This is truly one of the best done sewing videos I've ever seen -- even better than many, many television shows. It was filmed beautifully, so it was easy to see the parts of the machine as it was threaded, and the instructions were clear and confident. At this very minute, my serger is laying dormant after I failed in threading the needless. I am taking my laptop to the sewing room and watching this again step by step. A heartfelt thankyou to Sewing Parts Online!
As a person who watches as many of the UA-cam sewing tutorials as possible, I can honestly say that this video is one of the best videos online. I'm finding the same with your other videos. Thanks.
Thank you so much for making this video. I got my serger two weeks ago and it has been in time out ever since. I am no longer angry with it and have completed my first project since viewing this tutorial two hours ago. I can't thank you enough.
I have a serger just like that for two years now and I could never thread t, but I think your video just helped figured out what I was doing wrong! Thank you very very much
Our store currently sells 20 different sewing machines, and we are constantly adding more to our inventory. I, personally, have 4 sewing machines. And I love them all!
Thank you so much for this fantastic and so thorough tutorial!!! 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻 My dear girl blessings to you forever!🤗 I bought this serger machine from a dear lady, that had too much trouble threading it. She told me that for the time she owned it, she only used it with just one "thread" as a regular sewing machine. I am new to this machine, and plan to learn to use and enjoy it. You have been so, so very helpful, with this step by step tutorial.
I just wanted to tell you, THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR TEACHING ME HOW TO DO THIS! My husband bought this machine for me 2 years ago for my birthday and because I was so intimidated by it, I never used it. Now I am totally in love with it and keep a shortcut on my desktop to coach me everytime I use it. Thank you once again.
Janice So easy to follow your instructions. Bought my machine about 4 years ago. Managed to follow manual instructions but it took me so long I gave up and put the machine in a cupboard. Now we are threaded and ready to go. Thankyou for your easy to follow tutorial.
Love you so much 💗,I have taken my overlock machines to 2 designers all couldn't thread it thanks to UA-cam I found this video and I'm able to do the magic personally 🤩🥰
2023 and this video has helped so much. Brand new serger out of the box, first time threading, and it was up and running in 20 minutes. Eternally grateful for this video.
I have the same serger as you and it came threaded. I failed to put the presser foot down and the thread broke!!! Tried and tried and tried to rethread using the manual. Was ready to return the machine and give up. Then I found this video!!! It took me a few more tries, but I've got it now!!!! Successfully rethreading one time was all the confidence I needed. Thank you so much!!
Thank god that people like you exist. I just got my new machine, its the same as yours but from a diffrent company and the instrucions are so bad that I didn't understand anything... THANK YOU SO MUCH !
im new to sewing and starting with a serger, it came spooled and threaded but i went and threaded it today and made a few mistakes, some i corrected before i turned it on but i had some thread misplaced. the manual was confusing so i youtube searched and your video confirmed exactly what i thought i was supposed to be doing. i went back, did it again and now its working. thanks!
Thank you so much you have saved my sanity! I tried to thread my machine for two hours before finding this and then did it straight away with your video
Thank you so much for doing this. I bought a serger quite some time ago with both fond and trepidatious memories of high school sewing classes. I have avoided using it out of fear about threading the machine. This was sooooo helpful!
I just got a singer serger. The original owner never figured out how to thread it before she passed away suddenly. Everyone I’ve talked to has told me how hard it is to thread so your video has made it a lot less scary!!
Thank you so much for giving a visual guide, I tried all day 2 years ago and I even carried it back to the store no one knew how to thread the lower looper. The machine didn't come with a book, don't know why I didn't think to look on the web, Thank Jesus I'm sewing again!
Thanks for this video.. Very informative for someone that had a serger dropped in her lap and trying desperately to figure out how to use it.. Your video is very good... I am sure I will look for more videos from you.
Thank you! I spent 3 hours trying to thread my Alfa serger last night after changing the needle.I just watched your video once and have seen where I was going wrong.
Brilliant, just bought one of these and had no idea how to thread it even following the instruction book. I have now saved this to favourites as I'm sure I'll need a refresher.
Thank you, oh thank you. I have been battling with my machine for the past few days. I have rethreaded it over and over again but it hasn't come right. I figured I would invest 10 minutes and follow you and hey presto it worked. I have no idea what I did wrong but thanks!!!
Fantastic thank you I spent 4hrs + trying to thread my Millepunti by Necchi DF4 Professional Overlocker watched your video twice and tadda I now have a threaded working machine my problem was the lower needle but not any more so a BIG THANK YOU
I have had my serger for 15 or more years I think it has been used 2 times because I could never thread it. I found this video and was able to thread and use it for the first time. Thank you
Thank you such for this tutorial. I had been battling with the lower loop thread and the pictures in my manual didn't help. I did a quick search for a tutorial and yours was the first I saw and alas my problem was solved. I have rolled hem my skirt.
Wow Thank you!!!!! This tutorial is great! Felt a bit list with the owners manual and then found this vid. I followed you step by step, paused a couple time and .....waaalaaa it's threaded. Thank you again :)
thank you soooo much, you are angel sent from heaven!i was trying to do it by myself while reading the manual and i wanted to explode of anger. thank you for this tutorial!!!!!!
excellent tutorial and video production - I was struggling with the 'easy' part of threading my NEW Singer serger. I threaded and used my first, ancient Singer serger, no problem. Then learned to sew 20 minutes later on my new Brother sewing machine. But for some reason, threading through the back hooks below the cones of this new Singer serger was giving me a tad bit o' trouble. Thank you for this!
OMG! Thanks for this video. I spent over an hour trying to thread my machine. The instruction manual didn't help much, especially threading the lower looper.
Thank you so much for this concise tutorial!!! I do not use my serger very often and it seems to always be a battle of wills, to get it to cooperate. Thank you for pointing out the different levels of the needles and for showing the threading. I had been trying to thread my lower looper first. Threading the upper looper first, and pulling each thread under the foot was the key. I cannot thank you enough!
Thank you so much! This is the first time I'm using my overlock machine and the black and white instruction manual just didn't help at all. But you did, so thank you very much :-)
Thank you so much for taking the time to make this video. I was able to thread the machine and fix the tension with your really clear informative explanation xx
Thank you so much, I bought this Serger and, with your help, was able to easily thread what I thought would be a nightmare. It turned into an easy task. The manual pictures were very hard to understand.
Thank you. Your video helped a lot! I bought my daughter a serger but every time that the serger looses its threading she brings it back to me to thread. I like your idea about labeling the components of the machine.
AWESOME instructional video, I certainly appreciated the way you edited the video so there was minimal camera movement... that makes me so dizzy :/ Your descriptions and guidance were very informative and helpful, THANKSl! :)
Wow! This was my first time having to thread my serger, and I was scared. This tutorial made it so easy. Thank you so much for zooming in and showing everything step by step. :)
Thank you so much! We have the exact same machine. I swear the instruction manual's pictures for the lower looper looked nothing like what you just did! I would have NEVER figure it out!
It is an exceptionally good tutorial and like you I have had difficulties in reconciling the instruction manual diagrams to the the machine. I do wonder if Singer could have made the workings of the machine more difficult to access and thread!
Thank you so much for posting this video. I've referred to it a number of times and always so grateful that it's here. I've purchased some Singer serger parts as well as Viking parts from sewingpartsonline and I love your available parts and fast service!
Thank you for your comments! We are glad you find the videos helpful. If you need any assistance locating more parts, please do not hesitate to contact us!
Thank you for this instruction video. I do not think that I am a stupid person, even though I have just spent 2hrs trying to thread my Singer and failing. I have waited so long to have a serger and was so frustrated at not being able to "set it up".
Thank you for teaching us how to thread the serger! You did a great job with explaining each step, very clear and you helped me fix what I couldn't(even with the book in front of me)and trying to follow the printed diagram on the inside of the machine. :)
Thanks for the great tutorial. I have an older singer serger-overlock that I was having the darndest time getting it threaded muchless to run a lock stitch. But with your video I got the thing threaded and working great! Thank you a thousand times!!!
I love your patience and teaching methods. Would you PLEASE make a video on how to thread the 5 thread singer professional 5? It is a nightmare to thread.
Thank you so, so, much for this very well detailed and presented video. I am new to using a serger/overlocker, and I have this very same one that you are demonstrating on. The first time I used it, the bottom looper thread burst, and I was having a challenging time re-threading it. The instructions and diagram on the machine confused me as to where I had to run the thread when I came close to the presser foot area. After watching this video, I realized that I was putting the thread in the wrong groove.
OMG! Yes! It certainly was! I was like, isn't this manual supposed to explain properly what needs to be done? But instead it confused the hell out of me! LOL! Thanks again for this video. :)
Thank you so much for this. If you're taking questions for video ideas, I just can't seem to keep my loopers threaded. Most of the thread paths are fine, but it's just the last hole for both that give me trouble. The part that makes me feel crazy is that the thread isn't breaking. It still continuing to come out -- it's just somehow managed to magically pull itself out of the hole with leaving any trace as to how. I've owned my serger for 24 hours and I thought I was doing so well yesterday at learning how to thread it -- then once I started trying to figure out the tension, it all went down hill. I can't keep it threaded, and even when I do, it's not chaining at all.
Oh no! I'm so sorry you're having trouble! This could be a pretty detailed discussion - would you mind emailing me at sarah (at) sewingpartsonline.com so we can figure this out together?

This is my favorite video tutorial ever. I have the same machine.
Thanks! Had to refresh my memory because I kinda forgot the simple steps because I haven't used mine in a while.
Devante Bailey It's definitely a lot to remember!
Our store currently sells 20 different sewing machines, and we are constantly adding more to our inventory. I, personally, have 4 sewing machines. And I love them all!
I have a hobby lock 774 serger? How do I thread? What king of needles do I use?

I finally got a serger for Christmas this year and while I have the hand book; watching the tutorial helped solidify all information.
Congrats on your new serger! I'm so glad the videos help!
Thank you so much for doing this. I bought a serger quite some time ago with both fond and trepidatious memories of high school sewing classes. I have avoided using it out of fear about threading the machine. This was sooooo helpful!
Singer's manual was making me cry, then I found this video. You're a life saver!!!
