    Why was the Disk System never released outside of Japan? I understand Nintendo keeping games accessible to help recover the world from the Video Game Crash of 1983, but we've missed out on so much, including the enhanced sound quality and this awesome startup screen! 🤩
    I mean, the international NES had an unused EXT. port hidden underneath. Why not use it?

    • @royalgarden18
      @royalgarden18 2 роки тому +20

      They actually were but by the time they were going to there was no point. Many of their best Disk games had already been released on cartridge in the west and cartridges were starting to become less expensive to produce and could hold more memory.

    • @murky16
      @murky16 2 роки тому +2

      Plus Nintendo hated having their games pirated and it was much easier/cheaper to do so for games on disc versus a cartridge, therefore they would rather use out of date cartridge technology to help deter pirates

    • @FarmYardGaming

      ^Piracy was absolutely rampant in Asia at the time, in other regions it wasn't as bad yet

      @LeaveTheMark_YT 9 місяців тому +2

      1. The video game industry crash was ONLY in the United States.
      2. Advances in technology slowly made the Disk System obsolete, therefore making it uneconomic to make a version for the NES. Not to mention, it would have increased the size of the console and created something even more unattractive on a shelf, unlike the Famicom.

    • @dekufiremage7808
      @dekufiremage7808 Місяць тому

      Even if they did try to release it outside of Japan, it likely wouldn't have hit shelves until '88, when the Mega Drive/Genesis would make it look laughably obsolete.
