Yeah gunlance is a whole lot of fun. DPS may be somewhat lackluster compared to GS and charge blade or whatever but it kind of makes up for it by having the second strongest shield of all the weapons.
@@afungai1649bro the shield is useless, unlike lance which has a counter and power guard, gunlance has absolutely no synergy with its shield. You gotta dodge and pretend like it's not there
@@Mik-kv8xx Well the shield still negates a ton of damage and your hops are pretty weak even with perks, so honestly you might as well use it from time to time because there’s some attacks you simply can’t hop out of.
@@afungai1649 nope they're not weak. Hops only have 3 frames less than a normal roll (at 60fps). And at evade window 5 you get like over a third of a second of s. You even saw the guy in the vid dodging tremors with the hops. With that being said: Shield: Take chip damage, use stamina, get stuck in a blocking animation Dodge: Use stamina BUT you don't take any damage and you get to reposition so you can aim your next attack. Honesty the truth is, if you're in a situation where you NEED to use your shield then you're doing something wrong.
When you fully boost the defense and guard, guard up. Combine with challenger mantle. It is quite a helpful thing for your teammate. But solo. You have to sacrifice some time to grind
One of those videoes where you think "hey thats cool, let me just hop into a gunlance run into furious Rajang and do the same thing" and proceed to chug mega potions every 10 seconds
Idk man, the thought of "let me just do this real quick" did not ONCE cross my mind while watching. This run looks like the result of hundreds of hours of pain. lol
The back hop really hard to get used to if you never touch GL or lance, its actually what holding me back the most. Im very interested in normal full burst style but i like it better more in GU since the monsters are slower there, means easier to full burstt compared to mhw.
that was INSANE i love how you basically didnt block anything and just dodged through it thats so cool and i never would have thought to see somebody playing this way and also the way you backwards dodge leaped to move faster was a 10,000 IQ move
I play gunlance too and backhop + evade extender is definitely a must have for gunlance. No need to sheath your weapon, saves a lot of time, and you attack faster
Unlike lance in world that added parry and stuff. Gunlance have no skill that bene3fit the shield fighting style. I remember gunlance is the heaviest and the strongest defend weapon, suprised that world and iceborne don't add new feature for the shields, making them quite useless in GL
@@I_like_modeling_Monsters922 The shield is actually very useful. It's important to remember that this is a speedrun by someone with thousands hours in the game that likely took many attempts. A less experienced player (the vast majority) or one that doesn't know all of the monster's moves by heart would have trouble dodging that consistently and can make great use of the shield. I main gunlance and it's surprising how much you can get away with without needing to dodge at all.
As someone who mained gunlance since MHFU, I am inspired but at the same time frustrated that I have never mastered the weapon to this level. In fact, Rajang was the monster that made me switch my main from Gunlance to Sword and Shield.
I had to try 3 times in a row to get this dude done with my Icewing & ValHazaak gear. That was a masterpiece of choregraphy, executed almost perfectly for almost 4 minutes straight, now I want to try and do so too with greatsword! This game is so cool I'm so glad i discovered it in 2024 and can't wait to kill Alatreon and Fatalis!
Insane. Playing gunlance in IB sometimes feels like trying to swim through molasses, but little stuff like the turnaround backhop getting more distance than the forward dodge is something I can genuinely try to apply in day to day play. Super neat video.
Just started playing GL a few days ago, this is truly inspiring. Coming from a game like lost ark where boss pattern knowledge and general boss quirks and habits are everything. I respect what I see. I see a very clear understanding of where a boss will be during any given animation. I'd love for you to give a break down of some patterns or combos. Maybe tips on more niche topics like ammo efficiency
Bro make the Gunlance look like its actually dual daggers. So impressive, watching this kind of video makes me feel like i freakin suck at this game xD
As a GL Main for over 10 years I approve. Just beatifully played. After watching this I believe Sunbreaks furios is really harder. The Wirebugs are making a difference in the ability to evade faster movements. Where in Iceborne everything is about positioning so it is hard to call but in Sunbreak I would say His Moveset is in general stronger
Your run was very impressive BUT the music 😏😎 oh yeah Can you detail your deco loadout? I wanna use it with a different setup (some points of Guard cause i'm not a speedrunner, just try'na make a solid build) ?
Hey, thanks! Here's a balanced setup which I've always prefer to use myself too. Guard 5 FTW! (Loadout shown at the end of the vid as usual) - ua-cam.com/video/6mcTvIhah_w/v-deo.html
I really want to learn how to side step without performing any attack prior, when I tried to hop to my side, it becomes me facing towards the side then hop forward, or I would have to perform an attack before I can side step. Can anyone please teach me D:
Hey, if you're on a controller, you can hold left trigger to pull out your slinger, but it also locks/focuses your camera, which allows you to hop left or right. You notice there's a delay before you're allowed to hop because of the animation of your character pulling out the slinger. If you guard before you hold left trigger, you'll immediately bypass that animation! So the inputs should be GUARD -> very quickly FOCUS -> hold directional and hop. Hope this helps.
@@iyze8792actually it's much simpler than that. when you hold Left Trigger while Guarding, you don't pull out your slinger at all but instead your enter a guarding stance that is held relative to the camera and you can basically strafe either right or left while doing this. You can try it, simply hold LT while Guarding then try going left or right, you're character is still guarding and will still move on the given direction but now it's always facing the against the camera. Absolutely fantastic to watch! This is amazing, the gameplay, the music, the S T Y L E. Just great job my guy!
The part around 1:00 was clean af
Monster hunter is such a great game, so satisfying when you learn the monster and your weapon, with every weapon viable and with unique playstyle
Bruh.
That was actually an awesome run. No tricks, no setups based on patterns.
Just good
That was super clean. Makes me want to play mhw again.
this is the most smooth hunt Ive ever seen in this game. period.
The timing of Pulp Fuction kicking in and the Rajang raging is perfect!
the song is "Miserlou" by Dick Dale, but it is the theme of pulp fiction
That might be the cleanest gameplay that I've seen on this weapon

This must be how bullfighters feel dancing around a raging beast. Amazing video 🥳🥳🥳
Eyyy a Normal shelling Speedrun! Love to see that, good run!
I stumbled across this by accident and my word I'm glad I did.
Breathtaking run against the angry monkey
I haven’t played for very long and my chosen weapon is gunlance, and seeing that poke quick reload strat changes everything
prob my fav speedrun i've watched so far

Absolute blast of a run. Very mesmerising to watch you play GL as a fellow main GL too.

Nice. Makes me want to play MHW again.
The facing the cam and back-stepping to reposition is crazy experience showing. This was a joy to watch 😮
the swagger of this guy as he pummels the rajang is insane
Rajang out of nowhere with like 10 pipes in his mouth.
Really nice and satisfying, not boring like hundreds of speed run with OP build and palico support
the build in the video is as end-game OP as it gets lol
Im CB players but this is my favorite Rajang speedrun, so fun !😂
The casual hops to avoid some of that crazy shit is disrespectful 😂

Those hops are insane, crazy clean run
This is so smooth af
The level of familiarity with Rajang's moves here is insane
At last a great Gunlancer without using cheap bomb tricks
bro cha cha slided the super saiyan monkey

Very cool run, no wasted movements👍👍👍😏
That was beautiful
horrifying weapon. gotta start maining it again
This weapon is amazing to watch, but slow on my hands. Its nice to see this run
Hop-Hop-Boom playstyle! Beautiful!
This was an elaborate and beautiful dance!))
Good run and good choice of music.
Suddenly I want to use gunlance again
beautiful run .. thank you for sharing this !
Very clean !! Well done
omg you made the gunlance look so fun

My guys got that schmovement
Wow, way faster than the lance :S they did the lance dirty in World
Nice run Jore
Dat doges ... insane dude.
One of the TA runs that had a female character not use that annoying squeaky voice 16, bravo.

Surgical precision.
Awesome play. I can't play World gunlance anymore after playing it in Rise. Feels like it's missing so much.
Insane game play
Peak Gunlance
That was a Blast.
Dude played The monkey like a fiddle
Pure art! Amazing!
Now that’s godly
Jeeeezus
People in general : Charge blade is too hard, it need so much skill
This video : Hold my beer, THAT KIND OF WEAPON REQUIRES SKILL !
your confusing skill with confusing combos 😂 charge blade isnt that bad its just hard to learn
bro made the fight look like a ssbm matchup
Very cool!
i miss mhw.
Smoooooooooth
everything about this run is so fucking cool
Had me convinced you had evade extender 3.
amazing
First time I feel bad for the bastard
WTF? I did not know that gunlance can be play like that
Haha i remember this one , groo000o0o0o0ovy baby
100 hrs straight on GS, watched this vid, switched to GL
that was soo cooool
I hope one day to have a fraction of your power
If only i had your talent
