This is why I bring you into my home! You can't see me but you very kindly share all things with me/us and I soooo appreciate that. I applaud you speaking your truth about rude and entitled people. That person knew how to subscribe and she knows how to unsubscribe. I watch because your life if different than mine yet in so many ways the same; two sons, two dogs one cat, I used to spin, absolutely love to knit, etc. You grow different food from what I can grow, you have an active loving group of friends and family. Seeing into someone else's life is very interesting. Just keeping moving forward!

Hi Ivana. I love your videos. Don't stop producing content because one in almost seven thousand subscribers (and, kindred spirits) probably is not happy with themselves or their own situation. I save your videos to watch while I'm knitting in the mornings while having coffee; it makes me feel happy and content. Your family life is beautiful. I like to have a peek into content creators daily life and how they process their ideas into making art. I think you are very talented so, I hope you don't stop sharing with us. I, like you, also believe that if someone doesn’t like your channel ( and I include mine also), they have complete control to go … and in my opinion they should go. I watch you for over a year, enjoy every episode, you have a lovely personality, you are a real artist. About nasty comments… imagine how unhappy and miserable that person must be. She uses you tube to insult and to try to hurt. Cannot efford therapy, doesn’t have family to help her. Feel sorry for people like that. Block it from your channel and your mind. You are a natural storyteller.
Warm and compelling, these videos are easy to tune in and listen to. I think it is brave to pour yourself into them, and they are much appreciated.

I love your videos. They're like eye candy. I understand that sometimes creators go off on tangents that I don't care about, but that is their right. I can fast forward through the part that I don't care about, or I can just quit watching. I don't send them comments about what I want them to talk about on their vlog.....it's their vlog.
You do you. I enjoy everything that you share. It opens my eyes wide to the community that we all should be welcoming of. Not the same, but the same. You are the creator; stay in control of your conception. Agree that if someone is not comfortable with what is being shared, there is no need to comment. They should move on to their happy place.

Hi Ivana. Like many others here, long time watcher, first time commenting. You provide a happy place for me with your vlogs. Love the creative (would love more spinning btw), love the garden, love the family and life content, love the fur babies and the music. Knitting my first jumper with your In and Out Raglan pattern (thank you for the inspiration). My questions is why does it take just one entitled individual behind a keyboard to bring us down? I think we are all vulnerable to negative feedback and for some reason, for most of us, it seems to drown out the positive. I hope that the person who wrote the comment to you, reads these comments, and realises what they are giving up should they leave this community. The support they likely need themselves is right here!
I enjoy your format. To be honest, I don’t like videos that are just what I finished and what I’m working on. It’s interesting, but I enjoy learning about other cultures and the what creatives do outside their craft. I think you have a great balance.
I look forward to Vlogtober and Vlogmas each year. I think these glimpses remind us that we aren’t all that different. We each are unique, but we have commonalities. That you for all the work that you put into your videos.
I could spend all day with you, and bring my knitting! Thank you for inviting me into your home. I honestly don’t know how some people can summon the energy to post negative comments. Another podcaster I follow (Danish Musings) had a similar thing happen to her when one person commented that she tuned in to her vlog because she liked the colours she chose for her garments. (She generally knits beautifully, intricate garments in powdery pastel shades) Beautiful, but one week she knitted something with neon pink, and this person actually complained that she didn’t want to see that! Like you, Helle addressed us, her audience, about it. She has similar opinions as yourself. If you don’t like it just leave. I’m just baffled by these people. It costs nothing to be kind. I’m so glad to hear that Sunny is improving… And, KEEP DANCING! 💃🏻💃🏻💃🏻
Yes I remember that! I love Helle! Also someone else said she was tired of seeing her knit baggy boring sweaters or something and she should try knitting something different. So you can’t win! I really respect the podcasters. They are very brave.
Ugh!!! These people have nothing bet to do, they’re simply jealous of your life! I am an OG subscriber and love how your channel has evolved. I felt the first 2 years were very somber yet artistic, but also therapeutic for you, to release whatever it was that ‘broke’ you. I did step away from watching podcasts - life!!! I need to catch up, will look for that video you mentioned. These experiences help me have insight and better understanding of people in general. I’ve returned earlier this year and I love to see your love for sharing who you are, as an artist and a creator. I am passionate about knitting but I’m even more interested in your life on Cypress! I completely agree there are some entitled nasty people out there. I filter comments now because yes it affects me but it crushes my kids to read some of things people say to me. So I delete and block. I don’t want the nasties in my community; they don’t belong. Be kind! It’s shocking how entitled people can be and demanding. Like John Wayne says, “don’t let the bastards get you down.” It’s been truly eye opening but you’re right for the most part this community has been great and beautiful. I really enjoy the content you put out. I love the fact that you share so much of your life and hobbies. It is all so interesting. It feels like sitting with areal friend. I can’t understand how people feel the need to criticize something you are giving them for free and that they can skip over or just turn off. I am glad to hear sunny is doing better. I have 3 dogs myself and there are a very important part of my life.
Wow, I'm.blown away that someone could be so rude. There are so many knitting podcasts to watch. We choose to watch people we like and have an affinity with. I love watching both knitting and snippets of that person's life. It's like having a friend, really. And of course, we empathise if their pet is sick.

I've drifted away from a few knitting podcasts over the last year or two, and sometimes I can't really put my finger on the reason that I lost interest, but even if I did know the reason I didn't feel like I needed to make an announcement on my way out. I don't understand what compels some people to act like you work for them.
There is a knitting podcast formula, with chapters, and certain things in a certain order, and a lot of podcasters stick to the formula, and that's fine, but it's not required. One of the reasons I like it here so much is because you don't follow the formula. I really enjoy the "Ivana ambience."
Kayla Litton (The Crazy Sock Lady) follows the formula in her podcast, but I remember noticing two things about her that were different and really impressed me. First, she doesn't hide the fact that she's a Christian (she doesn't center it, but she doesn't keep it a secret either). Second, during the run-up to Summer Sock Camp a few years ago she took a few minutes to address the issue of rude and entitled people who were trying to make some trouble for her. Basically, she said, very directly and firmly, that she wasn't going to tolerate any of that behavior and wasn't going to be pushed around. Good for her, and good for you! And good for all of us who stick around.
You made me laugh out loud when you said "performing monkeys". I love to see you standing up for yourself. I absolutely love your channel and getting to know you. I'll be here til the wheels fall off. Thank you, for sharing your life. It's always a risk. But you have friends here ❤

Ivana, I have always found you to be clear about who you are, your creative and personal interests. You have been very clear about your boundaries which I appreciate. Anyone who follows you knows this. This woman ,to me, is representative of the shift in culture that allows for ,or at least tolerates this kind of disrespectful, intolerant and self righteous behaviour . I wonder if it’s the same unpleasant person doing this to different knitting bloggers because another of my favorite UA-camrs (Lisa of Soulful Spinning) said someone made a comment “do you ever actually finish anything?” Which was so horrible and sad because what makes her so special is the mindful way she approaches her craft, fearless to experiment and try new things (that don’t always work out) and share all she’s learned for her audience. And here comes this person saying that mean thing and I’ve noticed this blogger is not making very many videos anymore. I began to think maybe this person is not right mentally or else had some upbringing where they never learned any empathy.
I don’t know why they don’t just unsubscribe and go else where.

I love you and everything about your channel! Oh, the rudeness is unbelievable - I believe there is a way you can block people that make these types of nasty comments. They can keep writing comments, but no one can see them, I’m not exactly sure how you do it or you may already know about this, but another UA-camr I watch has a one strike policy, which I think is fantastic! So happy your beautiful dog is doing better - I’ll keep praying for her continued good health!

Thank you for bring up this topic. Another UA-camr (not yarn related) had a similar issue this week and addressed it as well. Unfortunately these are the times we live in. I posted a picture of some yarn for a KAL and someone commented that one of the colors looked "dirty". What a comment, they went to others putting their negative 2 cents in the thread. I think someone else could have been crushed by negative comment based on where they are in their life. Hurt people hurt people. I don't think people are taught social skills any longer either.
Please don't change for us, be you. Your channel is peaceful and I look forward to what you present. I love your garden, making coffee, your pets, family, all of it. It's a lovely celebration of life.

❤ sending you a big hug! As a person contemplating vlogging, I so appreciate your honest share. I guess vlogging opens us to be vulnerable to attack, both subtle and extreme. (Hopefully not real harsh.) I think the answer is that we consider the source. The more harsh and negative comments must be from someone in pain. My approach is to silently wish them well and then ignore it. I’m so happy your dog is well! I love it when a podcast includes real life- and honest sharing. Personally, I don’t enjoy just knitting and cold tutorial-based vlogs. Please don’t change.❤

Ivana - I just want to let you know that I do enjoy your podcasts - dust, cobwebs - warts and all. You are right when you say, no one is forcing anyone to watch, follow anyone on social media. Ivana, often times I have thought of podcasting myself, mostly because I live in a very rural area where there are no other knitters and I enjoy the connections made on this medium, but also because I want to support local sheep farmers who are currently in a make-it-or-break-it financial situation here in Spain, and I would love to be able to promote their products to a wider English-speaking audience. However, what keeps putting me off is exactly what you discuss in this video: on UA-cam, you cannot control to whom you open the doors of your home.

The problem of selfishness and entitlement that this person is showing, and the lack of self awareness, is disturbing. I am glad you shared this incident. Happy to see your dog is doing well - I'm sure it's a great relief.That comment stunned me and it was good you read the post. Some people are just entitled and rude and you just need to leave them to stew in their misery. I recall a poster who told an expectant mother on here not to post her baby knits on her channel and she should instead create a new channel to show off her baby knits. She addressed the request in her video, simply said no and moved on. Good of you to set boundaries.
