    I have a 2018 JD X739 and simply love it. I also had an issue where I lost all power steering and found that the steering actuator was not tightened all the way, thus leaking out all over my lawn killing it. After tightening it and refilling it with fluid, it has been a dream. Yes I know the frustration of something brand new not working properly, and I was upset that the dealer didnt have the mechanics go through it all and make sure all fittings and connections were tight! But it was just some fluid and so far so good with the X739 16k for mine with the 54" deck, 14 bushel bagger system, front quick hitch and de-thatcher, & the electric broadcast spreader. Hopefully it was all a good investment. make more videos of it in use. We need more X739 videos.

    I have had a L120 for 14 years. Just now rebuilding the deck. I've replaced blades, filters, and oil thats it. I have a budget machine. I would be calling the corporate office if I dropped that kind of cash.

    Dude, you are handling this whole situation like a 6th grader. You can't live your life like this. Take a deep breath and try to have a little perspective on things. Honestly, it just hurts my ears listening to you whine and moan with all of your man drama. Yes, it sucks and yes, it happens sometimes, but your acting like JD deliberately sought you out to make your life difficult. If I were a JD rep I'd hustle you right on over to Kubota. Breathe.....

    I am trading my x320 in for the x739. I pick up next weekend. I have had 2 john deeres in the past 20 years. Not a problem. I hope i have zero with the new one

    That is exactly what i would do if my tractor was getting warranty work, I would throw a temper tantrum and video it for all to see. Just kidding. What I would do is tell them "I need something to mow my grass while my brand new unused tractor is getting fixed." if they said "no", then I would throw my hissy fit about the dealer. not about the manufacturer. Do you for example understand that Deere does not make that hydrostatic?

    • @scaf_007vs3
      @scaf_007vs3 4 роки тому +1

      I agree 100% I think the owner should get his bearings straight, calm the f$%! down and reasses the situation. John deere uses other companies hydrostatic transmission just like every other mower manufacturer.

    Why didn't your dealer give you another one to use while yours is being repaired? Did you contact the Deere rep and demand a new one to replace this lemon? Did you call a lawyer and have them contact both your dealer and the Deere rep? You are correct on not knowing who is repairing your machine or even if it's being repaired correctly. A lot of complaints come from buyers who find their machines going right back in to the shop. I would be mad as hell too and I would definitely scream loudly at this type of customer "service". I hope it all works out for you and you get what you want.

    I feel your frustration brother. For the price of these tractors you would think it’s a quality machine. I have an L130 John Deere that I bought in 2000 and never had a single issue with it. In my opinion, they ought to give you a brand new machine and they should have at least offered you a loner so you could cut your grass.

    Sorry for your troubles. Any updates? Coming up on a year with my 739 and so far so good, knock on wood. I'd be curious to know what they found and what it took to fix it, so I can watch out for it in the future. Thanks!

  • @mic982

    I understand your angst - I'd be unhappy too. But this is not common with JD equipment. You bought a unit with something done wrong at the factory and depending on the skill of the shop your machine is in, should have back and working soon. I'm thinking if you had noticed the leak sooner, with the very few hours on it, the dealership should have replaced the machine outright, immediately. After two months, well, that all rides on the dealership. Any updates?

    I have a X749 and had a similar story when I first picked it up. Came out to garage and found a puddle of hydraulic fluid over the floor. The milk was definitely spilt, because all I wanted to do was mow my lawn. Subsequently it was fixed, but was not assembled correctly at the factory. Feel your pain, but if it helps I have not had any issue after 200 hours.

    Obviously total grounds for being livid. Seems like maybe a dealer assembly issue more than a JD issue? How has it been since this debacle?

    • @stereopolice
      @stereopolice  3 місяці тому

      Yes; it was a hydraulic leak from the factory; fixed, and many years since w/out a problem; very reliable and and excellent tractor.

  • @Bradmeiser
    @Bradmeiser 6 років тому +2

    And then to add insult to injury they probably didn't put it back together correctly and made sure something else is leaking. Had something similar happen to my X750 it was leaking fluid from the power steering lines somewhere. I had to return 3 different times on that pos lemon. I made them give me another tractor.

    John Deere makes a pretty reliable tractor, I think the issues are with the dealer and not the JD company. Call the company and talk to them. I recently bought an X540 used 370 hours on it. Found out, I have to go over the tractor make sure everthing is up to par. Tried to change the spark plugs, broke a screw driver trying to remove the spark plug, Bought a breaker bar to loosen the plug. I have to work on the plug issue, but am leary of doing it right now in the winter weather, need the tractor for snow blowing, I live in snow country. The x739 is ssuppose to be an awesome tractor. Keep the faith, John Deere makes the most dependable home tractor, your's will get fixed and you will be another Happy Camper.

  • @Roostertailin
    @Roostertailin 5 років тому +1

    That was probably the dealers fault. I doubt John Deere is putting out products like this. This was definitely more if a rant then a review, however, I feel your pain. I would still recommend John Deere as a good tractor. This one probably got messed up by the dealer, or it was just a dud.

    If it sat for that long and had a huge leak how about your thoughts on your first sights of a leak no matter how small on a new tractor you call the dealer before your just like oh well it's leaking but instead of fixing the issue before your grass is hay quality you didn't. My 3 john deere tractors, x595, x738, x739 had loose hydro fittings so I tightened them because why.....because the dealer ain't worried about your grass or other contracts you have.

      Got it back today. I was some kind of seal way up high on the transaxle. The service manager said he'd never seen one fail before, let alone a on a new one. I think you'll be just fine. It's a good riding and cutting mower. One complaint - I wouldn't buy the air ride seat again ; it as no lateral support and you always feel as though you are fall out of the seat, constantly grabbing the handles on either side. Not good. Best of luck with yours. I'm not contacting the rep unless the same problem happens again. Regards ....

    Sorry to hear of your problems your having with the x739. I'm looking for a new tractor and was considering between the x739 or the x584. Maybe look into the Newfoundland Tractors. I have a few friends that own them and have not had any issues with them.

      big difference between a heavy duty lawn mower and a SCUT. The NH you were thinking about is almost certainly a SubCompactUtilityTractor. The Deere equivalent would be a 1025r, not the x739. you get the x739 if you need to turn tightly.

    • @capti443
      @capti443 3 роки тому +1

      Undoubtedly, I’d be mad too with his experience, but keep in mind that you are seeing only one instance of a lemon here - as opposed to how many hundreds of X739s over how many years. I’d recommend caution in making a decision on one data point. As for this gentleman, since the unit is new and should be covered under warranty, I’d be looking at the provisions of the warranty to see if I could get an exchange for another unit altogether. A good dealer should work with him, I think. I wish him luck and am sorry to hear of his VERY frustrating hardship.

    I'm still using a 22 year old LX178. Doing many of my own repairs on it. Was thinking of upgrading to an x739. Getting too old to drop and the deck and pull it out. Like the drive over deck feature. Also nice to see it has the drive shaft instead of betls. Love my liquid cooled Kawasaki Engine. I think I'll stay with the liquid cooled engines in stead of the air cooled one's.

  • @vuch9802

    I hope your tractor has been fixed by now. Those X series all wheel drive tractors look very nice. I could use that at my home, too. I have very steep ground and a steep driveway to plow in the winter.
    I decided to go vintage. I bought a 1970 John Deer 140 about 20 years ago. The frame is made out of 1/4 inch thick steel. It has three hydraulic implement control levers and a cigarette lighter. Forward/Reverse/Stop are controlled by another hydraulic lever on the left side of the steering wheel. I also have a 54" blade for the front that I plow snow with. I paid $1,100 for it and have had the engine rebuilt twice since buying it. The last time I had the engine rebuilt, a couple of years ago, it cost me 1k which is still cheaper than getting new stuff. I'd have to say the "old girl" has served me well all of these years. I use snow chains and double cast iron traction weights on each tire year round on it for traction. I had a weight box custom made that hooks on to the back of the frame behind the wheels. I can put about 300 pounds of weight in it which offsets the 170 pound blade on the front so I can drive up the driveway in the winter with only two wheel drive.
    These tractors turn into a large paperweights when something goes wrong and it is frustrating when they aren't functioning properly and perhaps also a little embarrassing when they are sitting dead in the yard! But we need them. I'm not going to use a push mower to mow all of that grass. I'm not going to spend 3-4 hours shoveling snow when we get 10 inches of snow or more!
    However, I do feel your pain and frustration!

    With as much lawn as you have, consider getting a Zero Turn Radius mower and cutting time will be cut in half - at least! With the money you save, get a good snowblower! You should still have money left over!

    • @stereopolice
      @stereopolice  6 років тому

      Too late my friend. I find the JD very useful for many other applications around the property though; I'm glad I have a tractor. I did consider a zero turn though.

  • @wa4aos
    @wa4aos 6 років тому

    I started out with a JD 2305 which is similar to your unit. Then, I decided to go with something a little beefer and got the JD 2520 and was that ever the RIGHT move. I have the 62 inch belly mower, bucket, Taylor Way 48 inch tiller, forklift attachment , box blade and several plows.. 5 years and no problems to speak of.
    With your 5 acres a 2520 is a better choice.
    The 739 is mor for a 2 acre home with light duty options. The 2520 is still compact but it delivers big time.
    Here is a video from YT with a guy using his 2520.

    I had 2 JD x739 tractors. Both of them were unreliable (I would take my x500 series back in a heartbeat). The first x739 I returned within the dealers 30 days for a no questions asked exchange. When cutting the grass, using the PTO a high pitched squeal eventually developed. I wasted a lot of time back and forth to the dealer to confirm my suspicions, it should not make then noise. It was probably a bearing but I was not gong to sit around with a tractor less then 10 hours use to have it rebuilt. The second x739 worked better for a lot longer. I am siting on 188 hours less then 2 years and now there is a very loud rattle coming from the front of the engine at high RPM. I am calling the dealer Monday but I am sure I will be without a tractor for several weeks. I agree with
    stereopolice
    , DON'T BUY THE x739. It looks like JD caved in to the pressure of the bottom line and are now getting their parts from China, the parts from my old x500 series were from Spain and other countries besides China. What are the odds two x739 and two pieces of $16K in junk.
