you haven't watched enough Beta/Demo runs then. Gunlance ALWAYS has very fast clear times in MH Demos, because Shells have high damage during low rank but tend to lack damage scaling in the lategame. Wilds Gunlance can scale Shells with Raw though, so maybe that will change, but also Iceborne Gunlance easily competed with Longsword for clear times because that weapon had great Endgame damage by the final patch, so you also haven't watched enough Iceborne runs either
@@ironhelix45 Gunlance is top tier in iceborne , whitout iceman. With Iceman she becomes ridiculously strong, out of the ordinary, killing Alatreon in less than 60 seconds.

@@imaGiraffeMH Swagaxe mechanics are all there but the damage is severely under tuned. Even the optimal SA route for Rey Dau TA is just falling rock hunting xD
@ i know😞 ive been running SA the whole day today and had triple the resets than this run right here before a decent one. My options right now are going for TA WIKI no rocks and showcase the weapon of its entirety, or join the fallen rock gang and just show like 3 minutes worth of fighting. Leaning more towards the latter to gain attention and then post the skirmishes later
@@imaGiraffeMH Its a tough time for SA mains out here. Hope they give it what it needs for the full release: more damage. Especially sad considering the main way of using the weapon is be as hyper offensive as possible. The entirety of ZSD does less damage than TCS for much more time commitment and commitment in general.

for me I just press direction pad "up" to call it. I thought thats the default no? Im not aware theres another way to call seikrat sorry. I hope the run can help you with ur GL journey good luck!
In my personal opinion, toggle focus mode with high sensitivity is the way. I really don’t see any reason not to have it on. Personally I have to drop the RB to sheathe muscle memory though and use X instead (or R1 and square). For real though, there’s no real reason not to always aim with melee weapons in this game. In my opinion of course.
@@Bloxor21 i actually havent tried out toggle mode! I saw it in a lance run and like you said i havent thought of a downside to leave it on. Im used to using square to sheath anyways.
@ yeah, that would be the only reason that comes to mind. More often than not I’d do the R1 move instead of sheathing cause I’m so used to it 😂. Other that that it helps a ton not having to think about it. I believe you’re not even slower than normal with focus mode on.
So are you firing a shell then using wyrmstake full blast to reposition? I saw matcha doing what I thought was him firing a shell and then hopping but maybe he was doing the same tech as you.

@@GMurph2336You can still do full burst. This move just leads into a combo that does way more damage, especially for the low rank gear that’s in the beta
I imagine it's like a six chambered revolver Shotgun. They are Shells after all, so maybe there is storage for them within the Gunlance, and Reloads are simply ejecting the empty casings to chamber new Shells
@@HybridizedGaming i think its just the animation wasnt updated? Might be a beta problem if you watch other speedruns where they use tranq bombs before trap youll see the same thing
@@jennashinx6939 if i recalled correctly you can input forward triangle after a regular shell to do the moving sweep. Not 100% sure though might have to double check tmw

GL has an amazing repositioning tool with Moving Sweep now. Since the new FB combo after moving sweep locks you into a Fullburst + Wyrmstake animation, you should really be using moving sweep to move to Rey Dau's blindspot (under his crotch) I always hold L2 during Moving sweep, because you cannot Moving sweep backwards. But with L2 focus mode your hunter will always face forward. I keep my R analog stick camera facing the monster at all times. At 1:13 you see me recenter my camera facing Rey Dau's legs, and then all I have to do after is to hold L2 to target where I'm hitting
I know you're asking how it felt for the player of this content, but as a veteran of the game, this is by far the fastest MH has ever been in terms of putting combo routes together. The GL has gotten a significant mobility boost as you can see from this gameplay. Everything feels perfectly 'weighty' and not arcade-like as MH: Rise. This feels like an actual MH refresh. Also, the seemless attacks from monsters is a super welcoming change, it is slightly less telegraphed. Overall. The game seems to be in the direction of a morr 'skillful' approach.
@@mSierraEngineer I agree with this! the wyrmstake has such an oomph to it its really satisfying to listen to it as it ticks. The only thing that I dislike is that they removed pivot hopping from GL :( . Gunlance mobility is crazy when youre close to the monster, but it struggles when Rey Dau has you at range pocking you down with lighting bolts
@ i triple carted on stage at Gamescom playing HH vs rey dau. And this video is the result of a ton of resets because I got bodied. Its a really nice challenge even for veteran hunters such as ourselves. I worry for the newcomers though this game is brutal

Monster health in betas is always lower than normal, and player damage is usually a little bloated. I’m sure Rey Dua will be tougher in full game

Also my camera sensitivity is tuned to 14. Since turn speed is directly affected by camera speed
