    • @nevereverstopsinging
      @nevereverstopsinging 3 роки тому +8

      Is unrealistic always unrealistic tho or just the limits of the imagination of those who can’t fathom the same possibility for themselves? I think there is value in outside perspective but most people will never know what is possible because they can’t even conceive it themselves

    • @SanjaySkar
      @SanjaySkar 3 роки тому +8

      @@nevereverstopsinging I guess I understand your question and this is my answer. And it can be different for someone else.
      It's not about, not able to fathom your own limits but for example, I would try to be a perfectionist in most of the projects (according to my idea for the result I wanna achieve) and that could affect other things in life. Most of the time it is as simple as getting too excited about something and spending all the time and energy for it (which is not a good thing mostly). Even if the 'conversations/outside perspective' isn't there, I will figure it out by myself whether something is a "good choice" (let's change the term "unrealistic" here as it could cause confusion) or not but it would take more time. A trustworthy healthy outside perspective is always useful to keep things in track. And in my case, my friends don't make judgment about my plans but they would ask me questions which will in turn make me wanna recheck my to-do list. It had saved me from beating me up/ letting myself down.
      After all, healthy conversations always bring some good ideas on the table. Hope you understood my perspective. :)

    Nathaniel, Your videos are so captivating, I don't think I've ever just wanted to focus on a video more than yours, so thank you for that. You really have brought a bit more clarity to my life, and I only started watching your videos a couple of weeks ago. I just want to say that this video hit different. I'm currently in re-evaluating my habits, priorities, and organization. It's something I do every year, but every 4 years or so, it feels different. Right now is one of those inflection points for me, and your videos have been powering some changes that I am implementing. So, thank you... like..... a lot.... your perspective and eloquence has really elevated my mind and makes me more determined to push myself to where I need to be. :)

    Planning and all is good, but I really fail in the execution part.

      YES. I have the same. Finding the discipline to stick to my planning is the worst. It takes up a lot of energy as I keep fighting to get myself to do stuff. But at the end of the day this leaves me with no energy and no work was done. I am really desparately trying to find a way to break this cycle but it's incredibly hard. It has always been a problem but it definitely got worse with covid...

      @@roosb.967 I have it the same way, and it truly makes me fail at things I know how to do. I have read a lot of discussion revolving around this, and some I understand and relate to, especially when it has to do with coming to sit down and start, and after doing a minute and a half of something you feel tired and you get up and try to do something else even though nothing was done. Some part of it has to do with sitting and once we start, we start thinking of the other things we should do and so we stop doing what we are supposed to do and then the whole cycle breaks and the effort to get back into it is tremendous and tiring. And obviously much more things but that’s one of them.

      @@roosb.967 I can relate so much its painful. Here is what I did that has helped me more than any single thing. Start by just writing things down. Get a standard spiral bound notebook (I like the quad ruled) and on the first page make a calendar for the month you are in. The only thing you have to do to be successful in this expiriment is write one line about each day. it could be what you did, how you felt. The idea is to stick with it. If you only open the notebook for 10 seconds to write your sentence fine, you showed up. And even if you miss several days go back and fill in the days you missed you can usually remember about a week. Whatever you do keep that calendar filled in. Then do whatever you want on the other pages write down lists even if you don't have an organized way to keep track of them. Write long form journal entries even if you only do it once a month. Draw stick figures if it floats your boat. As you do this for months on end, patterns will begin to emerge that are completely unique to you. When this happens you can slowly start to systematize that practice. Like Nathaniel said you just have to externalize it before you have any concept of how to utilize it. I've done this for almost a year now and my notebook is my lifeline and I feel totally lost without it.

    Just to say, on top of watching your videos for why you created them, I also rewatch all your videos like this all the time, specifically to escape the chaotic American reality that I am living, in which many around me are in support of a civil war starting. Your videos really help me calm down and relax and work towards moving away to a healthier atmosphere.

    I love that you are seeing the values and the pitfalls of social media and that you are setting the example by finding balance that works for you then living it. I will patiently look forward to your posts whenever they come. I know there is a price to pay for that as a You-tuber and I admire you.
    One more note: You look good in glasses. Somehow I sense you’re eyes are not fully focused when you don’t wear them.

    This year I started to put my ToDo List and goals at one of these albums with plastic pockets. As in these crazy times my plans depends mostly from extra time and lack of money, when situation change I'm able to move tasks forward or to drag something from most distant plans which will fits to the present free time. This makes my journal to looks more pretty, without torn pages or draw arrows.

    I'm really happy to see your love of analog has grown into photography. I got back into analog photography 5 years ago after putting it down upon the arrival of all the canon dslr in 2010. I love digital for gig and practicality on low budget motion picture production, but I adore film. The pace and thoughtfulness that goes into shooting film is so nourishing. It's like a form of creative self care. Writing as well. I write all my first drafts of screenplays by hand. First in notes and random scenes on legal pads. Then once I have a substantial work I put full draft into a journal. Make a wave of correction and then hit the keyboard.

    What i love most about this channel is that it isn't d usual cliche content every self development channel has to offer! They r repetitive in wat dey put out to a point where u lose interest in it! But the content on this channel is well thought off n is practical! Dats wat I love! He is so genuine n raw ! It feels gud to follow his journey n get better along d way with him! His ideas n beliefs changes wid time n that is a thing I can relate to d most ,obviously which d other channels lack( they act like they know everything already)! Most of the things you mentioned were practices I already apply in my life, and at the same time, I learned near things. Shared it with friends who are also using Skillshare, and I hope they watch it too and learn from you.
