I grew up in a literal hoarder house and was never taught how to clean or organize. I have been learning best practices from UA-cam and have successfully gotten my home majorly decluttered. There is something about a clean space that makes you feel more certain and safe. Thanks for the videos, they help a lot!
I am a natural organizer/ minimalist. Always have been. I get a "high" from taking all of the stuff out of a closet or cabinet and throwing away things or getting rid of things we dont need. Something I have learned about decluttering is that you dont have to get rid of things everytime you declutter....sometimes the space is simply improved by putting each thing back into its place. As an example, my medicine and vitamin cabinet is something that gets everyday use, and so simply going through it every other week and putting all the bottles back in their places is valuable to the aesthetic of the space. It doesnt have to be minimal, just make sure eveingthing has a home.
I'm not sure if it was mentioned at all... another thing that people don't realize is that if you are disposing of any medications that have expired or you just don't need/use; they should really be returned to the pharmacy for proper disposal instead of put in the garbage or down the drain... you don't want medications leaching into the environment.
I used to be a hoarder and was going through "retail therapy" every now n then. But from past year of re-evaluating my habits I realised so many things. Also all these natural disasters going on made me think how much of our resources I , alone, was destroying/expoiting by looking for too much comfort and luxury. I went through decluttering too and it helped me a lot. Now I've very minimal cothing and I repeat clothes not worrying about what people will think of me when I repeat clothes. I really don't. In India, in most of the places we use old, torn clothes to wipe kitchen counters. That way we don't have to buy paper towels, we are saving trees by doing that. Clothes last longer. In mamy ways it's Eco friendly and economic friendly too. Hand me downs were big back in the day. But it has decreased now. But it would be good too. . . I'm opening up about this online or to anyone for the first time and it feels so good!
I have the quote "clutter is postponed decisions" hanging above my desk. Because that is so right! I recently had to downsize and I simply took the opportunity to clean out the clutter - it really is a relief for mental health. Love both your channels! Lot of hugs from social distancing in Germany
I'm so proud of u Angie from women to women,as I said once I am 77 and love and admire what u do. Realized today on this video u are doing for ur audience what I'm sure u do for ur kids keep us up and positive, god bless u Angie I'm Glad our lives crossed on utube♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡
The responding the text messages and emails being postponed decisions rings so true for me. Every year I say to myself that I will be better about that, and it’s something that I am still working on. Thanks for this series!
I’m pregnant with #4 right now and my MIL was just joking with me that I must be nesting hard right now because I’ve been trying to do the same thing to my house. But honestly I feel more like what you were talking about, I’m feeling overwhelmed with the amount of stuff around me and I feel like I need to get my shit together now before I have another baby and it gets even more out of control. We homestead and homeschool and my husband works out of town so I need to get through my house so that I can focus on my priorities and not be bogged down by all those postpones decisions. This series has been a good motivator so thank you Angie!
You and social distancing have inspired me. I'm a student teacher who will not be back in my classroom until April 13th. I'm moving at the end of May and needed to clear out a lot.
Thank you for this video. I have decluttered our whole house too and it has made such a huge difference on my mental health (anxiety and depression). It also allowed me to use some time, and my newly edited space, to create routines for morning and evening that make me feel better. And I've found that kids play much better when they have less toys. Anyway, I love watching your channel! Love from England!
I started the de-clutter, after baby number two ... about two and a half years ago. To help with the overwhelm. One unexpected cool thing, we save more money. After realizing extra stuff just means less headspace, house space, more clutter - the spending has dropped. I even cook this way now. Instead of that buy a new ingredient for a tsp in some random recipe... we just don't do that recipe. So we also have less food waste, and smaller food bills. Started us on our journey to more sustainable living big time. Gave me the energy to think everything through carefully, find out where things come from... instead of cheap new clothes I've managed to buy mostly everything I need at the second hand stores. Shoes and underwear are hard though. We only put out our bin of landfill every two months and its getting less and less. Living with less... is so much happier! Lighter! :) Revelation.
Omg this video hit me hard! I just noticed a few weeks ago that when im under pressure i buy things i dont need:/ when you hear someone talking about their experience n how they went about it, it helps more atleast in my case. Thank you! Im a recent subscriber and for some reason your videos help me with my process of being a better mom and better person overall❤
if you are missing retail therapy, make a pinterest board for each season. Pin the stuff you like, and after a couple of weeks or so, look at what you pinned. take off the stuff you don't love or need anymore. Then look at you current wardrobe and see what new pieces are needed or really wanted, and take off the pins that dont make sense (probably a quick trend). THEN you can go buy something that you will really wear - it feels so much more fun to get something you really wanted for a long time.
Your makeup always looks good, but for some reason, it looks extra pretty in this video! I just noticed that right off the bat, like :30 in, and didn’t want to forget to tell you, even though it has nothing to do with the content. 😊
What you said about postponing things so accurately describes what I do! I've found that really hard to describe to others. I've known it was related to anxiety, but it makes more sense now.
I am from Portugal and we are in quarentine so I am re-watch your videos and trying not to think a lot about what is happening in the world and the future.
If you watch the Minimal Mom she says that everything we own is inventory we have to take care of. She is also great on assisting with mentally how to get ready to declutter certain things like pictures, paperwork, sentimental items. Very good resource
Pregnant with my 5th and have been looking a cleaning decluttering series as I am feeling overwhelmed. I just want to say thank you! Thank you for sharing and opening up your home and heart to let us see your journey.
The mental health was right on key for me! That was my number one benefit and makes it all worth while. Just to be able to manage less is so freeing. I’m so proud of you for doing this! I think you went through the process pretty quickly too!
I found a local Buy Nothing group on FB and it's great. You list things you no longer need for others to pick up, and you can find things you need for free from others too.
It's hard/impossible to donate things so what I do I list them as free to take and usually within few hours someone comes and picks it up. I live in a big city in a neighborhood with loads of small kids so if I need something na I don't mind getting it second hand I would post on our local group and usually someone will show up wanting to sell it :) also my mother in law works in a place with many people in need so when I have things in good condition she first asks around if someone needs it. I only throw out things that are ruined :)
Was happy to hear you have a big family and homeschool so I felt your info would relate to my life and be helpful with my lifestyle :) Thank you for taking the time to make videos and share information 💖
I just have to say, I recently subscribed to your channel and I just can’t stop watching. You just have this sweet spirit about you and I thoroughly enjoy watching your videos. Thank you for sharing so much of your life ❤️
I already suffer from anxiety and depression so I try my best to keep a clutter free home. It helps me to have a clearer mind and less anxious energy. The struggle I have at the moment is my husband, toddler son, and I are currently living with my parents. That being said, all of our stuff is hoarded in 2 rooms. I want to declutter but there isn't anything to declutter, all of the stuff we have is stuff we need or use.
Angela!!!! I just watched the Kerry Thomas clutter Ted Talk you mentioned.....THANK YOU SOOOOOOO MUCH!!!!!!!!!!! I'd say you have no idea how much I needed this...but I'm pretty sure you DO get it!!!!! I connected with so much of your video as well...SO NEEDED RIGHT NOW! Xo
I think you are very insightful person! Everyone’s habits are different and I think it’s really great that you acknowledged the issues that you have and how to strengthen yourself. I think it’s dumb to criticize people on things you can obviously see they are working on...
Iv just cleaned my kitchen reorganised and declutter having new floor layed right now going to do my wardrobe tomorrow and draws and clean my windows and change bedding having Saturday off I'm self isolating for 3months due to having diabetes and other medical issues my husband and son are working so hoping they don't get it love watching you your such an amazing woman 😊
Thank you for being honest and vulnerable with us.I can relate to the anxiety of feeling like a room is closing in on you. Minimizing our home has had enormous benefits as well. Great video. Also you have beautiful eyes. 😊
I have LOVED watching this series. I am working on my home, I am working more a drawer at a time or section of a room. I feel too overwhelmed to do an entire room. I loved the things you shared in this video, they are very informative.
I'm lucky that I grew up with a good organization, cleaning and decluttering lifestyle BUT I'm still learning. It's a constant process to declutter and to remember not too buy stuff you don't need. Less really is more for so many reasons. If I don't put something away immediately then it sits there for ages so I completely understand how people get to that point of complete clutter.
Love this video! I HATE clutter. Having too much stuff sitting around really stresses me out. My husband and I just moved, which gave us the opportunity to really go through a bunch of our stuff and reorganize everything better. It was a lot of work, but I love getting rid of stuff. I want to surround myself with things that are useful, needed, and/or have special significance to me and my family. If it doesn't meet that criteria, it goes!
i lived with my parents till i was 24, and i totally was a hoarder. i kept things and didnt throw them away or go through them because they filled up my drawers and stuff, so i eventually started leaving my clean clothes in baskets and just living out of those baskets. it was totally insane. when i moved out i went through EVERYTHING and i threw out so much stuff. all my clothes fit in my closet now and its crazy how much drawer space i have now. i had three full dressers full of crap and now i only use two drawers in one dresser. its so insane. and its helped me grow more than i could have known
👏🎆💖 yay! Good for you! I have been on a decluttering journey for sometime now. Our circumstances are so different, but I feel like we are all united after cleansing ourselves of excess things at the end of the process. Thanks for the inspiration, for putting in the time and energy to share your process with people, to inspire me to get up and keep going. I have subscribed because I am now excited to follow along your new adventure of homesteading eventually. You will get there, and it will be awesome! God bless your family ❤✝️
Retail therapy is so bad and I struggle with it so much. It was really bad for me when my mom passed away. I love what you had to say about retail therapy it is not therapy at all.
Here in Switzerland IKEA gives the opportunity to bring back used IKEA-furniture which are still good, you can resell them back to IKEA and get a small amount of money back. We are still decluttering, but as long as I can see progress... thanks for sharing your thoughts. I really like listening to you.
I stopped hanging on to things that have sentimental value but stay in a box. If I havent looked at in in more than a year. I wont miss it! Also getting rid of things on garbage day helps with quick decisions
I do that same evaluation of time vs money when deciding to sell or donate. Thred up was a great, easy way to sell clothing items. Since your older girls seem interested in making a little pocket money, maybe they have the time and interest to sell some items?
I wish my husband would say do my closet. He is a hoarder and I'm the opposite. He will even go through the garbage if he knows I threw something of his away. It's awful
It sounds like you experienced the angel and devil on your shoulders within your own-self prior too the decluttering series of decluttering your mind & house. I’ve enjoyed the series. ❤️☀️🌸🦋
I also do shop when im feeling extremely down or stressed, it made me feel good about myself. I am a sucker for sale situations, the low prices get me. I grew up without money and i couldnt aford basically anything i wanted, i always had to wait and just look away and get past that, so now that i finally can buy things, cause i have enough financial basis. I just dont tend to buy clothes in the first place, i still buy practical things that we need and use. At least i try to direct it in a good direction. I just buy things that are sometimes a bit too expensive maybe and not extremely necessary. I buy things like cups, and pots, thermo bottles, sheets, home decor, plates, etc ... and its not cheap, cause I work in a store that sells upper end items, i am surrounded by items id like to have and i can plan out what i really need and want :D but it does make it hard to resist buying stuff >.>
Homeless shelters ofter take used towels, worn blankets aso to. Some of them gladly accept opened showercreams, cleaning stuff and things like that to. Most ppl bin underwear in good condition tho some shelters welcome those things to. T-shirts, socks, rainclothes aso and toys! there is loads of kids in need to.
I’m curious to know how the kid spaces are still doing. Have the kids given you feedback about being able to find things, missing things that are gone. Maintaining tidiness in the bathroom and closets. How are their “stress” levels about using their spaces.
As I’ve decluttered I’ve really seen my house and it’s space differently. What was just enough is now waaay too big. @angelabraniff have you noticed this in your own home, even with ten people?
The quarantine just made me SIT AND LOOK AT THE CLUTTER IN MY HOUSE AND THAT'S ALL I'VE DONE.... WE NEED TO DECORATE THROUGHOUT SO NOW I'M BEING PUSHED INTO DOING A HUGE DECLUTTER... I COME FROM A LONG LINE OF'' KEEP IT IT MAY COME IN USEFULL SOME DAY' '' SO IM STRUGGLING WITH LETING GO OF REALLY NICE THINGS..... WE DONT KEEP RUBBISH THAT'S THE PROBLEM NOW IN MY LATE SIXTIES.. I HAVE TO START... MY SISTER AND I HAD TO CLEAR OUT MY PARENTS HOUSE WHICH TOOKA LOT OF TIME AND ENERGY... I DONT WANT THAT FOR MY DAUGHTER WHO, QUITE FRANKLY WOULD NOT WANT ANY OF IT... SO HERE GOSE WISH ME LUCK IM GOING IN.... 🤣🤣🤣
👋👋 new subscriber here. I love your content it’s so fun and funny! I grew up in a family of 13 (11 kids) I have a 13 month old and I’m 8 months pregnant with my second, I’m definitely thinking about homeschooling the kids too
I have been following you and was so excited to take a March Break to deal with some of the clutter. Now with this virus runnig rampant, I am worried to get rid of things in case we need them down the road due to resources being low.
You are so beautiful! And you look like my mom! I live in another country and I am far from her. Looking at you make me feel so good like looking at my mom! + You always upload great contents! Thank you for that
karolyn kitchens start with “onion method” if that would work better for you. Take a garbage bad and donation box and just take 15 minutes and go through your whole house. Do this a few times and it’s amazing how you feel once you get started. After peeling a few layers of “onion” you’ll feel motivated to tackle a closet, etc. ~Rach
I feel like getting rid of things when we’re about to be out of money is not a great idea 😩 I’m a waitress and I’m so so blessed that my boyfriends job is still open.
I get what you're saying but if she has extra that she can donate to people who might be in a situation where they need it (or to places who will make sure it gets to people who need it), then it's great that's she's letting things go. If you, personally, don't feel comfortable letting go of things right now then absolutely, hang on to what you need, even if that's everything for now. Good luck to you and your boyfriend. I hope that things start getting back to normal soon and that you are able to get back to work.

Angela,
I love your style. I especially love your jewelry and accessories. Would you consider doing a video on “favorite jewelry pieces of all time” ?
Thank you for being honest and vulnerable with us.I can relate to the anxiety of feeling like a room is closing in on you. Minimizing our home has had enormous benefits as well. Great video. Also you have beautiful eyes. 😊
I can imagine how much lighter you must feel now :) Decluttering feels so good!

Loved this series 💛 loved your honesty the whole way through it. Clutter really is delayed decisions!
👏🎆💖 yay! Good for you! I have been on a decluttering journey for sometime now. Awesome job decluttering! I am working on decluttering my home. I am also enjoying the sun while it is around in Europe.
Old sheets are great to use to protect your tables from craft activities

Well done for being honest with yourself, that is the hard part
It’s so true you feel so much better after! Thanks for inspiring all of us!!
I've been watching your series and I'm 100% motivated to get organised while I'm at the house so much more! Thanks x
Just love watching your vlogs. You inspire me to start the declutter process. Thank you!!
I’m not reorganizing right now, but I’m here to listen to you because you’re not talking about current world situations ❤️
Angie. I do the same thing with clothes.... it’s really wasting money
And cheap clothes don’t wash well
Etc. I’m with you girl... totally understand.
I looooove your videos, so calming and inspiring! Would you consider doing an updated makeup routine?
Excited to see your research o ethical shopping!!
Thanks for sharing. You have inspired me to declutter my house and change my habits.
I saw the labels you were looking for in your hand in your extreme kitchen declutter.
I wish my husband would say do my closet. He is a hoarder and I'm the opposite. He will even go through the garbage if he knows I threw something of his away. It's awful
I feel your pain 😭
Amazing inspiration!!!! I just had so many ah-ha moments while listening. Thank you once again for sharing your incredible insights.
Omg am I first? Wow shocking! Lol! By the way love your videos and can’t get enough of them! Waiting for your podcast next! ♥️
I love the declutter series!!!
It sounds like you experienced the angel and devil on your shoulders within your own-self prior too the decluttering series of decluttering your mind & house. I’ve enjoyed the series. ❤️☀️🌸🦋
Thank you for being so honest. This video spoke to me. I have been wanting to do this and now with more time at home I will be able to
Going through a sad breakup and you spoke to me hah. I've been buying things to make me "happy".
I really want to start decluttering! Great video!
Wow! We are internal twins! Lol
What an epiphany! Thanks Doll! 💜💚
You’ve done amazing Angela!
Love your channel Angie! ❤️
I want to hear more about the Cat and Jack "warranty"
What great insight. I have I craft room I can't use due to clutter. I have a goal to de-clutter it but no plan as yet to start.
M.K. Carol Start with 10min tomorrow. Put on music. Then 10min the day after. You don’t have to do it all at ones. You can do it 🙂
Wow any pics of all the trash bags you filled to get rid.

WHERE do you get the energy for all this????????? Plus the kids, plus homeschool? 🥰
Better to get a handle when kids are younger, it will help the trajectory of the way they are raised. Pretty amazing.
You can donate clothes (with holes and stains) to H&M recycling program.
Organizing like a crazy person.....after watching your videos....thanks for the push.
Great video 🥰 Now that we’re all at home 🏡 we are getting it done...
Wow, well done. I have also been decluttering. Makes life so much easier
I am the first one to comment....yes! Lol
Angela will you do a digital declutter too? With your job I’m sure your digital life can be chaotic
Great job Angie!
I felt this video...
As I’ve decluttered I’ve really seen my house and it’s space differently. What was just enough is now waaay too big. @angelabraniff have you noticed this in your own home, even with ten people?
Good for you and you will save so much money! Have a wonderful day! Christine

Thank you for that
Loved this!
A good time to do all this with social isolation.
I really want to do this to my house!!! But I just get overwhelmed and don’t know where to start!
just pick one room at a time
I did one room/area at a time ...so much easier
I would love to help you- but I am not in your area...
karolyn kitchens start with “onion method” if that would work better for you. Take a garbage bad and donation box and just take 15 minutes and go through your whole house. Do this a few times and it’s amazing how you feel once you get started. After peeling a few layers of “onion” you’ll feel motivated to tackle a closet, etc. ~Rach
Kirsten Richter i wish you were near me! Getting rid of clothing is so hard!
Can you do a video about how your family is handling the coronavirus?
I love your hair color, is that dark golden blonde?
Have you got a link to the TEDtalk?
What song do you keep playing in your videos lately?? 👏
We Are Messengers??
Can you please give the name and artist?
Thank you!!!
Love your videos! 😘
I just found your channel today. I have six children, two have Down syndrome. We also homeschool.
