Cover bottom of pot with 1 1/2 cup cold water. Add in trivet and place frozen or fresh ground meat directly on trivet.
Put the lid on the Pressure Cooker and turn valve to seal.
Set to High Pressure for 20 minutes.
Once finished cooking, do a quick release and then with pot holders, carefully remove trivet from Instant Pot.

Awesome! Thank you so much!
Frozen meat cooked in 20min? I can see the possibilities of this machine are endless. Thank you for the video.
You bet!
i cook frozen stuff all the time. I use the 5 minutes per pound rule to know the time to cook meat, chicken, etc., and it always gets me close. Great video and I think it will help a lot of folks. Thumbs up on your video,
Thanks so much Pete!
I like this 5 minute per pound idea! I followed this video method, 1 pound for 20 minutes and it is very cooked. I forgot I just wanted to thaw the meat out so I could make chili. Oh well learning all the time.
For seasoning I just rub the frozen roast in Better than Bouillon (paste). It has flavors but you can add seasoning which sticks to the paste before putting it on the rack. Would skip the salt tho or go lightly.
Great idea!!!
I am learning my new pressure cooker and love your video!! Great teacher 🙏
Wonderful! I hope you can find a lot of tips here to help you master your insant pot!
I think I will cancel my return of the insta pot I bought on impulse when it went on sale at 60. I will have to go back and see all your videos now, so liked and subbing, this is a very helpful and nice channel, thank you!
I hope I can help you fall in love with your Instant Pot! When used the right way, it is a wonderful appliance.
Run stubborn packaging under warm water. Sticky wrap comes right off! It works

Thank you dear.. you helped me with my boiled eggs for my salads for work..🙌🏾🥰🙌🏾and without the extra dra..!
Wonderful!
I love your recipes! Thank you for sharing :)
My pleasure 😊
Thank you for a really good, to-the-point video delivered in a charming way!
Thank you!
Wow. I'm here because I bought a huge 1.1kg tube of ground beef and want to cook it fresh and freeze it in 1.5lb portions. That way it's easier for me to use. TY for the video! I didn't want to use a frying pan for it.
Glad you found this!
So many awesome tips. Thanks
You are so welcome!
Great tip. Thanks for sharing.
Glad it was helpful!
This saved my dinner thanks!!
I am so happy this helped you--it has saved dinner for me many nights as well.
This is why I love my Instant Pot too!
If you need to multitask this instant method could be helpful. However, for fastest method, I can thaw ground beef in the microwave in 7.5 minutes and I can fry it on the stove in another 7. Plus I break up the meat as it cooks, which technically is not included in those 20 minutes of instant pot time.
Exactly the instructions I needed for my Insant Pot Plus❤
Wonderful!!!
Super great video, thank you!
Thank you!
It worked! Thank you!
You're welcome!
Found you appear again searching for frozen chuck roast pressure pot cooking since I've made with the Power Pressure XL before and figured I'd look online to see how others are doing. I just cleaned the "new" used Mueller 10 in 1 Pro I invested in that I found for ~$45 on eBay from a seller not far down the road from me and whom I've purchased from before, madcheatah. I totally do the repackaging of most all my multi-serving portions meat into freezer bags where I'm thinking I can improve to use freezer paper to wrap the portions, where now I've been and am still using saran wrap. Neat how the frozen meat turns out really moist and juicy. I do a butter with onions saute'd to golden brown and then add carrots and celery typically in with the roast to cook. Seems messier the way I do. I like your directions and am thinking I might try. Thanks for sharing!
I hope this helps you cut back on the mess
Great video. And your voice is so addictive.😉
Thanks again for the insight.
Happy to help!
I really miss your instant pot videos, has been forever since I saw you. I'm about to cook a frozen T bone steak, and looked you up to see how it's done by a pro. I hope you and your family are all good.....
Hi Pete! Well, make sure you have it the bell for notifications of new videos. I publish one every Saturday :) And I hope you are doing well too!
@@AMindFullMom , Yes I've had the bell on always. Since they changed to Window's 11, I have to manually hunt for videos... This time I found you again, when I wanted to thaw a frozen T bone steak, which came out well. 18 minutes on the low rack that came with the instant pot, then I followed it off in the oven broiler on both sides for that grilled effect. Good to hear from you Kristen.
@@SteelyPaw So happy you found me again :)
Great video! Thank you for sharing. I'm going to try it now and make some tacos 🌮 🌮
Hope you enjoy
Great video!!!!
Glad you enjoyed it
Please do more videos using frozen meat. Pork Tenderloin, beef roast & chicken would be so helpful. Thank you!
Absolutely! I have a lot of recipes that give you the time for fresh or frozen :)

Hi nice video! Do you know what alterations I need for frozen pork roast?
Hi Kimberly! I cook frozen pork roasts directly in liquid (like chicken stock, beer, etc) and cook for 30 minutes per pound with a natural pressure release.
You are adorable!! Thanks for sharing
You are so welcome! And thank you!
hi! where can i find the rack you use inside the instant pot? i have a different brand but same size as yours...please advise.
Since your model did not come with a rack, you can order one from Amazon, here is an affliate link for one: amzn.to/3bCrBB9
I cooked a pound of pork breakfast sausage in the instant pot, but wasn't sure how to check the temp. Cooked for 15 minutes and a natural release. I will try this method to check the temp next time, but it seems like it was done. Sure tasted good.
I use a digital thermometer to check to temp, but if you don't have one, just be sure it looks browned throughout the meat.
literally watching at 5:06pm i laughed at the beginning haha
Clearly I feel ya ;)
Thank you💕
You’re welcome 😊
Love your kitchen backsplash. Is it ceramic or stone?
Thanks! It is stone :)
Cook for 15-18 mins per inch, plus 10 mins. if frozen. Don’t forget the seasonings and broth or water. I use meat marinade with water or just beef broth. If you like it tender, let the pressure release naturally.
Could we do pot-in-pot if we wanted to keep the fat?
Yes! Just be sure to still use cold tap water under the trivet and place a heat-safe container on the trivet with the beef.
When you add the extra 2-3 mins, does the insta pot got to re heat up, or can you just add the time
It will need to reheat but will take significantly less time.
Thanks for the video. Put a frozen pork roast in the instant pot right now......will let everyone know how it turns out.
Hope you enjoy!
Well, it took 60 min, but turned out great.
@@marilyn6068 about to put in frozen beef Roast. Hope it turns out good!
Don't throw that fat away! It's so good for you! Thanks for the very informative video tho!
It is bad for you.
@@orcharddweller1109 LOL You are incorrect.
I cooked a whole fresh chicken the other day & now i have 3 cups of wonderful broth in my freezer
My instant pot does not have a manual button. Do I use the pressure cook button instead for 20 min?
Yes the pressure cook button is the same as the manual button. :)
How long do you cook it if the ground beef is thawed?
I would recommend sauteeing for the best results. If you simply want to cook, I would do 10 minutes on high pressure.
Does this affect the flavor? How do you season it?
I love to add seasoningns when I am breaking it up--like taco seasoning or add to chili, etc. Works great.
I’m guessing add them half way through instead of waiting bc I stick cloves inside my roasts
Can you do the same with a crock pot?
No Aliyah. The crock pot won't get hot enough. It is a much slower cook time and that will mean your meat can develop bacteria. It would be much better to thaw your meat in a bowl of water in the refrigerator than to try to cook from frozen in a slow cooker. Sorry!
Insta pot on sale for 60 at Amazon now
Is meat expected to be dry when using this method? What if you don't add water? Not safe? I tried cooking this way, but it tastes like "steamed meat", which it is right ? It will always have dry texture ? Thx.
It shouldn't be dried out. Instead it should be cooked through and a bit "steamed" break it up and add spices and you are good to go. Just a reminder to keep the meat on a trivet about the water. You need the water, like you said, but you don't want the ground meat in the water.
Can I do it with a big pork roast, I'm just learning to cook 🥰
No, this method will not work to thaw a roast. BUT you can cook a frozen roast using the Instant Pot--which is awsome, because it is not safe to cook frozen roasts in the slow cooker. Here are two recipes that will help (and there are instructions for frozen) amindfullmom.com/instant-pot-pulled-pork/ or amindfullmom.com/instant-pot-pork-tacos/
You can do this with chicken too?
Ground chicken, yes! For frozen chicken breast, thighs, etc, you can cook fully from frozen and I recommend flavoring. Here is my Instant Pot Chicken Breast Recipe: amindfullmom.com/instant-pot-chicken-breasts/
I tried this and it worked GREAT! I have a frozen 4 1/2 lb turkey breast. What would the timing for that be?
So glad it worked well for you Cynthia! Here are my directions for Turkey Breast: amindfullmom.com/instant-pot-turkey-breast/ I cook for 10 minutes per pound for frozen turkey breast--so that would be 45 minutes :) Enjoy!
My mind is blown! Single mom and nurse, this will save my child from having boring dinners! A nurse friend just got this for me. Now three of us have one! ❤️
Its 5 oclock n u rock
Happy to help!
Why the trivet if you’re already adding liquid for the pressure cooker?
This helps to keep the meat from getting waterlogged and allows the fat to drain away.
@@AMindFullMom 😊 thank you.
Can I do it without the rack? Frozen beef into the pot?
No, the beef will get waterlogged and could burn. Sorry!
Personally, I would have only gone about 5 minutes. That way you still have a chance to season the ground beef before fully cooking it. You can not salt meat after its cooked and it taste good. 🤷♀️ This method would work without the rack and adding all of your seasoning before hand though. Depending on what the intended use is. Just my opinion though. I'm just a home cook lol
For certain uses, I can see this would be a good way to go.
What if I don’t have a tribet?
I would highly suggest getting one if you can afford it. It is used for so many things and typically less than $10. However, I have had others tell me they crumble up foil and set the meat on that.
I put warm water in I think it pressurizes faster.
Hi Liza! Warm water would cause it to come to pressure faster, but can drastically change the cooking time and results.
Im here looking to see if it’s possible to cook rice & a frozen bag of p.f. Changs mongolian beef together. I just don’t want to smell up the kitchen
Oh, I am not sure. You could try putting water, rinsed white rice in inner pot. Top with the frozen meal and cook for 3 minutes on high pressure with a natural pressure release.
How many kilograms of frozen meat is that? Sorry. .I live in London and don't understand weight in pounds;-)
It is about .5 kilograms. Hope that helps!
This kills the idea of using the saute' option when this is SOOOOOO much easier. True, takes a bit more time but less clean up 😁
And for frozen beef, it works better
You’re adorable 😊
Why thank you!
works great. i love that it has stainless steal pot inside ua-cam.com/users/postUgkxG-7WiT7ocumjytOpHDFt632PL0pxXRAg and not the one with coating. we used to have a coated pot before, and the coating slowly peels, and i am sure went into the food that we cooked. Absolutely love stainless steel, and will not use a coated product again. This pot has many settings and many buttons, and i need to sit down with a manual to figure out which setting to use. I used the basic functions, and even though i am not technologically skilled, i turned it on and assembled it without any help.Very satisfied with this product overall.
Glad you like it!
I'm here at 6:45 🤦♂️

How about bbq ribs
I LOVE cooking ribs in the Instant Pot. However, if they are frozen, you will have a hard time bending them to fit. Here is my rib recipe: amindfullmom.com/instant-pot-ribs/
here at 4:52pm, yes remove all meat into frozen zip lock bags
Make things so much easier!
No flavor?
Flavor after you cook--you can even saute with the spices to really develop.
Here at 4 57 😂
HAHA!!! We ALL have been there.
Wouldn't the meat taste very bland if you didn't season it while cooking?
This meat is to be used for recipes like chili, tacos, spaghetti, etc that you season after you brown the meat. You can certainly add in seasonings to the meat as it cooks--but it would only flavor the top layer.
Its 450 now
😜 HA!
Many nights at 5 o’clock talking like a baby even though I’m 45 years old?
LOL! We have all been there.
