@@ArdithMcKeaiggthats because this is the originals! No replacements yet. The Woodstock 12! Only 4 of them went on to act in the hit movie Grease and their own successful tv-show
Rob Leonard in the gold lame. Jeez, how many guys pushing 80, just wandering around on UA-cam on a Sunday night, get to see his work from 55 years ago (!) still being preserved and enjoyed? Nice.
Thanks for this, really great to see. Also shows it's gino doing the 2nd/4th/6th 'Silhouette' at 1:36 as part of a nifty microphone share with Bruno in this early staple for the band.
Thanks for the recent rare Sha Na Na video. Please post more - if you have any! Rare old original Sha Na Na videos are the best. But there is also a good one of the band when several changes had been made. The video was from some American TV variety show and featured At The Hop and others. Denny was still in the group then. Also, any with Frankie Adelle?
@@larryguidry2856 I'd packed sunglasses as part of my get-up from the very start, but I didn't learn to keep them on without exception (for the sheer recognition factor in such a multi-member group) until years later! If I'm not mistaken, the Woodstock "At the Hop" performance was done with sunglasses, whereas the "Book of Love" performance was done without them.
@@donnyyork2149As a kid, I always thought Jerry Fox (from Cleveland) was someone else because you were sans shades, striped shirt and ungreased. Lol.
I was going to say that's a lot of band members.. then three more band members dressed in gold appeared. Bowser isn't even with the group in this lineup! I do wish that the rest of the Woodstock footage would be released.
Teenager in Love sung by Joe Wittkin I think it is impossible because on their website they clarify that their performance was not recorded but perhaps the rest of the footage exists since in one video several cuts of Woodstock's performance appear for brief seconds
You can tell we were enjoying ourselves, but our early work always sounds like undergraduates trying not to make mistakes -- a little too clean and glee club-like for doowop & roll!
Yes, its him. Bowzer replaced him in 1970 because Coopers girlfriend made them move to Europa. It was Gino (Elliot the legend Cahn) who brought bowzer in the group
I read another comment and it was under another video and it mentioned that most of the Shannon our Vietnam vet wow did they let off to let off some steam that had built up in them
Bandmates--Is this one of the first three latenight shows we did? Carson, Griffin, Cavett? -- Rob Leonard Wait, no, come to think of it, I did Teen Angel on Griffin, which I believe was our first one. So this is one of the others? Anyway, thanks for posting! And I love the comments!
Wondering that too. Probably from one of their concerts as an opening act. Besides the Woodstock concert this is the only concert I have found with the original 12 (besides one that had overdubbed audio)
Either 68 or 69, by 1970 the band was loaded with replacements like Bowser and Lennie. The video is most likely from 69, but the question is whether the video is taped before or after Woodstock in 69
This when Sha na na was outstanding!!
I loved them best on tv
This is very rare. These are the original 12 members. Thanks for sharing.
Love these guys especially Donny
Totally remarkable that these old Vids are finally surfacing, especially with the original line-up. THANKS for posting this!
Wow, Santini with mustache and HAIR!!!!!! Then you know its a rare video
Wow I never would have guessed that was Santini!
I didn't even know it was him?
I don't recognize most of them!

Fantastic video thanks for sharing 💖guessing this is either 1969 or 70 . Before my buddy Lennie joined 🤔
I’m not for certain but isn’t the dude in the white undershirt Lennie but without the beard?
@@MCB13132 I think that's Dave Garrett
@@ShaNaNa242 It is Garrett
Is this before Donny's shades had joined the band?
LOL I had to look up the Woodstock vids to see if the shades were there or not! Too funny!

Is this the same line up as the Woodstock performance?
Yes

I never found a source about serving in Nam. They formed at Columbia University.
They were not Nam vets. The original members were all college students.
I think 60s vedio..rare
Are Donny, Denny, Santini, and Jocko the only original members to make it to the TV show
Yes indeed

Al Bowlly I was thinking it was from a TV variety show (e.g., Mike Douglas).

He is not a original, he came in 1971
