Omg you're awesome!! I'm here bc/ someone posted about your insta pot recipes from the Minimalist Mom and thank God they did :) I have had a an instant pot close to a year and I was so intimidated by it. I'm looking forward to finally using it!!!
My thoughts exactly. I've been trying to read the manual for a few days but with younge kids being loud and the reading being very wordy this is WAY easier for me.
This is BY FAR, the best instructional video I've EVER seen. Thank you for not telling us your life story before getting to the heart of the video. Also, thank you for being so clear and concise in your BASIC instructions. I was ready to donate my Instant pot to Salvation Army before I saw this video. BTW I have the older model so thanks for mentioning the differences between the old and newer models. You mentioned every important detail on both which was awesome... THANKS AGAIN FOR A GREAT VIDEO!
Thank you so much for this. I knew a lot of what you went over but not all Of it. My wife was the instant pot user in our house, but she recently passed away. I’m trying to learn all of her gadgets. Thank you again!
Growing up in the 60's & 70's, we had an old pressure cooker. My mom would always yell, "Everybody, stand back!" So, I've been a little traumatized by them. Thanks for relieving my fears! I'm a visual learner so your clear demonstration is very much appreciated!
You deserve all those views. I’ve had this plastic and steel contraption taking up space on my counter since last Christmas, with its accessories, and silicone thingamajigs, and recipe books, and I was always thinking I really should take a day off to study how it works, and how to prevent explosions, when all I really needed was a bag of frozen veggies. I’m going to try it now, wish me luck. 😅
I'm crying in relief, I have anxiety issues and just spent a lot of money and was so overwhelmed! Thank you! You made a monster into a managable thing! I am so greatful!
I received one of these from my husband for Christmas, after saying all year how I wanted one. now that have one I am so afraid of the thing. I've read everything it comes with and am still so confused. This video actually really put me at ease. thank you so so much!
@Samantha Alvarado, totally agree. I also wanted one for months and my family gifted me one for Christmas. I have not touched it until this morning. But these vids really help. Good luck to you (and to me as well!)
I'm so relieved to hear other people being confused or struggling with this thing. I really want it to work but my first attempt went badly and now it's just taking up valuable real estate on my counter. Will try again, tho!
I have had my instant pot for nearly a year. Never used it as it seemed so intimidating. Thanks to finding this channel and them making it so easy to learn I was able to make my first pot roast in it. Thank you so much, really appreciate this.
Thanks for this video! My pot has been in the cabinet for months because a friend recommended it, but I wasn’t sure how all the different parts worked, but after watching your video I feel like I’m up for the challenge will now use my instant pot!
This helped me so much! I had an Instant Pot that scared me! Right out of the box (after procrastinating) I gave it to my little sister because without detailed instructions, I had tried it three different times and I got two different burn notices and honestly the pressure sealing and venting scared me but watching you guys I’m going to buy another one so thank you very much!!!
Norma Jean get one. I’m going to as well. She makes it easy and gives me confidence to use it. Head up, shoulders back and say to yourself - I got this! 😉
This video was so helpful. I was using my Instant Pot cooking a pot roast for the first time and I wish I had watched your video first. I am TERRIFIED of Pressure Cooker. My friend had a Instant Pot and raved about it so I figure I would try it. I did not realize the knob was supposed to be on “sealing” when using. I started to hear this hissing sound so I RAN out of my kitchen because I thought it would explode (instead of pulling the plug or cancel button) I ran...fast...lol I actually search for a video and this one popped up. I noticed you said to put the knob on sealing and NOT VENTING, therefore the hissing sound as the steam was escaping! lol, so if scary old me can used the Instant Pot successfully, ANYONE can l. I’m very happy with my Instant Pot and my pot roast was absolutely delicious! Thanks for this video and calming my nerves!
I was scared using mine the first time. I made a family favorite that usually takes an hour in just under 25 minutes. I was unsure if it was doing everything right, then it seemed b like the timer than counts down waz going in slow motion, then it started counting up after beeping. I figured it was done and saw that the instructions say to vent the steam before opening. I barely touched the valve and it hissed at me. I called my boyfriend to come to the kitchen and vent it for me. He thought I was being a big baby, but he also freaked out when it hissed. It was so loud. But it is definitely a time saver. Your story mDe me laugh and reminded me of mine. Lol.
I just want to say thank you. I got my mom the instant pot months ago and she got intimidated to use it. She never told me until now and your video just saved the day. We’re making beef stew with spicy sausage now. Thank you 🙏
I am so crazy, got an instant pot as a gift but was too scared to use it until today. I made sure the kids where out of the house and locked the puppy out of the kitchen. Then tried to make a whole chicken. It didn't explode and made one delicious chicken in 30 minutes. Going make pulled pork next and I don't think I need to evacuate the house for that. Thank you
Excellent instructional video presentation! Very detailed. Shows everything you would want to know. She presents information without irrelevant conversation, saving you a lot of time. SO THANKFUL!!! Mine has been sitting on counter for months. Finally learned how to use it in 15 minutes! Highly recommend. THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU!
Such a great tutorial! I've had my instant pot for two years and I have not used it! Lol I was afraid to use it but hearing you say "you are safe" made me feel like it's okay to use my instant pot 😄 thank you!😊
This video provides very useful info. When my wife bought the Instant Pot, I thought that SHE was going to learn how use it and then teach me, but somehow sorting out the maintenance and learning how to deploy the unit became my task. I had not even heard of Instant Pots or ever used a pressure cooker. I know how to make peanut butter sandwiches, spaghetti, salad and roast chicken breasts and that's pretty much it. (Looking at many of the comments here, I laughed to see that so many other folks had the same trepidations that I had.) You made my job very easy and made me look smarter than I am. Thank you! I have already checked out some of your other content and see some other things to add yo my repertoire.
I posted this on Facebook for all the people who got an Instant Pot on prime day. I love how you teach us. I just wish you had time to do it twice a week lol. Blessings to Kristen!!!
Thank you. I had confusion with the floating valve. I got Lux as my b’day present from my cousin & the valve was different than DUO. However your video clarifies that. Thank you so much for useful information.
I just unpacked mine, have had it almost a year and have been afraid to use it. I started following your channel about a week ago and now have the courage to try it. I did the test today and will try some veggies next just to get me used to using it. Thanks so much for your videos they are really encouraging me to use it :-)
@@belindavanowen1990 it is in the instruction booklet that comes with the instant pot. You add 3 cups of water I believe and then set it and thus is to check the valve is working right and get you used to trying out the pot for the first time :-)
I wouldn't cook veggies in it, except as an ingredient in something else. If you want something easy to get you started, try looking up the recipe for instant pot salsa chicken. You won't regret it
How can I say thank you??? I just received an Instant Pot, or should I say Intimidation Pot, for my birthday. I just stare at it sitting there because the manual is in rocket science language! 😩 My daughter suggested looking on UA-cam and I found you! You made more sense in ten minutes than hours of reading that manual, plus, I’ll get recipes from you! You sure have made my day! I can’t wait to try my new gift! 🙌🏻💕👍🏻
Bought my first Instant Pot, about a month ago. I love that contraption! I use mine all the time. It's just me; so, I make enough food for 2 or 3 meals. I can't believe how fast this thing cooks food. It's unreal.
Thank you. This was helpful. It might have been nice to explain why one chooses quick releases over natural release. As I understand it, for example, you might want a natural release with meat to let the meat rest; quick release will stop the cooking quicker and should be used for veggies.
This was so helpful, and as a visual learner, this was the best video on the internet for instant pot. Thank you so much!! I was so scared but I’m cooking now and feel much better. ❤
THANK YOU SOOO MUCH!!! Just purchased an Instant Pot and used it quickly (and wrongfully) yesterday, and today I couldn’t get it to work again... until I found your video with the simple yet beautiful suggestion to check if the plug was attached all the way in... duh 🙄 Beyond grateful for inspiring and helpful people like you on UA-cam! Much success to you and your 5 other sisters! 😊🙏🏼❤️
I was just given an almost (used once) brand new duo. Unfortunately the lady lost the instructions to the using the instant pot! Your video was exactly what I needed. Thank you so much for the step by step visual. I have subscribed to your channel and look forward to your recipes. I am hoping to use my instant pot to cook rice and oatmeal to start. I am sure it will become my go to appliance. I am very comfortable with pressure cookers because o pressure can some of my vegetables and meat sauce. ❤️🙌
Very good stuff me and my wife just had a baby girl and I had been looking at your videos I do most of the cooking and I have to tell you this is a game changer what used to take me 12 hours to cook I can have in 30 minutes I love it just started watching your videos and I look forward to watching more thank you
I really appreciated this video, thank you for posting! I received an instantpot duo and have been delaying using it because I didnt have time to read the full instructions manual yet.
Thank you so very much for doing this video. It has saved me twice now! I bought my first ever insta pot a few weeks ago now and couldn't figure out how to get the steam catcher on at first. I found your video and it showed me how which was awesome. Then today I was making my very first recipe in it ever and was getting worried that something was wrong because it said on but wasn't counting down the time I put it on for. Then I watched your video for the fifth or more time and saw that was it saying it's getting up to pressure and then sure enough once it was up to pressure it cooked for the 4 minutes and turned out delicious! So thank you so very much
I just located an instant pot here in Thailand, And your video has saved my life. Being English Ihad no clue how to use it, But you made it so simple. Thankyou so much, I 'll go and check on my rice now xx
Thank you. Weirdly enough I found an instant pot in my 86 year old grandfather's bedroom (he likes to order stuff) but now he doesn't ever cook and since I'm here I do all of his meals for him. I seen a recipe and I said I wished I had one and little did I know I do have one! Thanks for the video I can't wait to start using it!
Wow!!!! Thanks a bunch. I was so intimidated by my new instant pot (it's been sitting in it's box for almost 3 months🤦🏾♀️). But your video has given me the confidence to (finally!) begin my instant pot adventures.👍🏾👍🏾👍🏾👍🏾
Thank you Six Sisters for sharing all the knowledge and receipts. I have an IP-Lux( 6 in 1 or older model). One risotto receipt asked to cook with Low Pressure. However, my IP- LUX does not have any high or low pressure button or setting. I usually use Manual button as most IP receipts suggest. Would you please tell me how I get my IP to Low Pressure please? Thank you Teresa
I've had my Instant Pot for two years. To date, I've only used it to cook ribs because I was afraid of it. This is a great video for anyone wanting to learn the basic functions.
We bought an instant a few months ago, found your sight on you tube and have very much enjoyed every meal we have tried…. To many to decide which was best. Looking forward to many more.
I'm late to the game and just got my first Instant Pot! So glad I found your channel!! I wanted to ask, you said you usually put a basket in your IP when cooking veggies. Is there certain baskets made just for the IP or could I use a metal strainer or a silicone basket if it fits? Also, I have the Lux. Are you supposed to remove the gasket to clean? If so,.how? Can you do a video to show us how to care for our IP's?
The duo comes with a stainless steel steam rack with handles I think she probably uses that, they also have a silicone basket and silicone steam tray you can buy separately on their website at least for the duo I haven’t checked for the lux
I remember back 50 years ago when my mother would not allow us kids in the kitchen when she was using the pressure cooker. She was scared it might explode. It never did, but she was not taking any chances. I love my insta-pot and I use it often .
I used an ordinary stove top pressure cooker for 25 years as my children were growing up, only let it boil dry once , 1lb of mince shot through the vent hole and stuck on the ceiling , ‘scary’.
My mom told me that her brother made their mother’s pressure cooker explode. He held the top part. Beans went everywhere 🙈 This was back in the 60s of course lol
Thank you, thank you, thank you for making this video! It has relieved my fears of the instant pot and has confirmed that I read the instructions correctly. My boyfriend and I got an instant pot as a Christmas gift and we’re making pot roast for the first time tonight. Subscribed!
Thanks for your video I’m a beginner and trying to get the courage to use mine. Will watch this several times. Can’t wait to try some of your recipes🙋🏻♀️😀
Thank you SO very much for this video! I received an insta pot for Christmas and was VERY intimated/terrified of burning myself! Just subscribed to see your weekly recipes!
Thank you for this video. My instant pot has been on counter since mother's day, when my daughter gave to me. I read instructions, but was sooo confused. I actually cooked my veggies for lunch today and am ready to try mac n cheese tonight.
If you got a manual with the appliance, it should have suggested cooking times in it. IF NO MANUAL, then go online to INSTANTPOT.com. The manual will be there.
thanks ive had my cooker for a yr and used it some , i learned several new things that is very helpfull it is below freezing here in oklahoma and im cooking beans as we cant get out as we are in our 80 s thanks again have a good day and pass it on betty
This was so helpful, thank you! I was terrified to try mine. After I watched your video I got the confidence to make bean soup last night! In my Instant Pot of course.
I'm new here, when cooking roast, I pressed meat/ stew 60 mins.... do I also need to press pressure cook? The meat/ stew light is on, keep warm light is on, and normal
THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU!!! First time pressure cooker user and this was so helpful. I’ve always been , for a lack of better words, scared to use the pressure cooker function and after your very concise video I’m waiting for my food to finish as we I type this. I’ll update in a bit by replying to my comment.
It came out great! Nice and tender, could of used a bit more seasoning but I’d rather it be tender and underseasoned than seasoned and tough. I did a natural release and it was great. This is a game changer to my meal prep life
That is a great video and you have given the users so much information on using the Instant Pot and I hope it helps the people new to using this appliance.
How did you know to only put the timer on for 1 minute for the vegetables? Was it trial and error or is this something that may be in the instruction book?
This was very helpful. My son and his family gave me an Instapot a year ago. I have been hesitant. I took it out yesterday and plan to use it tonight. Thanks for all the tips.
I just bought an insta pot. I am looking forward to following your videos. I’m really nervous. I need step by step instructions so I’m glad I found your site. Ty
Very informative video! 🏅 Thank you for taking the time to explain the Instant Pot to someone like me who's never owned one. It takes the intimidation factor out of the decision to own one.
Your instruction booklet should have first time cleaning instructions (it just uses water). I can't remember what page as I don't know where my book is. It cleans your pot and gets you used to using it.
@@AlyAyeee Mine was a christmas gift too. Im not into cooking but my family always gets me things like this. Now i have to find somewhere to put it when im not using it. We just used it for the first time and it was good. scary but good
I just found this great video and have already recommended it twice tonight to newbies who have a Lux like I do! I've had mine for 3 1/2 years and it's been my work horse but as you know it is a little different than the Duos and later models. Still works very well, though! Thanks for this great video showing the differences between the Lux and others!!!!
If you know someone who is new to the Instant Pot, make sure to share this video with them! Hugs! Love you guys!

Thank you so much! I got one as a gift and haven't used it much because I didn't understand it. This helps alot!!
You don’t how excited I am to find this video!!! Almost a year and still in the box! THANK YOU❣️
I love your teaching...just got our instant pot!!! Thank you for being so patient!
Hi Kristen, I am new. Thank you for showing me how to use this crazy contraption.
You are so welcome!
Thank you, thank you for the basics on how to use!! Most videos just showed the recipe not how to actually use it
Wow!!!! Thanks a bunch. I was so intimidated by my new instant pot (it's been sitting in it's box for almost 3 months🤦🏾♀️). But your video has given me the confidence to (finally!) begin my instant pot adventures.👍🏾👍🏾👍🏾👍🏾
Got ya beat.....6 month! Lol
@@sheilastarr7240 😂😂😂😂
Thank you!! I was so scared to use my instant pot because I don’t ever really cook. You have helped me so much!❤️
This is the best introductory video that I have seen regarding the Instant Pot. Congrats! I will subscribe and continue to watch.
Awesome! Thank you!
Thank you just got my instant pot this Christmas and was looking to see how mine worked because a lot of video that came up were for old instant pots.
Thank you
Teresa
also interested in how to cook low pressure on the Lux
Lol yet to explode while awkwardly smiling! That earned my like!
Thank you for this! Honestly the book a bit confusing 😳 they should link your video on their booklet!♥️
Hello dear how are you doing ❤️❤️❤️
Agree 100%
The book was unintelligible!
Thank you! My instapot has been sitting in my garage because I was anxious about using it. Now I feel confident to try!
That lid holder is a game changer, I always have a dripping lid that takes up so much space. Thanks.
Hi. Where did you get the magnet covering to purchase?
I've had my Instant Pot for two years. To date, I've only used it to cook ribs because I was afraid of it. This is a great video for anyone wanting to learn the basic functions.
Thanks for watching!
I’ve had an instpot for years and never used it. I just found your channel and I love it 💚💕💚💕
Most helpful video instruction I have seen on the Duo IP, had mine for a year, thanks so much for doing this.
Have you tried bone broth with instant pot?
I used an ordinary stove top pressure cooker for 25 years as my children were growing up, only let it boil dry once , 1lb of mince shot through the vent hole and stuck on the ceiling , ‘scary’.
@@matthewbermudez009 No I have never tried that . How do you do bone broth ?
Laura 55 I use the instant pot, at first put it to high pressure and then when tab pops I reduce it to low pressure for 2 hours. Gelatinous!
My mom told me that her brother made their mother’s pressure cooker explode. He held the top part. Beans went everywhere 🙈
This was back in the 60s of course lol
Thank you, thank you, thank you for making this video! It has relieved my fears of the instant pot and has confirmed that I read the instructions correctly. My boyfriend and I got an instant pot as a Christmas gift and we’re making pot roast for the first time tonight. Subscribed!
After a year of having it do you recommend the instant pot?
Thanks for your video I’m a beginner and trying to get the courage to use mine. Will watch this several times. Can’t wait to try some of your recipes🙋🏻♀️😀
Glad it was helpful!
Same here. So much for college degrees. Lol But manual is worthless.
My sis gifted me one and I was so happy. I’ve been learning some things. Lol. Thanks for this video. The only other thing to learn is the settings lol
Hello dear how are you doing ❤️❤️❤️
A beginner here, you steam your vegetables for one minute, how would I know what time to put in for different things? Thank you!
If you got a manual with the appliance, it should have suggested cooking times in it. IF NO MANUAL, then go online to INSTANTPOT.com. The manual will be there.
Just boil in on a stove man! 😂😉
@@roxolanathor48 steam not boil.
You are the only person who makes such a great video on this pot. Love you!

This was so helpful, thank you! I was terrified to try mine. After I watched your video I got the confidence to make bean soup last night! In my Instant Pot of course.
✋🏼I'm new, where did you get the magnet to cover your pot
I second this question!
Me three I love to know hehe
Search Insta pot magnetic scan on Etsy
This is a game changer to my meal prep life
Where did you buy that magnetic liner? I would love to get one for mine. 💕
My guess would be amazon. I'm also going to try hunt down one as the stainless steel finish tends to get dirty fast from finger prints.

That is a great video and you have given the users so much information on using the Instant Pot and I hope it helps the people new to using this appliance.
I love your videos. Where can I get that beautiful cover?
How did you know to only put the timer on for 1 minute for the vegetables? Was it trial and error or is this something that may be in the instruction book?
My IP came with a chart for various cooking times.
Ty
You will LOVE your instant pot! I'm so glad you watch our videos! Such a pleasure!
Very informative video! 🏅 Thank you for taking the time to explain the Instant Pot to someone like me who's never owned one. It takes the intimidation factor out of the decision to own one.
You are so welcome!
Isolated for covid... you are going to to save me. Thank you.
glad we got one and used to it before ( not that it is complicated) but during quarantine, it literally has been a life and budget saver!!!

This is great! I have a question (I’m a total newbie). How do you know how long to cook your various foods???
Hello dear how are you doing ❤️❤️❤️
Mine came with a chart that shows how long to cook foods. Also the instantpot website has lots of info.

Just received an Instant Pot Duo for my house warming. This video was so helpful! Saved me a lot of reading. Subscribing for more.
Love this. you are awesome. Have had my quick pot for months and never use it. Now I will watch your video for the recipes. Thank you.
Hope you enjoy!!
This has LITERALLY been the most informative video for me, thank you!!!
I just got a Insta pot. I don’t have a clue how to use it. Is there something I need to do before I do use it for the first time?
SINternet Entertainment hahah same here. I got one for Christmas and am overwhelmed sadly
SINternet Entertainment ...yes, read the instructions....cheers🍷🇨🇦
Your instruction booklet should have first time cleaning instructions (it just uses water). I can't remember what page as I don't know where my book is. It cleans your pot and gets you used to using it.
@@AlyAyeee Mine was a christmas gift too. Im not into cooking but my family always gets me things like this. Now i have to find somewhere to put it when im not using it. We just used it for the first time and it was good. scary but good
@@wallyklou8848 I did and we have used it. I wish it would have came with some good recipes.
Kristen, you totally made the whole process of learning the basics of the Lux a lot less scary.
Thanks for this wonderful video. I just purchased an Instant Pot and found this helpful to watch
