Great reaction! Thanks for explaining the 'better than a BBQ" line. You can smell the favor from blocks! And you were not afraid to relate it to the environment of people of color. We can relate to the comparison to perfume, smelling good! Oh my oh my! Liked watching you enjoy the song.
Bruno Mars is mixed race, filipino and Puerto Rican, he grew up singing in his Fathers Doo-wop band and went on to sing Motown. I love hearing all of those influences in his music ! Great song and review!!
I just started looking at the reviews I'm hooked, it is so wild and entertaining. Having said that I've looked at enough to know your presentation was on point. You didn't only give some technical background you got into the music and just the appreciation of it really was nice thank you much. Hope life will be kind to you and that you won't go away soon. All cultures are special however being an African-American I really am appreciative of these talented artists and how they approach R&B. Does my heart good.
Cool enjoyable reaction. One thing you might want to consider is to rewind your start point a little bit after you’ve paused to share your thoughts. It helps with continuity & context of the song. Sometimes it may get paused in the middle of a word or phrase, & when you resume, it gets chopped or missed. And as you can hear & see, ain’t no dead spots or throwaways wit these cats. It’s all good for real! Nice job! Great points on APaak & Bruno’s vocals, but what’s also key is that the other 2 singers that appear on live performances are part of that Silk Sonic harmonious blend as well. On the full album p, they’re joined by others, like Babyface, who helped arrange Put On A Smile. Multi-instrumentalist D’Mile, also contributed background vocals on several tracks.
"Skate" Songwriters: Bruno Mars, Anderson .Paak, D'Mile, James Fauntleroy, Domitille Degalle, and JD Beck Producers: Bruno Mars and D'Mile Music Video Directors: Bruno Mars and Florent Dechard
I'm 64 and the line smell better than a B B-Q are spot on those that didn't grow up with this style of music don't have the capacity to understand what's out of their league they would prefer he used that derogatory B word it's a mind thing!
Unfortunately this masterpiece never gonna make it to the top 10. Bruno Mars is famous for his songs with a retro feel but modern sounding. But this must be the first one that he couldn't balance. The tempo of the song is a bit lack of upbeat for the present mainstream music mentality. It should've been more funky with a bit more modern sound. I remember first time I heard it and said "This is fantastic, but it's not gonna do well on charts and stream". And sadly I was right. The song debuted the Billboard Hot 100 on no.14, and dramatically dropped on 35 in the second week.
I think you may be right. The only way this is going to crack the top ten is if radio puts it into heavy rotation. It does not have the immediate hit hook that Leave The Door Open has. It's too bad because this track sounds so good. Let's see what happens next week.
@@PopLife The track is awesome. Full of quality. Super rich as the aspect of instrumentality. Killer vocals as usual, no doubt. But it does not fit today's music at all, that's the problem. You gotta aim commercial success besides quality as well. And Bruno Mars is famous for that. All of his records are super balanced between past and the present. That's why he's so successful. But it's not the case for "Skate".
@@paranoyakrobot I dont think he is going for that commercial success anymore. If he did, he wouldnt be taking risks with a sound like this. He thought even LTDO wouldnt chart well. They are bringing this 70s sound back and the artists who are going to follow up with this sound is going to benefit very much from this. Just like what happened with 24K magic. He brought back the 80/90s sound back (where he was also successful) and other artists who followed that are benefiting from that to date. An evening with Silk Sonic will be a historic album nevertheless. It will stand the test of time, which is more important I guess
@@SriLankanStuff That's what I thought actually. There's no way Bruno did "Skate" this way accidentally. He's 35 now and proved himself a lot of times. I guess it's kinda normal for him at this point of his career that not chasing mainstream and commercial success anymore, and just make the music he wants. But I wanna see him destroying charts and stream. Because he deserves it, he's a special one. Especially if we consider the present music market, he's an ocean in an endless desert.
@@paranoyakrobot OFC he will end up with likes of MJ and Prince. I just feel he had enough commercial success. Now it's time to do some great music. Something musically important. If they sell well, good for him. If they dont, it will still be talked about through musicians and musical history books. I guess that's what he is trying to do now.

Yep Ronnie, those artists back in the day could relay sexuality and sensuality with a few choice words. Marvin Gaye was a master at it.
THAT BASS PLAYER IS ACTING A FOOL. HE IS GETTING IT IN
Oh no doubt!
Love your reactions Cisco! Can you react to Bruno Mars Calling all my Lovelies at Apollo Theater?
Thanks Monsel, going to start taking down these requests. Would love to do it!
@@PopLife you're the best!!
We're waiting for your reaction to Smokin out the window 👀
Thanks for the push dude!
I love the reaction but man that Bettie Page shirt you are wearing is awesome!
Thanks Sky! Glad you dig the shirt!

Would love your thoughts on Billie Eilish's recent tracks - like "My Future."
BTW Bettie Page shirt! Style!
