Hello there! I think that a very useful site that you can find all the latest information is the official IELTS site: takeielts.britishcouncil.org/
In this site not only you will find everything about requirements etc. but also it offers free practice tests.
As for my advice, well, you should prepare yourself for all four sections. All four sections have their tips and strategies but at the end of the day you are assessed on your knowledge of English. So, my first advice is to try and work on your weaknesses (grammar, syntax, etc). You only know what your weaknesses are, so sort them out gradually. Trust me, they will come up in your writing (you can't hide them in writing!)
Practice tests with timing is very essential too. As you can understand, IELTS is too vast a subject, so I can only give you some basic tips and advice about each section here, since I don't know you as a student.Let's start off with Reading.1.) I suggest a lot of practice with timing. Timing is the most difficult thing in Reading because it is not enough. So, you have to get used to doing everything quickly and correct. Do practice tests and time yourself. In this way you will know where you stand and where you need to get better.2.) Read a lot in English. In this way you will get used to reading quickly in another language rather than your own and you will get better without even realizing it. You should start off by reading articles online related on subjects you love and find interesting.3.) Try to understand the logic and what you need to do in each separate task of Reading. In this way you will be familiar with everything and you will not waste time during your actual practice.4.) Do not read everything. You will waste valuable time. Train yourself to distinguish the gist of each paragraph along with important specific information.5.) Always read the instructions carefully and Underline key-words in the tasks.6.) Be careful of paraphrasing. Train yourself so as to recognize same meanings that use different phrasing, different words that is.
7.) Most answers will be similar so you need to focus in order to find the difference. Three videos that can help you with Reading problems if you haven't watched them already are the following:
ua-cam.com/video/Mspflt0x0bM/v-deo.html
ua-cam.com/video/Z0Tze4TUHD0/v-deo.html
ua-cam.com/video/p2BdwQUjJFY/v-deo.html
Most people get overwhelmed by Reading and it is only natural, but please try to see it like a game and just play along with its rules.
Writing:
I love writing as a teacher because I can see all the weaknesses of my learners and then I am able to focus on them and sort them out. What I want to say is that in writing, experienced examiners can see through your writing, your actual level. So:
1.) Avoid complicated syntax and phrasing unless you 100% sure it is correct. Better be simple and correct than convoluted and wrong.
2.) Always underline what you are asked to write in case you forget during your writing.
3.) Use a draft. Organize a plan with what you need to write before you start.
4.) Be sure that you are organised in terms of paragraphs, cohesion, and coherence. These are all very important in IELTS writing.
5.) Try to use a variety of vocabulary, connecting phrases, and syntax. Use a synonym instead of using the same word all the time.
6.) In task 2 especially, always give explanations for your arguments.
Speaking.
1.) Pronunciation is important. They do not expect you to talk like a native, of course not, but you have to be clearly understood. So, try not to mispronounce words.
2.) You are going to be nervous more or less. So, the more prepared you are, the less nervous you are going to be. Keep in mind that the examiners see lots of people every day, they are tired too. They are on your side, not your enemy. So, if you go in there and just have a friendly conversation with confidence, if you make them forget that they examine which is the ideal, the higher you will score.
3.) There are no right or wrong answers in Speaking. You just have to be able to understand what you are asked and talk about it giving your own opinion or your arguments. They just want to see that you can communicate well and effectively in English and that you can justify and stand up for what you think.
4.) Answer questions on your own and practice a lot.Talk by yourself: practice makes perfect.
5.) In the last part especially, the questions are going to be a little more challenging. Earn some time to think by asking "Could you repeat the question please?" Most times, apart from a difficult word or phrase, the question is pretty simple, so don';t get too overwhelmed. I mean, if they ask you what do you think about nuclear energy, and you know nothing about it, you still know that nuclear energy is not something good right? So, base your answer on that. They do not expect you to be a scientist. Just to talk in English.
6.) Think in English as much as possible. The worst thing you can do is to try to translate in your mind what you would say in your mother language. Avoid that at all costs! Only experienced users can do that easily and even they get confused. Greeks do it all the time and it is so wrong. Be simple, but think in English. If you think in a language with a different syntax and vocabulary eventually you will get stuck and then you will forget what you started to say in the first place.
7.) Speak as you write. What do I mean by that? When you write there is intro, main paragraph, and conclusion. Keep that in mind with speaking too. Start with a starting phrase, state your opinion, complete you thoughts with an ending phrase.
8.) Learn standard connecting phrases to help you during speaking especially when you get stuck.
Well, these are some basic tips I can give you generally in all these three sections. As you can see this info is too general, but I hope I helped you. Bare in mind that no matter how much you practice and no matter how many tips you follow, the most important thing along with your practice is to try and learn the language a little bit better as a whole and work on your weaknesses.
Well, these are some basic tips I can give you generally for these sections. Each task is different so I cannot be too specific: some of these tips are a lesson on their own and cannot be analysed here but I hope that you get the picture on what you need to focus. As you can see this info is too general, but I hope I helped you. Bear in mind that no matter how much you practice and no matter how many tips you follow, the most important thing along with your practice is to try and learn the language a little bit better as a whole and work on your weaknesses. Good Luck with the exam!
+Ivanka Ilieva Hey there! I am glad you like the videos! You are absolutely right, that is exactly why in my channel I focus on each separate reading task and its strategy in a single video. Be careful with tasks like: a.) diagram labelling b.) sentence completion c.) flow-chart completion. Keep in mind that in these tasks the questions do NOT necessarily appear in the same order as the information will be found in the passage. However, even in tasks that follow the order of the text a basic knowledge of skimming and scanning will greatly help you to identify key-words quickly. I wish you the very best of luck with your exam! Thank you for watching!
thamks
hamdard zabuli you still need to improve your writing thanks
hhhhhhh sorry thanks dear teacher i know she is my best teacher .sorry teacher forgive me
hamdard zabuli What is there to forgive? I'm not sure I understand!! Thank you for your kind words, good luck with your exam!
+Akmal Makhamov Well, I firstly suggest what I share with you in that video. To my experience, the majority of my students follow this strategy that I tell you in the video and it works for them. There are some students though that prefer starting from the questions directly. They underline keywords in the questions and then go back to the text and scan in order to find the answers. There is no right or wrong way. The right way is what works for YOU. You should practice with both ways a little bit and you will find your own personal way that is best for you. Good luck!
i want to download your all videos but i can't do this so please help me now , Bec. online i can't see

Johnson Sewla Hey there! I really don't know how you can do that.. I don't think UA-cam has an option like that, because it wants you to watch the videos online. Maybe you need some kind of software for that? I don't know. You can try and search google for this and maybe you will find a way.

Rahim Ukani I'm glad it helps! Thank you for watching! Good luck with your exam!
Thanks to you for making and sharing knowledgeable video for us. :)
i've got a little tips too...
it's good to improve scanning ability..
- Find the Capital letter in each paragraph after skimming (It may be a name or important information)
- Find the repetition word even though that word has similiar meaning of it ( Finding the idea of paragraph...)
Repetition word such as
-----------------------ecosystem-----------------
--------------------------------------------------------
---environment------------------------------------
--------------------------------------------ecosystem
-------.
perhaps my tips would help your student to "conquer" the reading passage :)
Thank you for sharing! Actually I am working on a "Scanning and Skimming" video to upload separately in the near future for my Reading section and of course these tips are included because they are so important for IELTS! Well done! Good luck with your exam!

Congrats!!! This is amazing! Thank you for sharing that with me. I am glad my videos helped you but I am sure that your level of English is very good, too. Good luck with your next goal!
Damn!! way to go dude! im also looking for a score of 7. And i ll write the exam on June 28th. there are many people giving IELTS studying tips on UA-cam. But after reading your comment, i ll definitely stick with Dori. And i have been watching her videos for the past 3 days.
Dori, we have about 2.5 weeks before my exam. I ll completely rely on you. i ll try not to disappoint you. im a hard worker. i guess in order to help me better, you should know more about my weaknesses(well i ll enumerate those i have found so far).
1-Listening
In listening,my score vary between 27 and 36(i have noticed that i score less when there is a map to complete). I also have some issues with multiple choice questions(it got a little better with your idea of underlining the key words in the questions. but still i some times get 2 questions wrong) ANd my biggest problems in listening are the MATCHING and MAP LABELING QUESTIONS.
2-READING
In reading, i can't reach 30. my score keeps oscillating between 23 and 28. And it is becoming really frustrating and is increasing the pressure on my shoulders. i am having problems with TRUE-FALSE-NOT GIVEN QUESTIONS and the MATCHING questions. The method i have been using so far is : "read every paragraph and write down its main idea(near to the paragraph)". but it's been time consuming and does not seem to work with the match making questions. SO im really counting on you on this section.
3-Speaking and writing
i ll deal with these two 5 days before the exam. i have been studying for 2 years in English (in India). But the Environment is not English friendly since Indians speak a lot in their native languages. And i have been writing all my exams in English. So i guess i can keep these two for the End(but not neglecting them)
Like i said above, im aiming for an overall score of 7 but with both 35 in reading and listen. Really hope u can help me :-)
Here is my email address: deva316@yahoo.fr
Hello there! I am glad you found my videos helpful! I will try to give you some tips here and I hope they will help you improve your score.
-LISTENING
1.) The first thing you should try to do and this goes with all tasks is to never lose focus as much as possible. You are going to listen to each section only once, so stay concentrated. The reason I am saying that, is because sometimes they talk too much without giving an answer (this is very common) and you start having doubts and eventually you lose your concentration. This is exactly when they give the answer. So don't worry if they talk too much without giving away information. Just follow their talking word per word.
2.) Take advantage of pauses before the listening starts for underlining
3.) Now, multiple choice: They seem easy but as you saw, they are not. Try to use the pauses before the Listening starts to check out the questions. If this is not enough, do not read the questions word per word, try to scan the question as we do in Reading. Underline what you need to hear. What the question asks. For example, if a question says, 1.) What did the scientists notice about the experiment?
All you care about is "scientists", "notice" "experiment". This is what you wait to hear. Try to train yourself and eyes in your practice. It need some practice though but underlining helps.
2.) They will most probably mention all the options in order to confuse you. Try to follow the recording word per word and don't rush into answering, sometimes they change opinions instantly. Don't rush because you may miss an answer and then you will get anxious again and you will miss the next one too. Be calm; follow the recording; answer when you are sure.
3.) Be careful of Paraphrasing. They won't say the same words you will see written. They will use synonyms. All options may be similar so you need to really understand the meaning of what they say instantly in order to choose the correct option.
I talk about multiple choice problems in this video and probably the video will be more enlightening:
@ZIrjsUrbsWQ
4.) Matching: In Matching, always concentrate on the questions (on the gaps you need to fill in). There will be some options check them out to understand their meaniing, but focus on the question. So, when you hear them talking about the first question for example, be attentive and listen to the meaning of what they say. When they stop talking about it or reached a conclusion, check out the options and choose the correct one. If they are talking about opinions or feelings about a certain subject, you can also understand by the tone of their voice if they like sth or not, just a hint.
If your options are sentences and you need to match them with people, again underline the key-words in your sentences and keep in mind that you will hear them paraphrased most probably, so we care about their meaning. The most difficult thing would be to understand who's talking, the voice of the person.
5.) I consider Map Labelling one of the most difficult tasks in Listening. Some tips I can give you is to use the pause before the recording starts so as to get yourself familiar with the picture. Believe it or not, this is important, your eyes need to get used to it. Be familiar with the vocabulary that is used to express place (across, opposite, outside-inside, left, right, below, etc.) In the map, they will be some places or landmarks already named. See where they are and what is their connection with the gaps you need to fill in. Follow what the speakers say not only with your ears but with your eyes too. Look at the map to see what it shows and how it could be described.
-READING
1.) Please STOP writing in Reading!!! I assume no teacher told you such thing, there is no way you will have time for that and also it can get you very distracted from what you actually need to do. I have made videos on your problems, so I will give you the links because I consider them more enlightening. This video will help you to avoid writing on the side of each paragraph:

This will help you with NG answers because they are very tricky:

2.) As far as Matching in Reading is concerned, the method is more or less the same. Underline key-words in the questions and remember that these key-words are likely to be paraphrased in the text. Then, check out your options and scan the text in order to see where each option appears in the text. Read this part carefully and decide which question matches this option. If you have to match headings with paragraphs, then remember: Be very careful because the heading that you will choose should reflect the overall content of the paragraph. Sometimes a heading may use the same words as in the text but doesn't refer to the main theme of the whole paragraph. It is mentioned by the way, in one or two lines, not as a main theme of the discussion. So, that doesn't make it the appropriate one. The correct heading is the title of the whole paragraph. In this task, you have to scan the whole paragraph but pay attention to the details in the headings. For example, if a heading is: "From the past to the present" then, the paragraph should describe the changes of something through the years clearly. If the paragraph just refers to what happens nowadays and at the end just uses a very BRIEF comparison with the past, then this might not be the correct heading so be careful. Pay attention to what the paragraph focuses on, as a main discussion.
This is all you need to do. Reading tasks are supposed to be tricky, you know? And if you add the shortage of time upon that, mistakes are bound to happen. You can eliminate them by thinking smartly and by using the time to you advantage through skimming and scanning.
-WRITING:
I love writing as a teacher because I can see all the weaknesses of my learners and then I am able to focus on them and sort them out. What I want to say is that in writing, experienced examiners can see through your writing, your actual level. So:1.) Avoid complicated syntax and phrasing unless you 100% sure it is correct. Better be simple and correct than convoluted and wrong.2.) Always underline what you are asked to write in case you forget during your writing.3.) Use a draft. Organize a plan with what you need to write before you start.4.) Be sure that you are organised in terms of paragraphs, cohesion, and coherence. These are all very important in IELTS writing.5.) Try to use a variety of vocabulary, connecting phrases, and syntax. Use a synonym instead of using the same word all the time. 6.) In task 2 especially, always give explanations for your arguments.-SPEAKING1.) Pronunciation is important. They do not expect you to talk like a native, of course not, but you have to be clearly understood. So, try not to mispronounce words.2.) You are going to be nervous more or less. They just want to see that you can communicate well and effectively in English and that you can justify and stand up for what you think.4.) Answer questions on your own and practice a lot.Talk by yourself: practice makes perfect.5.) In the last part especially, the questions are going to be a little more challenging. Just to talk in English.6.) Think in English as much as possible. The worst thing you can do is to try to translate in your mind what you would say in your mother language. Avoid that at all costs! Only experienced users can do that easily and even they get confused. Greeks do it all the time and it is so wrong. Be simple, but think in English. If you think in a language with a different syntax and vocabulary eventually you will get stuck and then you will forget what you started to say in the first place.7.) Speak as you write.
I really do hope this information helps you to get your 7. I wish you the very best of luck on the day of your exam! Best regards, Dori
Thank You for your concern Dori! I guess I have all tools now. so what's left is Practicing!

Thanks! I hope it will work out for you!
thanks maim for giving me good strategy about ielts preparation and please tell me how to get fluency in English speaking because I do not have such a person with whom I can speak and can I get this by myself
+Ielts Liz Hey there! Well, I know this is a problem but don’t get too anxious about it. There are ways to practice speaking by yourself even without a partner. First of all, try to think in English in your everyday life even if you don’t talk out loud.
For example, in your spare time while you think about something, try to do that in English. We have millions of thoughts everyday in our mother language of course, but instead of thinking “Ugh, I have to go to work now” in your native language, try to do that in English as much as you can. See it like a game.
In Part 1 of Speaking the examiner is going to ask you some personal questions. All IELTS books with practice tests give you some of the questions you might be asked, but you can find lots of them online, too. So, take some time and answer the questions by yourself many times for practice. The same goes with Part 2 and 3. And now you are going to ask me, “yes, but who is going to correct me if I’ m wrong?” You are right, but keep in mind that what they want to see is if you are able to understand and communicate well. So, if you are prepared through practicing by answering questions and doing practice tests you won’t have a problem.
Also, if you work on the weaknesses on grammar you might eliminate other mistakes too. Just keep in mind that Speaking is in a way like writing orally. You have to answer the question to the point; be specific; use vocabulary; and always conclude with your main thought or idea. It will also help greatly if you record yourself and then listen to how you talk. In this way, you will be able to identify your problems more easily and correct them.
I know that a speaking partner is important and this advice is not ideal, but if you don’t have a partner, there are still ways to help yourself, sometimes even better if you practice enough.

Nice video. thanks for posting. But i have one question regarding reading
1) After doing reading section should i again do reading to look for my mistakes which i have done,by taking time more than 20 minutes for a passage?
If I have understood correctly, you mean that after you finish all reading passages, you check out for your mistakes. Since you have finished the section, take as much time as you need in order to understand your mistakes and why you made them. Don't time yourself for that. Time yourself only for the reading section during your practice. Good luck with your exam!
I think it will be called really helpful for my exam
