    Great video, comment on your trailer situation. 14 k is the amount the trailer is rated for. Deduct 100 pounds per foot of the trailer weight. So a 20 ft trailer you would only be able to haul 12k pounds. So if you rarely carry the full 12k you could keep your trailer. Again it only weighs as long as it is. Empty trailer would weight 2k pounds. Just a good figure to give one an idea on a trailer weight.

      Thanks. I was under the impression that gvwr of the truck plus the gvwr of the trailer had to be 26k or less and not the actual weight of trailer and equivalent. I’m so confused 😕

      @@arlingtonguy54you sir, are correct. The trailer could be empty and you’re still illegal. I have a f-350 SRW. Even my truck with my 14k trailers puts me over. If I get stopped I guess I’ll ask for forgiveness. With that said, in your scenario, I’d keep what you have and just buy a 5k car. Just my opinion. Hope it works out. Good luck

    Great video! Perfect if you only had the little guy. I agree you should load up the big guy and give it a go. :)

    Looks like a nice fit. When that bed is wet it will be sketchy as hell going down, though. Just from experience with my 1.7 and my dump trailer.

    I'm a bit late to this video, but the 6.2 gas engine is excellent, and having a dump bed should come in very handy. Seems like the dually offers you a much more versatile set up.

    Are you going to hope you have ideal loading and unloading conditions everywhere you go?
    Still a big truck to have to deal with parking
    This seems like more of a pain than just having the 2nd small car around for your daily trips.

    The way they're clogging up those diesels with emissions and shoving the carbon back through the intake, their life expectancy isn't what it used to be. I just recently purchased a gasoline service body truck for that reason. My '19 F-350 PSD spent 5 months at the dealership this year for warranty repairs. Definitely a torque monster but they gear those gas trucks right. I don't think you'll be disappointed but you definitely will miss having a nice truck if you sell it.

      Yes I am really attached to that torque and the clean ride. It’s a tough decision that I still haven’t made.

    no AND no !!!if THE GAS IS WEAK , it's gonna be real weak hauling your excavator !

  • @phatboizbackyardkustomz9006

    Don't worry about the GVW of the trailer, the actual weight of the trailer and the load upon and the truck together is what you are worried about for the 26000 total GVW. and your Volvo 35 is about 7500 LBS + or - So the best thing to do is to hook your trailer up to that truck load the 35 up with everything fueled up and to take to a local scale and see what it weighs. I am going to guess in the 22500 range. And please be careful loading that small machine on that truck with those little ramps!!! You need like a set of like step deck ramps for that, had a friend almost killed back in the day when a ramp folded up and the machine rolled I know you put the seat belt on but please don't take the chance with those ramps get something heavier. I have been messing with heavy equipment and hauling it for close to 50 years.

      Thanks for that info. I have a scale right near me. I’m not using those ramps and truck anymore. I went back to using my equipment trailer.Much safer!

    Sir, Take it for a test ride up a steep hill! I would not worry about the engine having enough power. A test ride will alleviate your fears, Ken

      A 6.2 not having enough power to haul that toy around???
      My 1926 model truck carries more than that with 40hp.

  • @kenskip1
    @kenskip1 Рік тому

    Look at this from a $$$ point of view. Gas is cheaper than diesel. The gas truck holds say 7 quarts of oil. The diesel holds around 3-5 gallons. On the gas truck if a coil or a spark plug goes out it could cost around $150. If a injector or a fuel pump goes out on the diesel we are talking thousands. Gas trucks generally start easily in winter. Also the gas does not have the "regen" feature to contend with. Gas engines are also quieter. I could go on but I think that you get my point. Ken

    • @arlingtonguy54
      @arlingtonguy54  Рік тому

      Those are all good points. I was worried about power but I read that for most people, the 6.7L diesel turbo is way too much for a f350 so I am sure the gas would have plenty enough power. Thanks for your comments.
