Your podcasts always make me happy but for some reason this one was extra extra! I recently frogged several projects too (back during spring cleaning) it’s amazing how much extra mind space you gain once you shake things up like that!
Kay, thank you for sharing this. I assume you could do this when working on a project and need to add the next skein as well. No more ends to weave in!!!!
Hey Leslie! I’ve only ever used this in my scrappy knitting so I can’t speak to how it would work in any other projects other than blankets. But, I think you certainly could!
I’m following the directions as you described. If you pull on the separate yarns/knots do they still pull away from the combined knot? If so, is that ok to continue to make the magic knot ball & it won’t come loose when knitting?
Hi Kay. Thanks for this tutorial. I have a question for you. Do you find any scrap too tiny to include in the ball? Obviously if it isnt big enough to wind around…what if the scrap is only a couple of meters/yards long?
Does this work well for worsted weight acrylics you think? I inherited husbands grandmas stash that is mostly acrylic worsted weight in many many different colors which I think could be chopped up to do a scrape Afghan with
Great video! Seems the Russian join just doesn’t work well for finger weight join in socks. Just too thin. I’m hoping the tiny knot 🪢 ends up on top of my sock, but I doubt I’d even feel it on the bottom. ☺️
Oh that’s the dream! I was actually talking it Eric about it yesterday! I feel like it’s a bit out of my reach and may never happen. But oh it would be amazing!
Best ever tutorial I have ever watched on making the magic knot😄. Thank you!
You’re so welcome! ❤️
Thank you so much. I wanted to start a ball with scraps since I love your scrappy projects.

Fantastic tutorial! Thank you!
Great video for magic knot ball. I'm going to do this with my left over mini skeins & make another project. Thanks so much! 🧶💜🧦
Thank you so much for sharing
Thanks so much. Love it. I make lots of scrappy yarn.
Oh my goodness that is a fantastic thank you for sharing. I have to try it 💞
That is so cool! Does it work with any yarn type? ThanX
That’s amazing. Thank you!

Is this knot strong enough for socks?
Can we use yarn this to make socks or is the “knot” not strong enough?
I was just going to connect two yarns for my socks and had to learn how to do the Magic Knot.... so thanks a million!
YAY! So glad it was helpful! ❤️
Love your tutorials and I am especially a big fan of your sock knitting! Do you use magic knot with sock knitting?
I’m following the directions as you described. If you pull on the separate yarns/knots do they still pull away from the combined knot? If so, is that ok to continue to make the magic knot ball & it won’t come loose when knitting?
Once tightened up and the ends snipped I’ve never had any pull away in the way you are describing.
thanks Kay!!!
wow! that's how its done thank you Kay :)
Fall is my favorite season. Can’t wait to start a fall cowl tomorrow, 9/1. 🍁🍁
Thank you, thank you!! That's awesome!!

If I can tie it in, I add it!
Thank you!!
I’m such a perfectionist and hate any knot in my projects. Have you ever tried the Russian join method to connect two pieces of yarn?
Nope I haven’t. Magic knot works just fine when I’ve used it.
Does this work well for worsted weight acrylics you think? I inherited husbands grandmas stash that is mostly acrylic worsted weight in many many different colors which I think could be chopped up to do a scrape Afghan with
I’ve never used it with Acrylics but I wouldn’t see why not.

Thank you!!! BJ
You need your own shop and be able to teach! ♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️

Great explanation, I take it this knot holds up in the washing machine :)
I’ve never used it on anything that I have put in the washing machine so I can’t speak to that.
@@CrazySockLady Ah...well there's only one way to find out...wish me luck 🤣
@@chrissylawuk so how did machine washing go?
@@taylorbrown7514 Haven't dared to try it yet 🤣
Like 👍👍hi 안녕하세요 반갑습니다 ❤️🇰🇷🙋🏻♀️
Thanks so much for this tutorial Kay! You explained it clearly and showed all the steps I needed to get my head around it!
Found it visually confusing. Jane Richmond blog seemed more clear.
Everyone certainly learns things in different ways ❤️
