  • Dawn till dusk at the Tamar Island Wetlands on a particularly cold winter's day.
The Tamar Island Wetlands walk is located on the West Tamar Highway about 20 minutes from Launceston's CBD. The walk out to the island is flat, wheelchair-friendly and will take around 30 minutes each way. There are toilets and a BBQ on the island, making it a great place for families and is also popular with joggers, walkers and wildlife photographers.
It's a natural haven for many bird species, as well as frogs, fish, snakes and marsupials. Snakes are sometimes seen in the warmer months, most commonly copperheads. Generally they stay on the grass below the board walk and are unlikely to react to the presence of people if left alone.

I clicked expecting a new Richard Hawley single....wow, he's gone jazz I thought! Good for him. Loved this creative effort - sub'd. Just home to NZ today from 3 weeks in cold dreary Melbourne! cheers

Lol yeah not the first time I've been mistaken for the "other" Richard Hawley. Thanks for watching.
