  • FM9 owners - I know that there are some of you that won't update until it's a production release, but you're still curious about the update, right? I hit on the main points in this video, but there are a LOT of additions/upgrades/fixes in this firmware!

      I'm guessing sometime next week. It seems to be pretty bug-free right now.

    Thank you giving us the info. It took me a three times to re-install "FW: 6.0 - Beta." At the first and second time, I noticed that the "SETUP" Config does NOT have "Gapless" option. It only has the "Spillover" item. I was getting frustrated. Then I went back to the Discussion site and reinstalled FW 6.0 - Beta 1" from "Windows 32 bit" to "...64 bit." What I found out, my Windows needs to be at 64 bit. This is why my FM9 didn't see the Gapless option in SETUP - until now. Just FYI...just incase, there are other people might not see the Gapless option like me. Lol.

      For the short demos I used Dyna-Cabs 4x12 Rumble EV12L, using a condenser mic pulled back 5.63 cm from the center. For the demo song I used Dyna-Cabs 4x12 1960TV, using a condenser mic w/ settings 2.99 cm for Position, and 6.63 cm Distance.

    Something is up with your audio levels and it seems to be coming thru on right channel only? those PRS Grissom guitars, have my eye on the gold top. If FAS didn't update the FM9 anymore It would still be better than any other modeler imo.

      I just watched it on FB, levels are balanced in both channels. I'm waiting on a DGT goldtop too.

      Agreed. I only with the UI was improved to be more user friendly- especially on the unit. Edit on PC is fine. I was at GC yesterday and played an old, abused, clearly giged Axe-FX ULTRA. It sounded great! I felt like I needed to take a shower after touching it. I bet it has stories to tell! They were asking $599. I am leaning towards going all in and getting an Axe-FX MkII Turbo. Thoughts?

      Be aware that the volumes can default to 100% on dynacabs. Protect your ears! I heard that was an issue for some. They had a FM3. Hopefully that loud bug was fixed.

    Hey Doug, everything went like you presented, but when I'm in set up and config only spillover was there, no gap less box below, I have all the new stuff just to gap less box, what could I have done wrong?

    Great video. I am on the fence between the FM9 and the Axe-FX MkII Turbo. Any thoughts? Yes, it costs more but one and done. I would not need to buy another unit for a loooooooooong time. Leon Todd has some very lush kitchen sink presets that sound great on the AFXIII Turbo. The FM9 can't run them. Or, should I wait for the next iteration of Fractal to come out? Seems like something might be in the works later this year or next- like new hardware.

    • @DougBsDigitalDen
      @DougBsDigitalDen  5 місяців тому +1

      The Axe-Fx III came out in 2018, so it's only 6 years old and I don't see Fractal replacing it for at least a few more years. If you need those kitchen sink presets, then your only choice is the Axe-Fx III. But it also needs a rack and a foot controller, preferably the FC12.

    • @UTAH100
      @UTAH100 5 місяців тому +1

      @@DougBsDigitalDen Thanks. Or I could wait for the Axe-FX IV. I like the latest and greatest. It also makes it more future proof. Looking at their past release schedule, the IV could come possibly debute in in a year or two. I have a nice pedalboard to hold me over. If I had to buy one today, it would be the Axe-FX III MkII Turbo. It's not that I need kitchen sink presets but I like the idea of being able to if I wanted. I have read the specs and it's more then just DSP. There are high resolution algo's and other nice pro features exclusive to the AFIII such as the ability to save things GLOBALLY. You cannot do this on any FM. Then there is Gapless switching, Ultra High Resolution settings and IR's,..and sure, more blocks. Having a foot controller is not a bad thing- can free up some space actually and lighter then a full FM9. It also has larger scribble strips. I would not drip $1800 on a 6 year old, used Axe-FX. I would want a warranty.

      Jack- I have been playing a while. I can very HIGHLY suggest, 1st seek out a Berklee College of Music grad and take some in person lessons. Even if you only do this for 6 months, you will benefit tremendously by learning the fundementals. Then, phase 2., sign-up for TRUE FIRE. I take lessons on this site now- phenominal instructors and easy to learn site. In person initially is important IMO. Learning guitar is like a 1 million piece jig saw puzzle. Videos and online is great but you won't easily connect the pieces. Lessons will give you more structure. It also provides you will direct feedback as to what YOU are doing right and wrong- how you hold the guitar, your timing, how you pick and you can have your questions answered quickly.
      Good luck- you won't regret it. And truth be told, even if you only learned 5+ simple chords and wanted to simply play some fun tunes (not solo), it is very doable with 5+ chords. I would not stop there but you don't have to become Eddie Van Halen if you don't want to.
