As an ILOCANO myself I would want to clarify the misconception about us being always told as “Kuripot”-In a sense that we are being wise in terms of money. We are just being thrifty and/or not a big spender, we keep our money for our future and emergency purposes like we always thought of “what if wala ka nang bubunutin na pera kapag may emergency” kind of mindset. We just don’t wanna waste our hard earned money to nonsensical things. We earned money and then invests it such as house, car, education, livestocks or buy an agricultural land. Plus, we Ilocanos are not selfish-we are generous. 😊 That’s all from yours truly--from Ilocos Norte. ❤

But do you know what law of attraction say? The more you keep your money, the more it will go away from you. Money is meant to be spent, not to be kept. The more you spent money wisely, the more you attract money. You only live once, treat yourself and your family well with your hard earned money.

@@micronano8345 @micro nano If you have a stable income, why not? But spending more than you should unnecessarily without any enough savings for emergency (or for college if you have children), that does not sound a wise way of living.
And even if you die, your hard earned money will be a big help for the loved ones you left behind. Creating happy memories does not have to be expensive. Better be practical.

To answer that misconceptions about bisaya being katulong---well partly to be blame would be the entertainment industry because when they put maid characters they would often showcase these characters as bisaya which is sad. But Bisaya are good singers and hardworkng people..(Morisette Amon, Janine, Dulce, Pilita Corales.. to name a few)..Also if with regards to the pronounciation...majority of our words are pronounced with the hard vowel sounds..but we can pronounce better in english..

Oragon/Uragon originally has a bad connotation. Ang meaning talaga ng Oragon/Uragon is a person that has really high sexual drive or basically mal*bog. I remember as a kid, lagi ako pinapagalitan ng parents ko pag naririnig ako na sinasabi yung word. Nowadays, because of how the word was used sa mainstream media, iba na din meaning niya. Not all Ilocanos are "kuripot", but I think the main reason is that unlike other Ethnic groups, they don't have the fertile land in the West ( Ilocos Region) like in a lot of regions in the country then they deal with the most Typhoons in both East (Cagayan Valley) and West all year round. That made them allocate their limited funds in more important things. This is also the reason why they highly value education, because you can either go abroad or have a good paying job in the capital.

  • @jeroldamacio8270
    @jeroldamacio8270 Рік тому +2

The reason why matigas ang E and O ng mga Bisaya or any part of Visayas is that we don't have the vowel sounds /e/ as in 'eh' and /o/ as in 'oh' in our language. Baboy to babuy, pera to pira, etc.
Kaya naaapektuhan ang ibang Filipino words when a person from Bisaya speaks Tagalog or Filipino.
Some dialects in the Visayas also have special vowel sounds that do not exist in Filipino language. Like the schwa-like vowel sound ng Kinaray-a from Antique. Skl.

Naging misconception talaga na ang karamihan sa bisaya ay katulong dahil sa pakikipagsapalaran ng mga normal na manggagawa sa Luzon kagaya ng pagiging helper. Manila is the capital city of the Philippines at kung icocompare natin sa salary rate, meron tayong Manila rate at Provincial rate. Syempre, doon pupunta ang mga tao sa better opportunity or mataas na sweldo. Na-stereotype na din kasi ang mga bisaya dahil mostly ang role ng mga bisaya sa mga pelikula or teleserye ay katulong kaya yan na ang tumatatak sa isipan ng karamihan. Pero now lumalago na ang economy ng mga province areas kaya marami na ang opportunity na nagbubukas aside from Manila.

also, filipinos should stop belittling bisayas just because of how they pronounce words. english speakers, for example, also have different ways of pronouncing words. american english speakers do not feel superior to british english speakers just because of how they pronounce their rs.
of course there will be differences in pronunciation. it's just the negativity that is toxic...

Bilang mixed ethnicity (Tagalog-Tausug-Kapampangan-Ilonggo-Sinama) Nakakatuwang panoorin itong video na ito dahil marami sa mga kamag-anak ko ay mixed ethnicity rin (merong Batangeño, Ilocano, Bicolano, Yakan, Bisaya etc.) So in a way na nakakarelate ako sa mga sinasabi nila.
Maligalig means maiyamutin; easy to feel irritated/annoyed.
As a Half Batanguena, for me, it's partly true. Minsan kasi napag-aakalaan lang na galit kasi malakas boses kahit katabi lang ang kausap, daig pa mga bingi 🤣
Dala na din siguro ng pagging strong ng personalities ng Batangueno. Other facts are matapang (may sariling paninindigan) and mayabang (in a good way na sobrang hospitable). Like may mga magagara kaming plato na nakalaan lang sa bisita. Ika nga ay "Mawala na ang yaman, wag lang ang yabang" 🤣

Individually differences but that's what make us unique.Baka mas alam ni mr. half-ilocano half-igorot and cordillera traits niya more than the ilocano sid haha, paturo ka kay Juwonee ng Batangas accent. She is a korean whom I believe graduated from UP? I always watch her short vids sa tiktok. So fluent magtagalog just like you and knows the batangueño accent.

    Stereotypes:
Ilocanos are kuripot. They know the value of hard work. Ilocos is a mountain region where they labor under the hot sun. They experience tagtuyot regularly which makes staples hard to come by and unless they learn thrift, there won't be food on the table.
Bisaya like the easy life. Topographically, the region is surrounded by fishing waters. If you want to eat, you jump into a boat and go catch. You don't have to toil under the sun like the Ilocanos. They are conditioned to go for work that doesn't require much effort.
Kapampangans are maluho. Pampanga used to be a vast and rich territory in history. Being named after the riverside, it was a place of buzzing trade of goods, including luxurious items.
The environment contributes to the shaping of the culture.

Ilocano as being kuripot. Disiplina po ang tawag dun. Hindi po talaga bastabasta naggagastos ang mga ilocano sa mga bagay bagay na di kailangan. Lalo na sa pagkain. Dahil maraming libre jan pumitas ka lang.

Ako po taga Mindoro naiintindihan ko yung Batangeño kasi yung dialect or most of their words are similar to us minus the accent.
