I mean seriously guy, I'm at Guns of Brixton by the Clash and you've managed to tick off virtually ALL of my favorite ska and/or punk bands, and for just above every single one you pinpointed my favorite track! You're killin' me! TOO F@%KING AWESOME!!!
Thank you once again sugarpillcovers for making an amazing video. Ska punk always had the best bass lines in any genre . Thanks for bringing me back to the good old days!
Damn, this video is so uncanny! Man, it's like you crawled inside my head and revealed all my favorite ska and punk bass lines. Freaking awesome video man!!!!🔥🔥🔥🔥
🎵"I'm a match, she's kerosene You know she's gonna burn down everything She's an arsonist in her pass time And I've been burned for the last time Time, time, time, woah I've been burned for the last time Time, time, time, woah I've been burned for the last time"🎵 🤘🏻🎸👍🏻
Making lists like this is hard, especially in a genre known for its baselines. That said, Eighteen by Slapstick or Smash The Magnavox by the Blue Meanies (or several others by both bands) need to be included.
so happy to see madness made the list! 2 tone doesn’t get enough love, though it’s admittedly not /exactly/ the same genre as ska punk 😅 how do you feel about the english beat?
Alright, I’ve gotta see what you’d come up with if “she’s kerosene” was written by Blink 182. Or, you could just say “screw it,” and start a fourth wave ska band
Cool man!!!, Once I heard some of this music but I was so concentrated in metal music in general or rather metallica, pantera, disturbed. However I played some of Offspring, Blink 182, green day. I never thought that, the ska bass is pretty independent. I wanted be a funk/disco bass player but nobody knew about that music in my environment. I enjoyed too much with Steve's Harris music in exchange. I just put some ska bass and appeared you. I saw your video just for know something else, I'm not interested in ska music, very.... is not so serius nevertheless you like bass players won a place in music dude! bass is excellent and I state you give the sense to this style as it happens in disco/funk music go further!! blessings!!
@8:22: If you made the whole video with your chicken fingers this would've been amazing. I find so many in the genre lean on the cheat of a pick. No disprepect but it's a crutch if you compare it to what inspired the generational scene in the first place. Reggaetón. 1st wave ska. Funk. mostly all played with finger. For better control. Remake this entire video with your satan given digist, I'll sub and thumbs up every damn video you make :D
For me personally, I just dislike the sound of fingers over a pick. You lose that attack that's key for a lot of punk music. It definitely works in certain cases, but it just comes down to a personal tone preference for me.
@SugarpillProd I'm a running man finger slappa da bass kinda guy but punk is usually played with a pick and 3rd wave is more punk than two tone. Did you mean reggae? Because ska originated before as a genre. Op ivy and Rancid songs Matt uses a pick on songs like bad town and old friend. Streetlight Manifestos bass line ups, as far as I've seen since 04 was played fingers and they're no joke of tracks. I think if you're going for covers, sure, maybe. But it's really up to you. Flea has mastered finger and some songs can't be played with a pick even, while Death from Above 1979 requires a pick due to the noise he makes like running it up a string for that scratch distortion. You can make the same argument with most instruments. Flamenco doesn't work with a pick and some classical while you'll find it hard to upstroke power chords to get that fast sound. Good vid

In my opinion, Ska is one of the most underappricated genres of music.
100%.
Ska punk is the ultimate form of punk, change my mind
Well, they actually make a change instead of the usual nofx/pennywise sound, and it pisses off a lot of older punks most likely so yeah
Shut up
@@justgeekian1703 NOFX have made some ska punk
How can I change your mind, you’ve clearly lost it
@@justgeekian1703 but we can agree that pennywise is awesome, right?

Also the LTJ bass lines always kickass
So glad you put Gwen. Cos as proper skapunk nerd. That’s actually in one of the best songs I’ve heard
I've seen people do covers of these on other channels. But sometimes they get them wrong. Every single song was note for note spot on. Well done.
I need a list of every song played on this video
Thank you for showing some to Stteetlight Manifesto. That album is a masterpiece.
Damn, this video is so uncanny! Man, it's like you crawled inside my head and revealed all my favorite ska and punk bass lines. Freaking awesome video man!!!!🔥🔥🔥🔥
Great selection of songs
Literally all of my favorite songs

Always love your ska videos, this was a blast! I’ll take part 2 whenever you’re ready...
I would've picked someday I suppose for the Bosstones song. All in all good list
Cool, some of these I have not heard. Appreciate it.
I was wondering if Sublime was gonna be on here. Great work man!
You can throw a dart at any song on Destruction by Definition and get an iconic bass line, lol! Royce Nunley is a beast!
I love your bass tone
World needs ska punk
you play one step beyond differently... also The Jam Start is a good one

I gotta learn some of these on bass.

What about the selecter?
love me madness and specials but dont know any other 2 tone bands😕
I was going to riot if there wasn't a Suicide Machines song on here. Such a great band!
Amen, that's what I precisely came here for ha
i need a full instrumental of the guns of brixton with this quality =)
Do all Operation Ivy sometime.
makes me happy!
Matt Freeman, enough said 😎
Your mad good at what you do kid
The Elliot Smith tshirt made it man
Haven't seen anyone do a bass cover for We Are The Few by Streetlight Manifesto. That song has a crazy bass line!
If you like 3rd wave & skacore then checkout the baselines by the Suicide Machines, Capdown, and the Flatliners first album.
Pretty sure I had a Suicide Machines bass line in this video, haha.
Alright, I’ve gotta see what you’d come up with if “she’s kerosene” was written by Blink 182. Or, you could just say “screw it,” and start a fourth wave ska band
The Interrupters - She´s kerosene 5:04-5:38
May I know what is the bass tone setup? High mid's?
I don't know who you are, but that was fuckn' awesome!
Me encantan estas líneas por fin me parece más a mi estilo realmente iconicas me encantan las bandas marco mi generación
Clicked on video wondering if a suicide machines songs made it, and it happened to be one of my all time favorites.
People need to start giving morning glory credit for writing gang control
2 tone ska is da best ska
где distemper?
awesome. but please, put the bands in the description or in the comments =') . what band plays walking away? I couldn't identify from the photo
i like the new bass!
Well... it finally happened.
Sugarpillcovers covered Smash Mouth
SugarpillCovers Yeah, memes aside, Smash Mouth has a genuinely solid catalogue.
I LOVE your Elliot Smith shirt 😳😭😍
isnt a better place a better time the same riff as the into of i feel so by box car racer
Sounds kind of similar
Bro where are you from and where's your band? Cuz I want to join
Friend. What do you make the keyboard and saxophone tracks with?
The horns would have most likely been Session Horns Pro, and I think the organ was Vintage Organs (both are kontakt player instruments).
Great
Horace will be happy 🤔😎😍
What is the name of band At 2:46?
Catch-22. Singer and songwriter from Streetlight Manifesto’s original band. The record is Keasbey Nights and it’s great.
Eat the Meek wqs always a song I had to play twice
2 Josh Ansley riffs, and 2 Matt Freeman riffs? Seems a little stacked, ahaha. Anyways jokes aside, awesome job!

SugarpillCovers oh shit, I watched it I just didn’t make it to the end lol. My apologies hahaha
No choking victim either
Cool soong mmaan!!!! :)
18 songs? kk
There's no such thing as a Ska/Punk bass line... It's either a reggae bass line, or a FAST reggae bass line.
Um no, it's ska punk. There's literally been 4 waves of ska punk by now.
@@SugarpillProd I was being sarcastic. Not being serious.
Haha sorry, it's hard to tell when I get comments like someone trying to tell me Nirvana are an emo band and so on.
@@SugarpillProd I know sarcasm via text is often misunderstood.
Beaut
in any other genre, bassists are failed guitarists
in ska, guitarists are failed bassists
😍❤️👏👏
I think Gwen is the biggest sell out ever!!!
That song was so good
No sublime huh 😒
I guess you just skipped 7:08?
