I grew my hair for 3 years and had it well below my shoulders. The last thing you said about long hair is somethign I really noticed - you stand out every where you go and it's "different". When I had long hair it seemed boring to be like everyone else with a short fade. I also donated my hair last year and went back to short hair for a while though I really miss the long hair. Currently a few months in to growing it out for a 2nd time.

I was raised by a macho traditional father, long hair for men was a big no, so I got accustomed to the short hair life, but about 2 years ago, I felt called to let it grow. The first attempt, I gave up during an awkward stage. It's been a year and a half of letting mine grow from a comb over, and I love it, I didn't know I had wavy/curly hair, my only issue is that I am prone to scalp issues, so I need to wash it more, it can be uncomfortable to manage. It's been a very empowering journey though, and I plan to keep it long!

I love having long hair for a lot of the reasons you stated. But I do feel like it's a constant battle against my lifestyle. I'm typically in the gym 5 days a week strength training, and endurance cycling / mountain biking 3 days a week. Sprinkle in backpacking and camping around 30 nights per summer, and I sweat a LOT and end up needing to wash more frequently than I'd like. It feels like I get about one "good" day out of my hair between washes and just overall physical activity.

Your videos have been a huge inspiration in my hair journey. The key reason I never liked short hair is I found my styles didn’t hold. But I never really had the medium style hair you mentioned in the video. My hair is now past the goal I originally set. And honestly, due to the pros you mentioned in this video, I’m probably going to keep it long for a good while. Thanks for making these videos Trav, they pushed me forward many times.

You can tell how healthy your hair actually is by seeing the way it stands and sits after the haircut. Brought you back 10 years. I just did the same, regret followed by grief lol I am hoping that the next 5 years will go slow but fast, having kids you want to freeze time but I hate the in between times during hair growth, it will be my 3rd run.

I’ll leave it this way… Long Hair on men are sexy lion manes, it’ll make you look younger, rugged, confident in being unique, more attractive, & basically the main character of the show. However, with short hair it’s the complete opposite you look boring, like an average joe, that sidekick character that no one cares about. My biggest pro for long hair is that it is teaching me how to care for long hair.
I was the brush cut guy most of my young life, so I didn't even know what different hair brushes were for as I didn't brush my hair.
Learning that people went multiple days without washing their hair was also a shocker.
I still haven't figured out hair additives between washes, but I will get there.

The only thing that's stopping me from cutting mine short is if I regret it, it'll take years to get back to where I'm at now after 5+ years of growing from a No2 guard 🤔 See what happens when the weather warms up. Pro for going short again for me will be to get my natural hair back as it's been bleached a few times and black dyed every 3 months for 18 months.

Since graduating school in 2018, I’ve grown my hair out twice past my shoulder, and now I cut it well off in Jan this year and I’m currently growing it again, but I might cut it, I’ve kinda gotten to a routine of growing it having it long and then cutting all short, I’ve only ever needed a haircut 2 times a year. I take good care of my hair, and saved heaps of money. The first time it was an “awkward” stage but when I grow it no that “awkward” stage is not really a thing anymore as I just have the ability to style it and embrace it without looking at it as awkward

to be fair... you could get an undercut with long hair (otherwise known as the skrillex cut) which eliminates not having to go to the salon very often because even if you don't have a complete "disconnected undercut" you still have to make it look neat since after some time it starts to look bad when not shaved off. But other than that, i have long hair and i love it and i also believe that it is better since there aren't that many men out there with long hair, than there are with short hair. Love your vids btw.

I have naturally spiral curls it took me what felt like forever to get it to shoulder length and I have to say I will never willingly go back to short hair again. To have the freedom to just tie it up and run out the door is so amazing. To have curly short hair you have to take care of styling what felt like every hour. I could never just walk out the door without spending a minimum of 15 minutes on my hair or I would look like bozo the clown. I live in Palm Springs and the summer here is ridiculous and I will still never willingly cut my hair short again 😀
