thanks for the mention kev, i think these sorts of sash lead abomasnow with some abusers of steel types being worn down are very good. dragons, gyarados, psychics ect. i think with cloy gone its going to be a lot harder to cover for threats like excadrill so i think maybe starmie + gyara could be a good idea. great video, enjoyed the watch. very informative!
I've always loved the dynamic of Abomasnow being the setter of the worst weather but haivng the typing and coverage to completely smash the setters of every other weather, which even includes Groudon and Kyogre
Hovering 1300-1400 with an ice team in BW OU atm. I'm running a forretress/obamasnow/mamoswine team, with Balloon heatran, Scarf latios, and a jellicent to help round out the team. Choice scarf abomasnow is my major secret tech, it can hit 360 speed with choice scarf, which lets it outspeed pretty much every non-scarfed mon in the meta. I generally try and get it in early for hail, and try and pressure with blizzard against Dragmag HO teams. Or use it as a solid switch into politoad against rain teams to reset hail.
@@Resener1 Feel free to play around with it as you wish, obviously. A few things i've noticed. Life-orb on mamoswine beats out choice band when using it as a late-game cleaner, or for early game pressure. Abomasnow's 3rd/4th moves have plenty of space to play around with, main core is spamming blizzard and occasionally giga-drain. Same with latios 3rd slot(Trick and draco meteor are key for disrupting stall and revenge killing respectively). Heatran needs air balloon to counter excadrill, which can really help hold the team together, and stops any HP ground volcarona cheese from sweeping. It's speed amount is also key, so you can throw it into a scizor, outspeeding superpower and getting a knockout that way. But there is definitely room for throwing rocks or other utility moves on it, aslong as you have a reliable fire-type attack. Jellicent can be fucked with a whole lot too, i settled on Acid armor and rocky helmet because i'm fucked in the head, but pretty much any jellicent set is decent, aslong as you can spread status, deny rapid spins, and keep it alive. Jelli and Latios are your key pieces for stopping keldeo from murdering everything else though, and jelli also provides a safe switch into water type attacks which pays off alot into rain teams. Forretress is left holding the bag a little on this team, with no real space for moves without giving stealth rock to heatran or mamo. But feel free to do that if you can find a move worth having on it instead.
the idea to use hail to facilitate chip damage on bulkier teams so you can blow holes in the opponents team with stuff like DDnite or volcarona seems so obvious in hindsight, I'm surprised it took so long
Love seeing all the Hail discourse, I was a huge fan of hail stall when I started back in gen 4 (not sure I was all that good but made top 100 on the ladder way back when). Probably quite difficult nowadays with so much Clef and Jirachi running around compared to back then, but great nostalgia kick.
I think instead of removing the chip damage, they should have made more types immune to it. Not Water, but maybe something like Normal (even though that makes zero sense)
6:25 I actually used a lot of Icy Wind Keldeo Rain but I kept losing to teams like that because I missed Icy Wind on Dragonites a lot of times (95% Accuracy).
@@The_VanniActually, the hail damage was generally good for Ninetales-A teams because it was one of the only ways to chip boots mons into KO range passively (and considering Ninetales-A is used pretty much exclusively on hyper offense this can be very useful). Also, statistically speaking it generally benefits the Ninetales-A player because it will be in for a turn or two to set up veil while the opponent will usually be subject to the entire 4 turns of chip because the good ices aren't safe switch-ins to Ninetales-A.

Kinda wish hail had the defense boost to ice types since gen 4 on top of the chip damage.

@rjante2236 Maybe Fighting types could be immune because martial artists do sometimes train in the cold weather.
