- Food Grade Gear Grease: amzn.to/33eoiOa
This is the Epicurian Model, but most KitchenAid Mixers are the same in design and many parts are interchangeable. I troubleshoot 2 problems in this video. 1 a rocking mixer and a slipping mixer, this is also the same problem when a mixer won't spin at all. - Навчання та стиль
Thank you very much! I followed you step-by-step and was able to repair my mixer. I can't believe it! I purchased one gear, retention pliers, and the grease. We used the mixer this morning on a big batch of dog food, and voila!
This is so Helpful, like tears down my cheek helpful that I'm able to fix my 80 year old father's mixer because of you and because of this! Thank you thank you thank you!!
Thank you, thank you, THANK YOU! My rocking mixer is now stable as can be, and it was so easy that the hardest part was removing and replacing the screws. I can't thank you enough!
Thank you for this post! I'm looking forward to figuring out what exactly is needed to repair ours.
First thing I noticed was that motor it's older style so yah about 13yrs or so, Now a day's the new food grade grease is a creamy white color. It's good to clean out all the old metal shavings so the new gears don't get damaged from them. Also remember to check the little beads in the bearings to make sure they are all staying in place. Keep up the good work!
this video helped me! you briefly touched on rocking of the head and that's exactly what I needed help on. Thank you so much!!! It took me ten minutes to fix what kitchenAid said could take 4-6 weeks, crazy bastards!
Just fixed my friends machine (slightly different model as yours). Was only running on lowest setting. Took it apart, removed board, and cleaned the switch and circuits with electrical contact cleaner (actually Mass Air Flow Sensor cleaner from auto supply-essentially the same stuff). Very straightforward machine to work on.
That is the problem we are having. It stays on low gear. We will give it a try
Thank you for this video! My mom's mixer was catching and hers has the exact same problem. Slightly different model. Now to order the part and get it running again!
Excellent video got our kitchen aid working that we had given to us because it was broken thanks
Wow ! This is great news and the instructional video is perfect. Now I need to get that Kitchen Aid grease !
Great video. Clear, concise. Thank you
hi peter lenn
Fabulous direction my husband and I fixer the wobbly head on our mixer. Thank you so much for posting this ☺️
Excellent and practical information.
I wonder if you should use "LockTite" on the screw threads before tightening it to prevent the screw from coming loose again . . . (when fixing the rocking problem)
Yes, I got it working, but about 6 months later the planetary won't move at all. We used this with a wheat grinder attachment and I've since learned that it wears out the parts very quickly with the extra load you're placing on it. I'm going to fix it again, but I must admit I'm losing weight while my wife isn't baking! Ha ha.
I have a mixer with exactly the same problem. I ended up with another larger model since my efforts to fix it were exactly the same as yours. The new one just started acting up I guessed that it was an issue with the plastic housing not standing up to the work of needing whole wheat bread dough. I just ordered a metal gear housing since hope springs.. I would love to know if you got this one working. Thanks for posting this fine video elucidating the mysterious world of kitchenaid.
Where can I buy de broken part?I leave in Portugal. Tks for de video. Its really helpful!!
Good video for self-fixing! What is the link for the parts you had ordered for fixing?
What lubricant do you recommend for the gearbox?
While using my KB26G1XWWW [6 qt. stand mixer] it "sounded different" in a subtle way. I felt the top/back and it was very warm. I was done mixing my batter, so I turned it off and white, powdery (smoke??) was coming out from around the top section of the beater area. I immediately unplugged it. What could it be? I'm trying to find a repair place near 14092. Please advise.
Was there a follow up video? I was hoping to see how you removed the planetary gear. If there is no additional video does the gear just lift out?
I don't see a follow up video I was wondering the same things.
Was looking forward to the "Fix" video...I need to replace the planetary assembly that the lower attachments mount to on a 5 qt professional. It just falls off due to stripped teeth (very fine teeth on the shaft). Mixer was acquired from a hotel where an inexperienced chef tried to whip 2 pounds of COLD butter. Chef bought a new mixer and I took this one. Now trying to put it back into service for home use. Curious to see what technique is used to remove the gears from the shaft. Also the order of dis-assembly and re-assembly.
change the worm gear; its plastic... I've done it a few times... not too difficult but wait until after you are finished to have a beer.
Also looking for the repair video but can’t seem to locate it.
I had to replace the warm gear in my kitchen aid stand mixer. Your video was very helpful. When I put it back together and turned it on it hummed spit out white powder then nothing. Can you tell me how to fix it?
The old grease has old pieces of metal in it. It will basically sand down everything. You need to clean everything and add new grease.
Thank you for the video of repairing kitchen aids. The problem I have is my planetary piece wont stay up in the proper spot how do i fix this?
I have this model. Any advice for a speed lever that is really hard to move back and forth. It gets stuck at various settings and is hard to turn off.
I have a model KP26M1XLC. i Opened my kitchenaid and found that that the worm gear needs replacement. How do I know the right part to purchase? I can't find my manual. I also want to know the type of retaining plier is recommended. thanks
In the video you mentioned putting the parts in the link below. I don't see them. Also, after I replaced the grease, for the first minute it ran great and then started making a knocking noise. Any ideas??
EasyCountryGardens
We’ve had ours for over 30 years and it’s been great...just now it needs some attention.
This worked great for redoing the shower/bathtub of my kid's bathroom. ua-cam.com/users/postUgkxfiuHoZJo3bgdVPFRxQ-iqPpfbEHl2cYt I didn't like the guide, so I took it off. I just used a fine tipped sharpie on the tile and followed that line. It does make a wet mess, and once I started looking like I wet myself I started wearing a towel and apron while cutting. The blade it came with worked great until we wore it out. It was better than the replacement one we bought. I tried looking for just their blade, but failed. Not really for larger tiles unless you stack stuff on either side to support the tiles. Anyway, would definitley buy again.
how do you replace the cover cap in the front of the mixer. It came loose and will not stay in place. professional 5 plus model.
Where can i find Part 2? The Fix.
my KA was working fine and then just stopped I don't hear the motor or anything but I did get it to start for a minute when I hit it with my bare hands would this still be the worm gear? Wouldn't I still hear the motor?
Hello everyone, I hope you can help me! I love my mixer but the locking mechanism doesn’t work. I have to keep it in the lock position with my hand when it is in use or else
It will literally jump right off the counter! It really slows me down because I can’t leave it do do anything else.
I repaired my mixer with no problem. my machine had a metal gear box and and is about 5 years old. yours is 13 years old, that's not bad for a mixer, cars don't last that long. most problems I found are from overloading the machine. use the lower speeds for bread, I don't go any higher than speed 2 for bread. I have a 300 watt kitchen aid that is over 30 years old and its still mixing.
Cars get used more often than once or twice a week.
Most people don't use mixers that much. I use mine a lot because I make bread but most people don't use their mixers that often.
I have the kitchen aid professional 5 it has two black plastic screws on the side and a back plastic cover, It older than the one your working on, do you have any tips on how to remove motor cover.
Do NOT remove those. They house the motor bushings? and you'll mess it up. You can do what you need to do without removing those.
Can you help me? I cant find a fix anywhere. There is a stainless steel band above the beater shaft of a tilt lift Artisan where you attach dough hook, whisk etc. It fell off this morning. I have cleaned it, it is not damaged, but it doesnt seem to clip back on. Is there a technique? It appears to be cosmetic, but would also stop any mixture getting into small apertures beneath motor head. The stainless steel collar i am writing about is not a mentioned part in the manual, but it is the only collar below the motor head. I have contacted after sales service....they say they cant advise for liability reasons!
Do you have any solution that it makes squeaky noise and how to fix it?
Do u have any advice on a kitchen aid mixer that doesn't turn on at all?
Hello!!
My mixer is leaking oil, how It´s can be fixed?
best wishes
Where is your video for fixing the rocking?
Anyone know if opening up the mixer and trying to fix, voids the warranty?
Most likely.
very good video however that is NOT my problem. My problem is nothing happens with the speeds. If I go forward to about 6 and then go back sometimes that will help but should I have to do this? Also, are we supposed to be cleaning the inside on a regular basis?
I hope you cleaned and replaced all the old metal shaving filled grease out of there.
Any idea why my stand mixer is buzzing when off? I just changed the panel in the back
I am running into the lift handle locking up out of nowhere. I had set the mixer up and tested the handle and then I double checked it and its very very difficult to move but the bowl arm still jiggles and looking in from the bottom it appears that the actually handle is where its locking up any ideas?
Do not use "large Phillips" you will destroy the screw's head. Use Robertson "square" screwdriver.
Do you have a video on repairing a Kitchenaid that has potentially shorted out. I turned my standing mixer on and there was a big spark. I'm hoping I can repair it easily. I've had it for over 30 years and I love using it. I hope you can help me learn how to repair it back to it's glory days!
More than likely you'll need the controller board which can be found on this site.

Just from a quick glance, you should have cleaned off ALL of the grease and repacked it with new grease. Not some of it, but all of it so that there is not cross contamination of grease.
I need help with removing a beater that's stuck. I've used a hot cloth several times, but it didn't release the beater.

I have a kitchen aid mixer that will just stop running after
it get hot. If you let it cool down it will start back. Can some one help me. Thanks Gary
Had our 50 year old K5A refurbed several years ago, but last month the motor control board burned out- and no replacement parts available. So it’s been relegated to “boat anchor” status.
I'm guessing by the lack of a followup video that you were unable to fix this.
Do you have any solution for stuck dough Hook?
The solution depends on where you stuck the dough hook.
It's a good idea to edit out the long and boring bits like unscrewing screws
Yea trick caption... it is not a troubleshooting and repair it is merely a guide to replace a gear
Hi, what's the part number please?
I see a lot people fixing this mixer. Is it a piece of junk? $500.00 is a lot of money for something that brakes down a lot. Looking for some help on a d decision for one
WHERE'S THE 2ND VIDEO YOU WERE GOING TO DO?????
Did you find this part? Whirlpool WP9 703337, WP9703337, or just 9703337. It is called beveled center gear.
My mixer become hot when I touched the head after maybe 2 or 3 min in mixing. Kindly advise how to fix the problem.
how can I remove my stuck KitchenAid dough hook
Where did you stick your dough hook?
Try this part number: Whirlpool WP9 703337, WP9703337, or just 9703337. It is called beveled center gear.
My Kitchen aid mixer Stops while in use, Add if I move it to a stronger setting it stops
Can anybody help
It needs new gears, the from gear
one more comment. you can't compare the Hobart N50 with a kitchen aid 600 watt mixer. the kitchen aid cost under 400 dollars and the Hobart cost from about 1900 and up dollars. the n50 are made for heavy duty restaurant use.
How to fix overheating
Check the brushes!
Do you know where the brushes are on this model?
Yo quiero una the cuanto the me cuesta the y quest
Although I am very great full for this tutorial videos. I have to say that this product does not leave to the fame and name product. I just got one of this kitchen aid for my wife it was purchased several days ago look at the the post date today is 4/20/2020 she used it this morning around 9:30am the dam thing started making grinding noises and laboring noises, overheated and stopped working well over $300 dollars for this thing what a waste.
My stepmom has the black version of this
All of that contaminated grease needs to be cleaned out and new grease added. The new gears will not last long otherwise. Thanks
Most repair videos are great learning tools, but why do we have to waste time watching the instructors remove each screw one by one, or replace each of them one at a time?
Because believe it or not when they skip parts like that there are always some people that comment, "Wait! How'd you get that off?, or Where is the screw?, or do you need to remove this screw also?"Just be glad that you are not one of those people and fast forward.
What's up with all the shit inside the unit? Looks like sawdust. Are the gears made out of wood?
I bet he makes Jack Tripper's "saw dust cake". :):):)
This is a 9-minute tutorial on how to use a screwdriver.
kitchenaid 300 trip my gfci everytime i turn on
need help. my kitchenaid 300 does trip the gfci outlet every time i turned on
try it in a different location. it sounds like your outlet or the circuit is overloaded.
Chris C . thanks. did try that already. still keep tripping my braker box.
Then it sounds like an electrical short or fault within the mixer. I would stop using it until you get it sorted.
Worm gear
The new mixers are garbage. Plastic parts. They don't make they like they used to.
tnx
