I thought that I was the only one that felt her absence from the moment I heard she was gone. I couldn't believe what I was experiencing. I had lost loved ones before she died, but with the death of none of them had I felt an open gap in the human race, where they once stood, with any of them, and I loved them dearly. Though that feeling of loss has healed, back then it lasted painfully long. I often wonder, how things would be in this world had she survived. RIP.

My grandfather died just hours after Diana did. I remember staying up all night watching the news coverage as it became more and more grim. I remember praying to God that the world couldn't lose a princess and the man who was my childhood hero all in one night. When it happened, not to mention Mother Teresa's passing later on, I was crushed. I found the world much darker and more cruel than ever before. 23 years later, I still remember running out of my grandparents house, standing on the front patio and looking up to a clear, night sky and seeing the Great Hunter, Orion, and believing it would at least be the one constant in my life. She was a beautiful, flawed woman who forced the monarchy to acknowledge their own emotional limitations. I'm glad there wasn't an open casket as I want to remember her for the dazzling royal figure she was and is still largely measured by.

The grace that you give this flawed human woman Diana, is the same grace that Duchess Meghan deserves. Both of these woman were against all of the hypocrisy of that dysfunctional royal establishment. They both decided to choose to show love and emotion. The love Diana had for her two boys, is equivalent to the love that Prince Harry and Duchess Meghan have for their two precious little Royal babes.

Diana was a true treasure, one never appreciated by the royal family ! That poor LADY even before the wedding that Charles was not really in love with her and had feelings for Camilla. She never had a fairytale married life and was more or less there to produce an heir and a spare! Of course she had a hard time dealing with that and on top of that her royal duties? That woman came out of that situation with more grace than anyone else could have, and the ROYALS, wound up looking pretty and completely without respect! She really loved her boys and showed it publically when you really weren't supposed to display so much emotion. Royals don't have any ,you know, ( emotions ) . Diana changed so many things in the royal family, and I think they started to act in a more kindly, humane fashion. I know she would have been so proud of her son's, especially Harry for not taking any crap when everyone gave his wife a hard time and decided to leave to protect her, their kids and himself. I'm sorry for this rant but I really feel for that great LADY, and how well she overcame her situation. The public loved her and I think the royals learned from her.

Diana and her mystique have almost approached sainthood status and we know with her history of lovers she wasn't a saint. What Diana w a s was a lady with a huge capacity for love and she embraced the world. While her love was rejected by Charles, many others in (especially) third world countries basked in the warm glow of it. The world could use many more who know how to love and use their money, status and personality to help the poor, the outcasts and needy of the world.

I'm from America. However, I remember as a 9 year old boy the reaction of my mother very well. We were at home and she began to cry as we were watching television. As she began to cry, I asked her, " Why are you crying ? ".
My mother responded, " Because she did so much good in the world. "
To this day, I have never seen my mother cry again. :(

Medical mistreatment. Crash at 00:23. At 00:32, 9 minutes after the crash, the Sapeurs Pompiers - the Paris Fire Service - took mecial control of the scene until 00:40, when the SAMU ambulance took over. Thats 17 minuttes. The Sapeur Pompiers were told to wait for the SAMU ambulance!! Its not that the the Sapeur Pompiers didnt have their own doctors, but get this: Dr Fuilla and Dr Le Hot from the Sapeur Pompiers fireservice - first arrived at the scene at 00:43, three minutes AFTER the SAMU ambulance had arrived, with Dr. Jean Marc Martino and Dr. Arnoud Derossi on board. What is going on??!! Why didnt the french fire service have Dr. Le Hot and Dr. Fuilla on board when they arrived at 00:32? There is only one rational explanation to this: Dr. Jean Marc Martino, Princess Diana´s socalled medical doctor - who wasnt a qualified physician on the 31st of agust 1997 - he was still a medical student until late september - and Dr. Arnoud Derossi were operating as either MI6 agents or french DGSE agents on the night. They put a medical student in charge of Princess Diana´s medical treatemt - now the medical "mistreatment", all comes down to medical inexperince. And get this: The ambulance from the Neckler Hospital with Dr.Jean Marc Martino on board was just 2.3 kilometers from the Alma Tunnel - but it took 12 minutes to travel the distance to the Alma Tunnel. Thats an avarage speed of 11.5 kph (7mph). Why this delay ? Because unfortunaly Princess Diana had survived. One of the strategies was to delay medical treatment. They didnt treat Princess Diana, they mistreated her.

She was not “rushed” anywhere. You are distorting history. The French ambulance attempted to stabilize her at the scene, according to French tradition. They were roundly criticized for NOT rushing her to a near by hospital where she might have been saved.

@thechariotcard. The news in the U. S. Said the exact same thing as you posted. I remember it well because I stayed up all night long and watched live news coverage of her death. My friend and I were on the phone in shock. We both loved Diana so much. It was just unreal. I even remember the false report that she only had a broken arm and walked away from crash, then less than five minutes later came the news she had died. There was so much confusion that night in U. S. from media.

@lettuce leaf: I wouldn't call her a horrible person. She suffered from mental illness. Her suicide attempt while pregnant with William was a cry for help. This is just speculation as I'm not a doctor. I believe there's a good possibility she suffered from bipolar disorder. I see some parallels to my bipolar disorder in comparison to her. I'm medicated so I don't have a lot of drama in my life like I did when I was younger. I've also chilled out significantly with age.
Back when Diana was still alive, mental illness was a taboo subject matter. Many strides have taken place in the last 25 years. There's still a stigma, but I don't think it's as bad as it was then. I really suffered enormously when I was in my 20's and 30's.

@@donnageorge2761 It's a wonder you didn't turn out like the woman in 'The 3 Faces of Eve', who was made to kiss her dead grandmother in the casket. She developed multiple personalities.
My brother and I lost our parents to drowning when I was 14 and he was 16. My mother was found within 30 minutes and it took 3 days to find my Daddy. Needless to say, Daddy's casket was closed, but my Mother's was open. I remember sitting across the room, in the funeral home, surrounded by family and was afraid to look at her, but I had an Aunt who was insistent. The funeral director told her to let me do it my way.
I finally got the nerve to slowly walk over and look at her, but her hair was darker and they didn't cover a bruise and scratch on her hand. It was a horrible experience. There have been instances when an elderly family member had been sick for a long time, lost tons of weight, etc., and were made to look so much better, which helped, but I don't want to be looked at.
