys, and sleeps most of the night outside by house without too much commotion. Loves affection & attention. Delicate taking treats from my hand. Great with everyone. Calmed down a bit after getting fixed. Puppy dog eyes that melt the heart...very sweet & loyal dog.
Right? She's absolutely gorgeous & makes me miss the pitties we had when I was growing up. Sadly, where I live now, they've been made the victims of that smear campaign of "breed specific legislation", so I can't have one despite that 99.9% of the pitties/pittie mixes I've ever known have been total derpy love-bugs.
I still miss my rescue pit. Otto was the best boi ever, and he would run through every lawn sprinkler but HATED walking in the rain. Baths were anathema also. He lived to seventeen. And he was raised by our cat, so not a problem with other dogs and cats. Yes, they are happy dogs!
Mine didn't HATE the rain but man when it snowed, I couldn't drag her outside to do her business. I'm like listen this is frozen rain and you love baths at the dog wash! She was so silly!
I have mad respect for people who rescue Pits, they are in such high need due to the fact that there's such a stigma against their breed. Not to mention that unfortunately because they are often used as puppy mill/fighting/bait dogs, you really take a gamble on a Pit with an unknown history, but they deserve a chance at a happy life. No one will ever shame me into being anti-Pit.

All breeds of dogs can be dangerous depending on circumstances, training and people’s stupidity in interactions with them.

Such a Beautiful girl. I have had rescued pitties for the past 12 years. Best dogs ever!❤
OMG how silly... and adorable at the same time.
Well said
and for anyone considering getting a pitbull or any bully breed should remember that genetics also take a huge part in what the dogs temperment will be.
@@captainsavvy07 i'd say dogs never should've been bred to attack other animals or humans in the first place

I have a mix that I am pretty sure has some staffie in her. I can attest to the sighs and huffs and eye rolls, the drama is real with them and cuddles are a necessity!

Nope. In my country these dogs have been banned on account of them killing several people, including a number of children. Amazed to see Vanessa promoting them.
