Congrats on being recognized for all of your work to be invited as the Key Note Speaker! Also a great opportunity to network amongst peers. Keep on doing what your doing, you are a pretty interesting guy.
Congratulations, well deserved!
Heck yeah!!
Congratulations!
Excited for you! Congratulations
I'm glad for but even more so that things might be headed in a different direction because of popular demand. You will nail it man!
Congratulations, I need to join so I can listen to you.
That's fantastic dude. I hope to make it to NAFEX online.
That King David x Rubiyat looks niiiiice! Congrats on getting selected as the keynote speaker and thank you for all your contributions to the grassroots/small scale fruit exploring and fruit breeding culture!
Thanks and congrats, it would be great to see some footage if possible from the conference.
Can't do. It is for NAFEX members only for a year, then it will be on youtube. Good organization to support though.
Awesome!!!!!❤️
Love to see it!
Congrats!
Cool stuff. Thanks for what you do. I planted a bunch of apples after seeing what you are doing in your breeding project. But none of them have produced yet. I was at a small town grocery store the other day and was surprised to see that they were selling a red fleshed apple called Lucy GLO. I wonder if you have ever heard of it. It was the only red fleshed apple I've ever tried but it definitely had a raspberry thing going on
I"ve heard almost all good reports on lucy glo, but have not tried it yet.
@@SkillCult definitely had some good raspberry stuff going on. I saved some seeds from it. They also had Lucy rose, which I’m guessing has similar parentage or something, but it wasn’t nearly as good. There’s a chance that they were just too under ripe. They were both being marketed for their red flesh and sold for like 50cents more per pound.
Awesome, keep up the good work!
That’s awesome man, I’m sure you’ll bring a lot of knowledge to the presentation 🤘🏼
😎
I missed you live but I just watched the recording, A lot of great information. I have a question though do you start your rootstock seeds like the M9 and Bud9 at the same time as your seedlings? How do you time them for grafting?
bud 9 and M9 are clonal rootstocks, so they are all genetically identical and rooted from cutting. it is possible to grow your own by a process called stooling, but most people buy them. You can buy them and graft the same year and plant out in the trial rows, or grow in a nurrsery bed for a year first.
@@SkillCult How long do you let a seedling grow on it's own roots before grafting onto a rootstock? Could I potentially propagate the suckers from the rootstocks of my other apple trees? I was eating a sweet tango apple while watching you on NAFEX and thought why not try to plant these and see what happens. So I can put these in the frig or put them out now in trays for vernalization? How long of a chill period do the seeds need?
Thanks for your help!
Wow, any chance your presentation is online?
It will be on UA-cam on the nafex channel after 1 year they said.
@@SkillCult Great, I'm looking forward to seeing it soon!
