Simple instructions for getting started testing blood sugar with Walmart's Relion Platinum blood glucose test kit. Includes instructions for using the lancet device.
I truly appreciate this video! Nothing in the box describes how to assemble & use the lancet device! Even looking the kit online only tells you to use the lancet device, but nothing more. You saved me a huge amount of stress! THANK YOU SO MUCH!
Thank you so much for making this video. You explained everything so well. I purchase it after my other meter gave me a 293 fasting, I couldn’t believe it and tested again and it gave me a 173, and than a 143. Something told me to get a different meter and I purchase this one, it gave me a 108.
Thank you so much. This is all new to me. The instructions were not helpful, but your video was wonderful, and got me through my first test with confidence!
Interestingly, it appears the ReliOn Platinum meter is a rebranded Accu-Chek Instant meter. The Accu-Chek Instant does not seem to be sold in North America or Australia, only in Europe and Asia. But to get an Accu-Check meter and test strips for these prices is a fantastic bargain! Thank you Roche and Walmart!
You rock, thank you. First test reading is down - 120 thanks to you... otherwise I'd still be trying to prick my finger without a spring loaded needle. Thank you.
Thank you for sharing, I appreciate, and I also have a question. My brother was just told he has diabetes, and this is the device he bought. So far, we have only used it twice, once before dinner and once a couple hours after dinner. Before dinner said 175 and after dinner said 325, so I want to know if this thing clears its self out or does it add up the numbers from each test because this just seems wrong
The review was very helpful. I just had my first blood sugar test. The first two reading got me an Err 4 message. I googled it, and it said that it was not enough blood for the test. 120 for the third reading one hour after my first meal. How often should I check my blood glucose levels? I am close to pre-diabetes levels and have a type-2 in the close family. Thank you for your time and effort!
At first, I would test at least 4 times a day (upon waking and 2 hours after each meal) to get a good feeling of your blood sugar during the day. It is also a good idea to keep track of your physically activity and food intake. Once you have a feeling for how lifestyle changes affect your blood sugar you probably only need to check once a day to track your progress.
I just got this for my mom as I like the range feature but I noticed it reads higher than the Freestyle Lite meter. I mean the difference is HUGE. Same finger, 2 different devices with different readings. Idk why but be careful.
I cannot find replacement lancets for the platinum lancer. The only ones that I see are for the other versions of the lancer. But the shank of the lancet that fits into the spring grip is too big. The platinum one is thin with two ridges on opposite sides of the needle's shank. Any suggestions? Thanks.
I have a 200 count box of ReliOn Ultra-thin lancets (30 Gauge) and they work in the Platinum lancet device. They do not look like the lancets included in the kit, but they fit and work properly.
I just bought 100 lancets relion micro-thin lancet 33 gauge ,is that work? This is the first time I buy the kit and the extra lancets. is this still work for relion platinum?
Hi Josh. I’m a newcomer with very high results. Today I’ve taken my first test and it says HIGH but does not give me a number!! What to do??? Need that number multiple times daily.
The green zone defaults to 70-180 mg/dL. You can personalize the green zone using the app or connecting to a pc with the appropriate diabetes management software.
Hello, could you please help me to explain how to activate the Bluetooth option?. Please 🙏🏻😅. I have read the manual, and I couldn't find that option. Thank you in advance.
If you call the phone number on the back of the meter they will send you a free bottle of control solution. I am working a video that will show you how to use it.
Bought this today took reading before lunch reading of 101. Tried again 30 min after dinner 101 again. Seems odd both exactly the same reading. Any thoughts on why that might be?
Is anyone having any similar issues as myself? I bought the Reli On platinum glucose metre and it came with some sample lancets. The lancets that come inside the box with the glucose metre or perfect But of course you have to purchase new ones and for the life of me I cannot find the exact same ones anywhere. The ones that came in the box with the glucose metre actually make a small prick. And it actually draws blood. So when I bought two different kinds - ultra thin and extra thin, instead of creating a prick it looks like it drags. Like it actually drags on my finger. Now mind you I press the device up against my finger so it's not like it is floating and moving around with my hand movements but for whatever reason as soon as the needle hits my finger instead of a prick it creates a long dragging cut which then spreads the blood out over an area versus creating a droplet which then causes my reader not to be able to capture enough blood. I would love to know how to get those lancets that come with the package and apparently I'm not the only one I was looking at the boxes at Walmart to see if it any chance told you which ones they are and they were all opened and all of them were missing the lancets so it seems to me that people are stealing the lancets from the box because everyone knows those are the best.
Unfortunately someone stole the control fluid from mine. I didn't notice until after I used it. I am having issues with the results being way higher than my old meter..well over 100. I think I'll stick with my old meter.
Cheap meter and my experience very unreliable results I get results that are 60+ points higher than with better quality brands. Even back to back results with this meter gives huge differences in readings again in my experience 50+ points difference with tests within 1 to 2 minute of each other with this machine its better than nothing if you don’t have insurance but there are companies that will provide anyone with or without insurance free meter and all supplies free of charge
Here's a video talking about the Relion Platinum Control Solution. ua-cam.com/video/shJUuyyaZFE/v-deo.html
Excellent presentation, thanks for being so thorough, and not rushing through video, as so many people on UA-cam do.

Just bought one. And really don't like reading instructions. Thank you for making this so easy for me to understand. ❤
Glad it was helpful!

Thank goodness for UA-cam. Simple & straight to the point. Thank you😊
❤I loved it to. For my first time using it
Thanks explaining the process! It was quite detailed and I don’t have a question about the process. This is my first time having to check my glucose.
Thank you so much. This is all new to me. The instructions were not helpful, but your video was wonderful, and got me through my first test with confidence!
Thank you for your video. I wasn’t using it correctly but now I will after watching it. It was well done 👍

Thank you. My bloodsugar was h9gh and I couldn't read the small instructions so this helped me in a pinch.
Thank you for the set mode walk through.
I was doing this for my dad and had me stumped….
Again, great video n great job explaining it all.
Glad it helped!

Should I be fasting when I take my blood with this machine like I was going to the doctors?

I agree with Pharmacist Tips--ReliOn Ultra-Thin Lancets-30 gauge work great in the ReliOn Platinum.
I just bought 100 lancets relion micro-thin lancet 33 gauge ,is that work? This is the first time I buy the kit and the extra lancets. is this still work for relion platinum?
Thank you for the demonstration - very helpful
Great, nicely explained step by step..
Glad it was helpful!
Thank you so much, god bless you 😊
Thanks for the review.....I have the older one from Relion.....how often should you get a new meter?
General recommendation is about every 4 to 5 years, sooner if you feel the readings are not always accurate.
Thank you so much for the video 🙏🏻

Hello there thank you 😊 for this videos
we need to calibrate the meter?
What about the battery?
I'll include using control solution and changing the battery in a future video, thanks for watching!
Thank you for the review. It was very helpful.
Glad it was helpful!
Just had to go get my first one today, 59 years old try to take care of myself and now this.
Best of luck! let me know if you have any questions.
what do you mean 180 is in the green zone? Anything over 126 (or close to that) is high.
The green zone defaults to 70-180 mg/dL. You can personalize the green zone using the app or connecting to a pc with the appropriate diabetes management software.
180 is a very high fasting number, but is okay for after a meal with substantial carbohydrates. Under 170 is better.
Hello, could you please help me to explain how to activate the Bluetooth option?. Please 🙏🏻😅. I have read the manual, and I couldn't find that option.
Thank you in advance.
Thank you for this video 👍
Is it possible to delete a reading? I forgot to wash my hands and had some sugar on my finger from some peppers I was dicing.
Could you please explain about of control solution where I can buy and how can I use ?
If you call the phone number on the back of the meter they will send you a free bottle of control solution. I am working a video that will show you how to use it.
Thank you for sharing this. It is most helpful.
Glad it was helpful!
I bought it yesterday and today it doesn’t turn on 😢
Do you think it’s the battery?
Does it work on the forearm?
Is it suppose to b charged by me?
Bought this today took reading before lunch reading of 101. Tried again 30 min after dinner 101 again. Seems odd both exactly the same reading. Any thoughts on why that might be?
No es normal 😮

2 hours
How many times to use same lancet?
Thank you
Do you change lancet every time?
Yes
wonderful video and very logical to follow. 😎 Thanks a lot.
You are welcome
Thank you for this!
How often do the lancets need to be replaced?
It is recommended that you use a new lancet each time.
How often should you change the lancet needles?
It is recommended you use a new one each time.
@@PharmacistTips Thank you!
The lancet is the needle, right?
The strip is what measure the sugar. Is that the one that goes is the glucometer?
My meter when I turn it on it never says that machine is ready for test the little icon never comes on
I just bought this at Walmart im getting error how come
