does it stay in automatic mode or does it revert back to the first mode?

Yes the scales work fantastic on their own without an app, however if you really want to geek out the bluetooth monitor module pairs ups nicely with the scales and BooKoo app. We offer a package deal on the Bella Barista website.
Looks like automatic mode auto-detects start... but doesn't auto-detect stop.
I have this. That's one of my biggest annoyances.
