An amazing piece. I watched Saving Private Ryan when I was a teenager and it hit me hard. The brotherhood and sacrifice made a big impact on me, and the soundtrack really echoed that hollow feeling. I listened to the soundtrack endlessly. Now I teach the film to my students, and it's not just me who feels that way. Thank you for covering this song.
NUSensei Never thought I'd see an archer on this channel
Next you might see a pianist on an archery channel!
Kyle Restau, I do archery, my main inspiration was the theme from arrow piano cover on the Samuel fu channel
That pikachu looks done with life... Please end its suffering.
end me too please
Best comment!!! LMBO @Joel Rowe
That brass choir part in the middle. Just... yes. All kinds of yes.
This is crazy timing, I just watched Saving Private Ryan again on Netflix last night. Great movie and amazing playing as always! Definitely not John Williams usual type of soundtrack but very thoughtful and humble.
I am Japanese and I became your fan!!!!!
he always has these great intros...and memorable melodies or rhythms. awesome composer.
btw kyle loved your arrangement of it. it was an awesome listen
To me, this is the best piano version of this song I have ever heard! The views deserve to be in the millions!

Beautiful work Landry. I enjoy your arrangements, I think it is great the way you keep the true essence of a song and yet still make it your own. The slight drag in carefully placed in notes, the pressure you apply to each key, everything about is wonderful. Great work man, normally I'd say "Keep it up" but I don't think I need to haha.
I think a song you could really recreate beautifully is the M*A*S*H intro song," Suicide in Painless."
I imagine you could do great things with that song and I would really appreciate it. :)
Wow. I just found this piece the other day and here you are playing it on the piano! This is awesome.
Could you by any chance play Honor by Hans Zimmer from The Pacific? That would be awesome.
I need the sheets in my life.
where is sheet music?
That was a great movie
You have to do his Superman theme too! It's magnificent!
I thought it said hymn for the weekend ha. nevertheless I was happily surprised :)
Songs like this are tough to cover when you are limited with 10 keys to cover the complexity of John Williams' layers. I think you did well because you didn't change it too much. I'd love to hear different versions of the Dragonheart Theme as well as Titans Spirit by Trevor Rabin. Both tough songs to cover fairly. Have you ever tried recording over and mixing so you could hit more harmonies?
amanzing
Love this! Are there any sheets available?
You should do Winter Wind.
what software do you use to record the sound
PLEASE PLEASE tell me where you got the piano sheet!!
Does anyone know if there are piano sheets out there for the song Omaha Beach from Saving Private Ryan? Been looking for months still cant find it....
That poor Pikachu needs to get some exercise lol
where can i get sheet music for it
What Piano do you use ?
Do John Williams Olympic Fanfare and Theme. Original recording 1984. on piano please
What can i say .... I whant to play like you :-)
5:50
I have a little challenge for you! Dare to play a cover of at the speed of light by dimrain47. I would absolutely love to hear this song played by you
Can you play "Mass Effect - An end once and for all"
Also how do you learn songs so fast? Just a developed skill?
When you have been playing for years it really doesn't take that long to learn a song. However master a song to perfection is still quite challenging.
he did play that lol
I have that same Pikachu!!!!!
play this at 1.25 and it's perfect :-)
Great played. Nice arrangement, but maybe a little to much rubato for me. It goes to slow most of the time. Especially in parts when the piece should rather get a flow forward a with a faster pace in tempo. Here its around 50 Bpm and the original is in around 60 Bpm. This piece is in original around 6-7 minutes but here around 9-10 minutes. It is in sense a very slow solemn march wich means it has to be more stiff in tempo. In sense those soldiers that do this silent drill should be able to march to this piece. But despite of my critism it is a great arrangement and you play it well.
Saving Private Ryan, Band of Brothers and hopefully soon Hacksaw Ridge will be added to the great list of WW2 movies.
The Pacfic is also really good
the pacific is dog shit compared to band of brothers.
i'd also add the thin red line to that list :) malick is a beautiful filmmaker
wow @)
PLAY JURASSIC PARK THEME
Leaving the first dislike. It doesn't have anything to do with not liking the song, the song is brilliant and highly emotional. It doesn't have anything to do with not liking the pianist; Kyle is very skilled. It's not being a fan of the interpretation.
Just saying you don't like it isn't really helpful for me. Some insight would be good :p
It has a lot to do with phrasing. How much you stretch out an idea before resolving it, where you choose to speed up and slow down....the ebb and flow of it just disturbs me. It strays a lot from the original treadmark of the film.
Oh yes I must give a dislike because he has no skill... Can you even play piano??
ive seen comments like this on kyle's videos all the time and i'm gonna have to disagree with them. I think that what we love about kyle is how he takes risks and "spices up" previous transcriptions and makes it his own. If this sometimes means they get to fancy or over-powerful I'll still take it. There are plenty of other videos on youtube that just copy boring transcriptions. We love kyle's strength of making boring transcriptions his own and different from the original. Good example would be his disney ones obviously... He took those transcriptions and made them sexy as hell lol. You keep doing you kyle :) PS: keep your style please.
Well I'm going to assume that you all know Kyle and if you wanted an exact replica of the original Kyle is not the one to go to because he take liberties and make a piece his own. You opinion is your opinion but like this is a heads so next time just don't bother, and I for one really thought this was a nice interpretation. Really brought a refreshing feel to the song that not only brings up some of the same feelings from the original but some new feelings that I don't get from the original at the same time. Lovely work Kyle
hi;)
NICE HAMMER PANTS
oh folks, stop intellectuallizing and analyzing and just listen with eyes closed, if not for you, then move on.
*all we ever have is NOW*
I really love your positive comments on the videos. Thank you, please keep that up :)
thank you so much, and i will! I've come to the understanding that we all leave something to this world, so why not choose to be something positive instead of negative.
I agree with you. This reminds me of a John Green quote about leaving marks on this world (I can't remember that exactly though). Thank you for being an inspiration!
"The marks humans leave are too often scars."
Yeah this
Who the *uck are these dislikers ???They should be punished with heavy metal music during 2 jours without possibility to cover their ears...
the yellow Pokemon is dead!
I feel its too slow with too much rubato....... there are some nice touches throughout but don't forget its a sort of march with military overtones. Around 2:40 you get the speed right but then lapse back into affected rhythm at 3:27 At 3:59 ok again. I get what you are trying for ie getting every last drop of emotion out of the piece but sometimes less is more. Just shorten it. Take all the dragged out of time bits out and it will impact more. All the best.
Pikachu!!, are you OK???
Benjamin Cormack “PIKA, PIKA, PIIIIIIIIIII”
The reason your channel fell apart is because you kept doing those improvisation videos and original works. The covers were what made your successful.
Don't get me wrong, they're beautiful works; they're just not as click-baity or as relatable. I'd love to see your channel climb back up there again.
His channel fell apart?
Ryan692
Look at the views he used to get, bro. Now look at them. I want to see him pulling in hundreds of thousands of views again; he deserves it.
Will V I know but to say his channel "fell apart" is a little extreme. Obviously his improvs and original compositions are going to have much less views because they aren't as mainstream popular. That has always been the case on his channel. That being said, I agree that he's due for a lot more covers but I'm pretty sure he said that he is going to start doing covers again so you shouldn't have to wait long.
Could you be any more dramatic?
