    You have a new offensive coordinator, 2 new receivers, one being a rookie, a new running back and to top it off a new quarterback, also a rookie running the show. THEY NEED TO BUILD CHEMISTRY. IT TAKES TIME. Even though you risk injury, I would have played the 1st string offense another 40-50 snaps in pre season to build more of it. It’s a trade off of healthy players versus building chemistry. They’ll figure it out in the next few weeks. Until then, defense and special teams will keep us in the game as the offense improves. GO BEARS!!!🏈🐻

      @mgo4917 I think caleb win made it 3-18 or so for week 1 rookies. so it's almost impossible to win week 1 statistically. and greats like Elway were 1-8 and benched. so week 1 I hoped to see good positives and no doofus throws. I saw a nervous kid who I THIIIINK has a lot of the tools needed to be great. can the bears polish him up and not be terrible? I can only hope

      That’s all you can do. If folks were expecting a 300 yard, 3 TD game from his in week 1 against that defensive front that’s just preposterous.

    I think we are all SEVERELY UNDERESTIMATING how much energy that day had. Caleb's WHOLE LIFE led up to his first NFL start. Let's give the kid some grace. The ice is broken and now we see the real CW18.

    I'll be concerned if we don't see substantial improvements by week 4 or 5. I wasn't expecting him to be MVP his rookie year but at least a 10-15 ranking at QB.

      I couldn't agree more. I said before season started that it will take Caleb and the offense until around the Panther game, to when it starts to get going. Hopefully the bears can be at 2-2 or better going into that game.

      This. And Elway was worse in his first game. Peyton was really bad his whole first season. My concern isn’t Caleb for now, but the offensive line.

    I'm excited that Darrell Taylor played as well as he did! That gives me a lot of confidence that this defense can actually be a top 10, and maybe even top 5 defense. I'm more concerned about the offensive line and lack of running game than Caleb. Hopefully we don't have any more games with offensive linemen on the ground on every other play!

    Caleb hopefully will be fine but, all Sunday told us was what a lot of us knew this whole time. You don't walk into the NFL as a rookie QB and not go threw growing pains. Too many fans built him up to unreasonable proportions.

    It’s week 1 and defenses are ahead right now. That’s just how it is. Look around the league outside of a few games no one was really lighting it up. Bears need to run the ball more, line needs some more time together and Caleb needs more actual game experience and he’ll be fine. The best thing to take away is the defense is still that defense that took over second half of the season. So you know the Bears will always atleast be in a game.

    I wasn’t surprised. I’ve seen a lot of Bears QBs over the years. The preseason told me that the offense was going to have trouble. Caleb got, what, 45 snaps all preseason? If you’re going to start your rookie day one, he needs reps, FGS. I was ready for a rocky start, I just expected Caleb to make a big play or two with his arm.

    The dude just made his first start in the NFL, in front of a SCREAMING home crowd. I won't call it nerves, but he absolutely, 100% had pure adrenaline pumping through him. There's a reason first game rookie QBs don't do well (or almost ever win), and it's not all because the team is bad. No worries at all.

  • @alchemist78

    Shane Waldron’s coaching tree and success at Seattle had me excited but I’ll admit the play calling looked predictable and unimpressive. But it’s one game. I still like the guy. As for CWs I honestly think he was jittery and not mentally settled into the game. There’s no way he’s that inaccurate. Expect him to bounce back this week. Liked no turnovers at least that is something.

  • @curtisb8557
    @curtisb8557 6 днів тому

    I knew Caleb was doubtful to light it up week 1 but i had hope when the first drive started
    the reality is game 1 day 1 rookie qbs usually ubderperform with the learning curve. its faster and the defense changes its appearance 2 or more times before the snap
    i expected maybe 17-29 with 0 or 1TD and multiple turnovers. with idk, maybe 200 passing yards.
    i did not expect such low output, but i saw things i liked. i saw footwork i didnt like. i saw errant throws. but i saw other stuff that excited me.
    caleb is a pass first qb, even when he was very uncomfortable week 1. and that bodes well comparwd to fields who i would beg to throw the ball, as i witnessed a 16 yard run, frustrated, knowing it would end without a TD, his arm was not great enough/ he wasnt able to out play the terrible coaching
    i love fields, but his 4th quarter "vibe" or whatever, was the opposite of how i felt with tom brady growing up. ZERO confidence. and thats definitely not all on fields. year 1 had the cap hell also etc

  • @adamjohnson5307
    @adamjohnson5307 6 днів тому

    I was thinking the same thing. It was a hideous game no doubt but he didn’t throw any picks. And he did move the ball to get those few FGs and the 2pt conversion. I’m not gonna sit here and act like that’s enough to win 10-13 games a year but the guy played his first NFL start against a pretty nasty defensive front and only was sacked twice. Now if he’s still playing like this come week 4-5 I’ll be slightly worried. And even then I’m not expecting consistent 275+ yard games from that point either. Just obvious growth. We shouldn’t be expecting the world from a rookie QB. Occasionally you luck up with a CJ Stroud type of season but it’s pretty rare.

    You have a quaterback right now that is on bears roster that has alot more talent then Caleb Williams. Tyson Bagent all ready showed he has what it
    takes to start and win now. Let Caleb learn in practice and Let Tyson win the Games.

      @@Roclemente1 thats not what that says to me. zero concern doesnt mean that he played flawless. zero concern in this context means to me that this doesnt change how i felt about Caleb pre and post draft. he is a rookie, starting his first game. he wasnt BAD, just off the mark. he could have easily been in the 200 + yards with multiple TDs BUT he wasnt clicking as expected. What we saw pre draft is still there though. Concern will creep in if it stays static and nothing changes. but one game? let alone rookie opening season game? which is HISTORICALLY not going to be a good game for him? yeah i have zero concern as well.
