As a new Shetland Sheepdog owner, Molly is 7.5 months old, I found this video very helpful. Question: If both of Molly's parents tested "clear" for MDR1, does that mean she is "clear" as well? I have thought about doing a genetic test on Molly even though she was just spayed so breeding will not happen. However, if her parents were tested and are "clear" or "low risk" for everything, is there any point in having Molly tested?
Lastly, prior to Molly's spay I trained her using your pill giving technique (video: "Give Medications on Cue") which made giving her meds after her spay super easy. Every pill was taken with no hesitation. Thanks so much for making both of our lives so much easier!

If neither parent has the MDR1 mutation then Molly will not have the mutation either, you are correct!
You will need to check into the other things the parents were tested for as it depends on whether those issues are recessive or dominant traits etc You can also ask your veterinarian if it's worth considering any genetic testing for your individual dog if you aren't sure!
You just made my day with the feedback on my video teaching you how to get your dog to take medication on cue! How wonderful!!! And huge kudos to you for teaching it to your dog so well! Great work 🙌

It seems that herding breeds are more susceptible to many things; even behaviorally (where herding breeds are somewhat more likely to suffer from separation anxiety and noise sensitivities). Are good breeders aware of this and taking steps to correct it?

Yes, as we learn more about how/why these things happen, there are breeders who will work on reducing frequency and/or severity of the concern.
That said, I should also mention that nearly every dog breed I spot will immediately bring to mind common medical issues for that breed... This is an issue across the board, and frankly the brachycephalics are by far and away the worst offenders when it comes to having incredibly common and serious medical issues that harm their quality of life from the moment they are born.

Hello, i would really appreciate some advice on the following subject.
There a lot of sources that describe the pro. of feeding the dogs a raw tripe, on the other hand there are a lot of other sources that there con's are the bacteria issues.
Especially i am confused about pork raw tripe.

I've summarized the decades of research on raw pet food in this video:
      ua-cam.com/video/o_m8PrwQjnw/v-deo.htmlsi=2wsm7-F23EUNYjC6
Tl/dr raw is never appropriate to feed due to the nutritional imbalances and dangers to the animals and all the people who interact with those animals.
