A very respectful consultation by Dan, very conscious of the client’s feelings. I really feel for the client as there is clearly denial about the extent of the loss and what can realistically be achieved by a haircut. The space between Dan’s words shows it isn’t the cut he ideally would have done, and he slightly disowns the combover he has produced. The client will probably realise in time that he is kidding himself and probably go for something shorter and more maintainable. Ultimately the client’s wishes have been respected though
You did a fantastic job and treated this gent so kindly. Of course he wanted a lot of hair at the front, who wouldn’t and we should all understand how hair and especially the loss of it is so emotive. Let’s hope he puts the work in every morning and looks this great every day. Well done for making him so happy and giving him confidence 👏
Dan, you are a kind and decent man and a superb hairstylist. People, stop judging this young man! We are all doing the best we can with what we've got. As a barber myself these types of consultations are the hardest especially when the problem has been neglected. Much respects to this Professional. He truly cares about what his client’s best outcomes are and he will never do anything that is not going to benefit them. Reminds me of the lovely lady I used to have. Greetings from NYC.
Given some of the limitations, imo this style and haircut looks great. He definitely walked out feeling happy with the overall outcome. Great job Dan as always.
So polite haha, Well done, so diplomatic. I have been on the Manual programme for three months and I have noticed that my hair is changing and growing back, even in the crown bald spot. I imagine after a year it will have regrown completely.Great series,
Dan is the consummate professional. He did what is client asked for in a non-judgmental manner after he turned down all of the suggestions that Dan offered. If anyone can make a combover look as good as possible, it would be Dan! I hope that after this intermediate step of shorter hair, the client will be able to come to terms with his hair loss and agree to a hairstyle that would be much more becoming.
i think the long hair hid it also it brought attention to his long hair then his hairline and the beard also helped bring away attention from it aswell
I had a friend who never ever went out, or had people over, without having either a wig on, or a hat. He had begun balding in his early 20's. When he had been a child, his dad had ruffled his hair, which he hated. He was also in theatre, so he was used to the idea of disguise.
You’re such a great person and barber; not just genius at what you do, but very compassionate, and that’s what makes everyone better at what they do. This guy should accept reality, and he would appreciate your work better. ❤😊
Dan is so kind, patient and respectful of what his clients want! I’m not in love with this style, but Dan did the best he could. It seems like the guy is going to be constantly aware of wind that could expose his bald spot.
Woa, what a challenge for Dan! So well done - I'm sure he was kind of cringing inside, because a "comb over" is exactly what he's been saying time and again that it's NOT the way to "coverup" hair loss - and he's proved it before. But ... the customer gets what he wants and he needs to feel comfortable with a new hair style. And he seemed quite happy and looked astonishingly good with the end result. I'd venture that he will either get tired of having to style and spray his front hair into place every day and either go back to wearing a cap or just buzz it all off. Personally, I don't like that "wild man" beard at all and I think he's a good enough looking man that he doesn't have to hide behind all that stuff. But that's between him and his lady to figure out 😉 Anyways - great job, Dan!
I love this series .. Dan is a true master with the way he can bring out the best with what hair these guys have to work with. I did feel for both Dan and the client in this one though. You could tell Dan didnt really feel this look was for the best and the poor Client was in denial as to how far his hair loss had gone. A buzzcut and fade would have really suited him i think. Hopefully we will see him on baldcafe in a few years embracing the hairloss. A really interesting episode of this series though for sure
I just finished watching this after taking a break and I'm actually very impressed. The way he was silent through-out I figured he was anxious, he didn't know what to think but when it was done and he got his girlfriends approval, his whole posture changed and he couldn't stop smiling. I think realistically, this is someone with anxiety who let their hair grow and it unfortunately started receding and it go to the stage he beat his anxiety to finally get it cut and you kept your ground and gave him something that suits his style. Not exactly punk, but close with the pop-punk look/skater type look. Honestly he's grateful and I'm happy to see it, his silence throughout worried me, thought he might be upset after it, but surprised how good it looks for a combover. Does make me think, he was the perfect candidate for just shaving the top and getting one of them stick on wigs that last 4 weeks, not everyones cup of tea, but would definitely be less effort getting it buzzed, stuck on than it will getting this haircut as it gets more and more difficult combined with him pushing it and covering it all the time.
I feel this guy would be better off embracing that he is going bald, he will deffo struggle to cover up his scalp when he styles that himself, plus he has a beard so he would still have somewhat of a hairy look
I mean, from what I could tell, he's got a good head shape, really good head shape for being bald/very short hair, not everyone does. I'd be fucked if I have to shave my head bc mine's really round, but shaped funny at the temples, I absolutely would not suit a shaved head, but I think he'd look great with a shaved head, solid head shape for it
Looks great, only problem is the elements. A gust of wind will split that fringe and ruin your whole day leaving you concerned that people think you're trying to hide your hairline. Owning the recession or shorter hairstyles is unfortunately the best choice for improved confidence. No amount of hairspray or fibres will conceal it. All the best
Hmmm 🤔. Having such a Long beard just emphasizes the receding hairline. A better option would be to cut the top and sides shorter to blend in with the textured back. And, cut off the overlong Viking beard, or at least cut it much shorted and neater. Makes for better symmetry... less opposing sight lines. IMO. As usual, Dan did a fantastic job with what he had to work with. 👍
A man’s relationship with his hair is a deeply complex dynamic for most.. It’s easy for those of us who now shave our head to say, ‘embrace the bald!’ & relax, but everyone has to ‘think it through’ in their own way..
As a fellow stylist I was really feeling for you through that cut. I thought for moment you had talked him out of it. Then he said he was up for dealing with it everyday. Kudos to you for pulling it off. You achieved a look he was happy with but I have a feeling it won’t last. If he would’ve just let you take it down to a great short cut he would’ve still looked young. So many good styles you could’ve created for him. Anyway…good effort Dan.
He's taken the first step toward realising that it's not coming back. Before long he'll take the plunge and go short. He has an epic beard which will look awesome with cropped hair. This episode really shows what a big deal hair loss is to a guy.
Unbelievable, what you did, Dan! It really looks nice! Bless his heart, did he say he was only 28? Now if he'd just let you clean up that beard! Really enjoyed that, thanks! Cat

@@tml184 Strictly speaking, yes.
I love how firm Dan is. He holds his ground so well, and I admire that. He is not afraid to tell someone that something won't work. Respect
Dan's etiquette in dealing with various people is flawless. Each episode is a masterclass in diplomacy, delivered with cheerful ease.
He needs a barrette to keep that hair in place……..😉. Dan you are a saint!
Mans going to need some industrial strength hair spray to keep that in place.
So polite haha, Well done, so diplomatic. I have been on the Manual programme for three months and I have noticed that my hair is changing and growing back, even in the crown bald spot. I imagine after a year it will have regrown completely.Great series,
That’s amazing! Glad you hear that it’s working for you!
Dan said, “The haircut looks completely different”. Good choice of words!
Chop the beard if you’re really going for 20 again
Ya it's gotta come way down lol. If he has that at 20 he would have been growing it since 12 😂
I'm a new viewer and I'm binge watching in no particular episode order. Thus far this is my favourite episode. You truly are a gentleman...both.
Omg ! A comb-over 🇦🇺 I had to same look ..shaved it all off ! now I can swim ..walk in the wind with out a hat on.. embrace the razor ..🪒
Wow, just amazing and great job at being very diplomatic and kind about it.
I can feel Dans doubts and worry as this man wants this kind of cut no matter what the professional's opinion is
By this guys logic every woman with a ponytail would have a receding hairline....
The left side is going to fall down constantly revealing the comb over. Think about embracing a short hair cut all over.
i think the long hair hid it also it brought attention to his long hair then his hairline and the beard also helped bring away attention from it aswell
Wow, i really thought this would be an impossible task, but Dan really has proven once again hes the best out there ✂️ amazing job 👏👏
But that's between him and his lady to figure out 😉
Anyways - great job, Dan!
He is so incredibly patient and kind…
He could really rock the bald‘n‘beard look like Ragnar Lothbrok. Or a 1mm buzzcut
Really liking the vibe of this video, pausing every once in a while really contributes to the calmness
Good Lord! But if he's happy with the outcome, then so be it.
You did a fantastic job!! He looked great!
I'd be fucked if I have to shave my head bc mine's really round, but shaped funny at the temples, I absolutely would not suit a shaved head, but I think he'd look great with a shaved head, solid head shape for it
He can grow his beard really long and comb it over his head 😄
He needs to have a transplant, that’s the only way he’s going to get the look he wants.
Looks great!! He is leaving with a "beaming" face of approval...you more then made this young mans day! Wonderful
Stunning!! That was super human! Well done.❤
I’m amazed that you pulled this off. I never imagined anyone could do this.
From Cannibal Corpse to My Chemical Romance in 30 minutes.
A man’s relationship with his hair is a deeply complex dynamic for most.. It’s easy for those of us who now shave our head to say, ‘embrace the bald!’ & relax, but everyone has to ‘think it through’ in their own way..
i don’t think that’s the way to go having that of a hair loss but still it looks decent
As a fellow stylist I was really feeling for you through that cut. I thought for moment you had talked him out of it. Then he said he was up for dealing with it everyday. Kudos to you for pulling it off. You achieved a look he was happy with but I have a feeling it won’t
last.
The best advice I can give this guy…You be You!
Great cut. Does what the dude wanted to hide his hairline.
Good luck to him
Regal Gentleman....title really suits you my man!!
Nice work!
Unbelievable, what you did, Dan! It really looks nice! Bless his heart, did he say he was only 28? Now if he'd just let you clean up that beard! Really enjoyed that, thanks! Cat
I loved this hair cut episode. The client was so happy and Dan tried so hard to do what he wanted. Thank you Dan. This was a great hair cut.
i love it ! It hides it and he looks so much younger ! Good job
Great consultation. Good job at working with him on coming up with a solution.
Dan you are a magician it looks like he has hair at the front now but I think he will struggle styling it himself and the weather won’t be his friend . Great job Dan 😉👍
Looks like a combover.
@@tml184 Strictly speaking, yes. But it's a million miles away from a Bobby Charlton (who would have absolutely rocked a shaved head, if only it was an option to anyone but Telly Savalas and Yul Brynner back in the '70s). Lead singer of Finnish rock band Apulanta is a great example of how fabulous going shaved can be.
You performed magic with this one! You should be proud.
Wow! I'm impressed! I didn't think Dan was going to be able to do anything with this guys hairline except give him buzz (which I think would have looked nice....but customer was dead set against cutting off the hair & wanted to cover that fading hairline). Well done. Looks great.
I wish for him the freedom of acceptance. He’s a beautiful man. You’re very kind, Dan.✨🙏🏻😙💕
Poor guy thinks he’s losing his hair because he’s had his hair tied back for years.. . He’s definitely losing his hair due to genetics (male baldness) he should get on medication ASAP and go for a hair transplant. He’s actually a great candidate.
yeah
He needs fin, min and a trip to turkey 😅
I would just buzz it save the trouble
@@AnonymousSuperTuber 💯
plenty of good beard hair that can be used, too
His face is so gentle and beautiful, I think this haircut looks so nice and fresh on him. If you ever wants to let go of the beard, he would be even more beautiful. Great job, Dan! It looks fantastic and your sensibilities in your craftsmanship are beyond words.
You're the best Dan!!--So great the way you converse thoroughly with your clients.. So important and no-one does this nowadays to the perfection you do it. Love watching your quality videos!!!
That is a cracking hair cut!! He looks years younger and the receding hairline is completely hidden, that is some skills to do that with just hair and it really looks like a 'normal' lads haircut, you can't see that it's been done that way to hide anything!! Fantastic job!!
Dude wanted to look 14 again. Never get bangs for a receding hairline those things will be so whispy. I learned after a long time of dealing with one that just rocking it looks better than intentionally hiding it. Somehow it always looks obvious n bad. Youll feel better once you stop caring to hide it. Scott weiland, sting n daniel day lewis for example all look great with their hairlines!
Shorter hair looks far better with a reseeding hairline. Helps to balance it out.
@@AndiGomez-yu2dx agreed but for me I look best keeping it around medium length. Having facial hair really helps the balance a bad hairline.

I thought you'd always be mine, mine
The best thing I can say is he's got a really pretty hair color. You did an amazing job!
Should’ve got a buzzcut, realistically he ain’t gna wax his hair everyday
shave it off and get a head tattoo👍
@@martinvegas1327 Get some of the horns implanted that people get too.
He'll go back to his cap on rainy and windy days
Dan this was brilliant you do so much for these guys well done 👍🤩
Nothing like being in denial
i think it's awesome cut! well done and the client is totally happy too 🎉 very skilled cutting ✂️ 👌
Love the barbers new hair do
Turned out better than I thought it would, and I like how you respected the client’s request. You thought it through before you started chopping. He looked good.
