Another lovely pour Ken, and you’re so right about the beautiful location. It’s also nice to see a business that’s able to provide some employment for local labour…We need more people like you Ken, live long and prosper buddy! 🖖
Quality builder you are, I enjoy watching your methods. Having been in construction for forty plus years, I appreciate your methodology in all phases. Also, your demeanor in working with your men is fantastic, I hope they value a good boss.
boy thats some hard work Ken and its got to be nerve racking working against the clock with dry time and the weather also your crue is great everybody knows what to do great job thanks
Concrete! Such a necessity part of the build but very often unapecciated, it's that non stop work push that makes many visit the chiropractor office! Great video ken! And god bless you all in the backs!
Like the way that you stay calm and just follow the plan you have laid out. I had a crew pour my simple walkways on my new house. Double the guys in the crew that you use and they were an unorganized mess. Ended up not ordering enough concrete. A total disaster. Keep up the great work!
Good Morning !!! I love your Videos Ken !!! I am in the process of construction right now on my own shop is 30x36 12ft walls and my existing workshop 26x14 will be attached on back all the same slab . Keep up the good work .
Sir Ken Again you need like a (yard sale concrete) sign for the driveway with balloons so you don't have to chase down the concrete truck lol 😆 man that pizza pan does crank right up 1 pull that's awesome! you fellas look like a real team nice work!!! 👍🖐🇺🇸
Hi Ken. I have a question regarding the cement pitch to the drains. Once you've established the pitch, how do you make sure that it stays correct when you do the finishing work? I really enjoy your channel.... Thanks!
I have been following your work for a bit now. Quality stuff! I know some of these concrete pours I imagine are customer budget met. I live in cold climate (Alaska). Should I be doing 6mil vapor barrier, foam on top, then mesh. Should I put foam on stem wall exterior? Not installing in floor radiant heat. Just want good long lasting concrete as well as good thermal barrier to prevent heat loss.
Ken... Help me play contractor here. A 24 X 44 slab is 1,056 SF. If poured 4 inches thick, that is approximately 13 cubic yards. If that's correct so far.... why does it take 3 concrete trucks to deliver 13 yds of concrete? Seem to me that 2 trucks at most could cover a 13 yard pour? Maybe road restrictions on the amount a truck can run? Would appreciate your perspective! :-)
Do you guys like the cement work with setting the forms or the framing of the garage and closing it in most. It seams like the footings are the most stressful. There is not much time to get it right. The framing can be corrected if something goes wrong. Thanks for the great video's.
Varies somewhat; This is known as flat-work; Looks like #4 or #5 18" OC … Most normally this would or might be a garage slab or for utility building · The rake with no holes is for moving the concrete → If you can get any concrete workers to move that fast uh we can both be rich !!!!
Hello Ken. I am Andrew of Toronto Ontario Canada. Please say/state the the temperature is 70 Degrees Fahrenheit, because almost half of our world uses Celsius degrees of temperature. 70 degrees Fahrenheit = 21.1 degrees Celsius Andrew, presently in Lviv western Ukraine. PS: I SUPER enjoy watching your build on youtube videos
I feel guilty sipping my morning coffee while Ken and his crew are working so hard! How many yards in that floor? Did it take more than two trucks? Do you ever use the fiber reinforcement additive for your floors?
Nicholas ... if you go to his home channel you can look through all the videos. I recall a couple where Ken is straightening up and organizing the trainer in the off season.
Depends on where the drain goes. If it leads to septic or sewer, it needs a trap. (and vent) If it just goes to the yard or a ditch, no trap needed. You don't want sewer gas coming up the floor drain, even if it's just a garage. That smelly gas can be flammable and can create an explosion.
@@fhuber7507 ... as I recall, when Ken does a floor drain it goes to "daylight" because building codes don't want a garage (with possible petroleum leaks) going into ground water. Many states don't allow a floor drain at all these days, unless it has a grease trap and a holding tank. (not a dry well)
How wide is that power skreet and what brand? About how much? Do you like it? Sorry for all the questions and thank you for all the videos. Really love watching your channel.

Thank you and your crew for sharing your workday

Thanks
Thanks, Ken... thanks for another fun video!
Thanks for watching
Love watching these!! Thanks for sharing.
Thanks
You make it look easy.
Ya know concrete work is an art of its own.
Anybody can smear it out but can you make it look smooth and level.
In one of your future videos, could you show a floor drain install? pre concrete, where you drain it to etc.
Yes I’ll try
Wow,I love the size of that garage
Thanks
Fine job by you and your team enjoy you videos👍
Thanks
wonderful video .... your channel is incredible and looks like you and the team work very well together. learning a ton!!
Thanks for watching
Fantastic
Thanks
Can’t beat those Honda Motor’s
True
Great job as always Ken and lads.
Thanks
Awesome Channel 👍👍.
Enjoy the videos. Why did you install the 1 X 2 inside the form boards, flush to the top?
To set the grade inside. Didn’t want to ruin the 2x10’a.
What slump are you pouring at? Do you use any kind of water reducers?
Another great start. How many yards of concrete did you use for this garage? 22-24? My 30x40 slab gets poured on Saturday.
We used 28 yards
Nice job looks really good.
Thanks
Hard work, good job.
Thanks for sharing these videos.

This one sloped 1” in 10’. The concrete stays in place very well.
Nice job!

I think I would
That's going to be a really nice one! Love to have me one of those at least 50FT wide! Can't wait for subsequent videos and the grand finale.
Thanks
Good morning Ken!
Good morning
Nice cement work there!
Thanks
Ken to the truck driver...
"....do you think you can find the driveway!". 😂
What concrete mix do you order for your slabs? Getting ready to pour a 54x36 pole barn slab and was just curious. Great job as always.

This slab was almost 7” thick with a 10” thick perimeter
THAT explains it!!! THANK YOU for your reply!!!
Another job well done
Wish you guys built in mass . Would love to have you guys build a garage.
Bummer
do you ever install in floor heat?........love your content
Not very often. Thanks for watching
@@kenskarpentry super glad prices are coming down.
You do Excellent work. I would get a garage built from you.
Thanks
thanks for sharing..

nice job
Nice size building! What strength concrete are you using? Any special additives? Keep up the great work Ken!
3,000
We here down hear that the lumber prices are going down in Connecticut any change for you in Vermont?
Going down a little
Ken, It is hard to believe but some people out there think watching concrete cure is not exciting.

How long do you wait before "pizza pan" polishing ? Thanks
A couple hours
Also Love your work

I don't think even Ken could lay concrete fast enough in a temperature of 70C.
I feel guilty sipping my morning coffee while Ken and his crew are working so hard! How many yards in that floor? Did it take more than two trucks? Do you ever use the fiber reinforcement additive for your floors?
Thanks 28 yards. We rarely use fiber mesh
Why would you put foam under concrete? Insulation?
Insulation. They will be heating the building
Starts first pull every time...must be a Honda engine?😊
Haha yes
Do you only build Salt boxes, just asking?.
No just happens to be the order we’re building them in.
Ken, do you still remember the first time you poured concrete?
Unfortunately yes. It was a disaster
Why didn’t you pour to the top of the form board. Couldn’t help asking.
If you and you crew ever want to make a road trip to Pittsburgh let me know!
Haha thanks
Do you have a video of your trailer setup?
Nicholas ... if you go to his home channel you can look through all the videos. I recall a couple where Ken is straightening up and organizing the trainer in the off season.
Mr Ken, when you put a floor drain in, do you put a trap under it, or just an elbow?
Just an elbow
Depends on where the drain goes.
If it leads to septic or sewer, it needs a trap. (and vent)
If it just goes to the yard or a ditch, no trap needed.
You don't want sewer gas coming up the floor drain, even if it's just a garage. That smelly gas can be flammable and can create an explosion.

Hey Ken who are the two hard working guys that help? could you introduce them on camera?
I’ll try
Hi Ken , do you snap a caulk line along your form boards to establish your floor height?
We screwed battens to the correct height then removed them after the pour.
