We loved this open and honest chat between Alexi and Dan! ❤ This actually leads on well to something we were thinking of... We're thinking of starting a new series where you can nominate someone to be in the chair who you feel deserves it! What do you think? Maybe it's someone that has had a hard time recently, maybe they're struggling to afford a haircut at the moment or maybe they do a tough job that deserves some recognition! Dan you are like a hidden gem. Alexis probably left you salon feeling a million dollars, not only because of his hair cut, but because of the exchange you had. If I was a man , I would certainly track down your salon and find you for a haircut. You have amazing talent! I think your idea for a new series is so thoughtful! Great idea.

I got teared up hearing his "why" on not going to the barber as often. I was hit by a semi 9 years ago and have had four spinal surgeries, but, as bad as the physical injury I suddenly have social anxiety and I completely understood him. 😢 This was the therapy he needed along with the fantastic cut. You're amazing, your clients are so blessed with your kind spirit. ❤
Me too 4 surgeries in alongside the social anxiety but we gotta keep fighting through each day

It always helps to see others talk about things like that, especially when there is a positive result. I believe I can understand your feelings. Physical problems can wear away our confidence and of course our comfort. Mine is arthritis and jaw pain from a series of procedures that all started when I cracked a tooth biting down on a chocolate covered cherry. Hope you don't mind my comment. I hope your pain and anxiety has improved. Take Care.

@mj3845 If he feels comfortable with his look, then that is all that matters. Dealing with mental health stuff is hard and it's not so easy to keep yourself looking good for others when you're not feeling good inside.
His beard and mustache look better, but I would’ve liked to seen him shaved down a bit more. However, he looks amazing. Hopefully he’ll continue to have you cut his hair again. You are truly talented. ♥️

Dan, you are so good at speaking to all kinds of people. I think your warmth and sensitivity, and your thorough explanations, were of really lasting value to Alexi. A real positive experience and an example of healthy self care. It’s very telling that he studies all the curly hair tips and shares them with his sister to help her, without really applying them to himself. Men aren’t often helped toward self love. They’re encouraged to project ego, but real applied love and care for the self, inside and out, is so important, and quite rare. Sometimes a haircut is so much more.
Dan just being himself addresses Alexi's struggle before it's even a known factor. You never know what someone is dealing with and Dan's kindness and non-judgmental advice makes Alexi comfortable enough to accept Dan's advice. Kudos to Dan for his kindness and to Alexi for being open to putting himself in Dan's capable hands!

I find your videos both informative and relaxing. I am an eighty-three year old woman who cut my husband’s and children’s hair for many years since we lived in rather rural areas. I remember my grandmother telling me that she also cut her family’s hair for the same reason. Thanks.

As someone who struggles with depression and anxiety, I find that it is easy to fall into the belief that the world (folks who don't know you from Adam, especially) wants you to be a sad, miserable bloke. But the world wants you to feel good about yourself and to have a sense of buoyancy
The bushy beard is taking away from his look if you ask me. A trimmed beard would make a world of difference in my opinion.

For sure, keeping your beard trimmed shorter is a game changer, and I love the more natural (no sharp edges on his beard), although some lite graduated shaving at the throat would look good too.

The haircut looks awesome!! Great transformation. I wish he would have elected to have more of his beard trimmed. That beard is massive, and we can't see his face. I think food must fall in his beard and mustache while eating. But the beard trim you did was an improvement. He is a good-looking man, and I would love to see his face. It would be great to see him come back to you for a major beard/mustache trim. Even if he had it trimmed like yours, I think it would be a stunning look and change for him. Oh, and an eyebrow trim. I would love to watch if he comes back to you for that.
Just trimming the beard but not going overboard has made a huge difference. He has amazing eyes, so beautiful. Dan so good at making the men look so handsome. ❤

What a fantastic look you gave him. I've seen a handful of people not really smile after their cuts but he certainly did. Hopefully it helps with his confidence and he stays with it. Epic beard and would be even more epic if he had some sharp lines at the neck and cheeks.

Wow!! What a transformation! I can relate to what you said about people's view of a price point for your work. As a photographer, people often complain about the cost of Session fees, because they think all I do is press a button!

I agree with you! I’ve had the same haircutter for over ten years and I’ve loved my hair once! Last two haircuts I had, I did myself after watching a YT video, I made two cuts! I liked it as well as when I go pay a hairstylist/cutter.

So handsome by the end of this, he looks intentional in his grooming, just can't say enough good things about this session in Dan's chair! Like Alexi I struggle with "making" myself do something out of my comfort zone, especially when it involves socialization, I have agoraphobia and even 3 people in too close of quarters sends me into a sweating fury, and that sweating face sends me into a further agitation. I retired a year ago from working in education at the end of my working years and my students (they were behavioral disorder students) got used to me just telling them to not worry about me, I'll be fine in a bit, and I would be. As many of them over the years struggled with the feeling of wanting to not be focused on, they appreciated me teaching them that it's hard to judge someone that accepts their issues right up front. Since retiring I am sliding backwards and allowing it to creep into managing my life instead of me managing it... Alexi is lucky indeed to have a sister as supportive and loving as his is.
