Hats off to you sir. not just for this video but all of your TT videos. You do a really wonderful job of explaining things. I refer to them often when working on my 02 Audi Quattro TT 1.8 225hp roadster
I found it easier (in case you have a 4 quart container) is to find a smaller or shorter container that will fit under the car better with the hand pump in it. Refill with what you need if necessary. Another way (which I haven't tried) is pouring the exact mount into a bucket and have another empty bucket. Take the transmission lines off the radiator and put the feed line in the new fluid bucket and the exit line in the empty one. Run engine until the transmission pump sucks in all the new fluid. Of course clean the feed line off before submerging it in the new fluid bucket. Or fit a rubber line to the end of it.
MT90 RED LINE transaxle fluid also works well,,also, for those not wanting to get on their back..you can from took the engine disconnect the 3 Philips screws from the coolant resevior..plus the electrical connection,,then use a longer see through plastic house 3' length (from Lowe's/ home depo) connected to your pumper....still need a drain pan,,just in case any extra fluid leaks out.
Hey Ry and people who will read this. I think what I saw in the video was that the tt was a quattro drive? If it is, I believe you also need to bleed the front differential because it has connecting vanes with the gearbox. And the differential will not drain all by itself. Greets from the Netherlands
There isn't one - only autos and DSGs have filters. Manual boxes have a swarf magnet inside submerged in the oil to catch loose bits of metal, hence the name
@@Way2EasyDIY Attached to transmission approximately under turbo, over steering rack. Follow left front cv axle toward trany. CV axle is attached to flange coming out of Bevel Box. Bevel box shares oil with transmission. To drain oil from it there is a separate drain plug- black.
@@Way2EasyDIY Remember that after draining oil from bevel box it will be replaced with fresh oil from transmission (if you replaced it). I always lift the car, all four wheels, put it in 1 st gear for a few minutes to let the oil redistribute itself. Recheck oil level and add if necessary.
Same stuff in my 2000 beetle 1.8turbo. So simple and cheap to work on compared to some of my other vehicles

Yun Oh typically after a really long time but I get it changed any time I change the clutch or any time the transmission starts to feel a little rough
Usually 100k miles is when the dealer recommends change. Also, clutch change/ rough shifting like stated below.

Go to your local Audi dealership and ask for Audi TT mk1 manual transmission fluid.

Yes if its the 1.8 t then it should all be the same. Not sure on the fluid. its been too long. I would just reference your owners manual.
