The best review on this RC to date, I ordered one off of their website for 159.99 instead of Amazon. This will be the first RC that i own that is smaller than 1/7 scale, i prefer larger RC's for the speed, but this thing's performance is awesome and you can't beat the price!
Evan, I was excited when I heard you got one of these, and always excited to see your new uploads. I 100% agree with your thoughts on this buggy. It was also great to see you running this on different terrain! Rlaarlo has definitely raised the bar. Would love to see a proper SC truck from them and a 1/10 MT as well. Hopefully it in their line up of things to come.! Great job on this video! I love the special effect inserts. It looks awesome!
Super fun review as always man! Small correction. This platform was created by LC Racing with the 1/14 scale emb-1 buggy which WLtoys cloned as the 144001. When I first got back into RC years ago my first car was a LC Racing emb-sct so I'm a big fan of their models to which I now own four of. All of them are high quality and all come with slipper clutches and sealed diffs. They also offer some of the models as kits which I love. They are more expansive though so I'm ultimately glad that WlToys and others have cheaper options so more people can enjoy the fun of RC.
Thanks! Gotcha! Now this is bigger than the 144001, which I do have, however this 12xxxx is very similar, just larger lol. Did any of the WLs have slippers? I couldn’t find it in my research, but I’m just glad they’re using better materials than WL lol
@@DerbyCityRC I was super glad when this came out as I have been rocking a WLToys 124016 and it's fantastic for small jumps, running on dirt and gravel, etc but the durability is nothing like what we have with the Rlaarlo and the price jump isn't very significant right now while the Rlaarlo is at it's launch price. They're a sort of similar platform but I don't really think there are many parts that would interchange between the 124016 and the Rlaarlo. Despite the similar aesthetic, this seems to be a ground up creation pretty much.
Great job as always. The buggy looks nice and seems to perform quite nicely. It took some abuse down the gravel road. The best part of the video was your ramp mastery. Perfect landings.

I've got one and it's been pretty solid aside from being a little narrow. Took the tire off the rear and replaced it with a wing. Experimenting with different tires and suspension set-up in an effort to give it some better cornering stability. Rlaarlo kicks ass and they listen which is why they've become one of my favorites.

Ha ha, first time I've seen speed bumps on a dirt road... Yeah, the video did put a smile on my face, it's always great watching your stuff... Looks like a cool buggy, definitely got some nice features, looks like a lot of fun!
OK Rlaarlo! We see you! Still one question that I haven't found the answer to: is that thing on 10th scale sct wheels? If so, I think that adds to its potential cause the market is flooded with sct parts.
Awsome video like always I have the 1/12 buggy from them I like it was thinking about one these might just try convert my buggy with cage have great day
Being so narrow its a perfect canidate to extend the axles 20mm per side. For the diff some aluminum rings slide over wouldve helped avoid the break you saw. Take about 5 mins to turn 4 rings on pretty much any lathe before driving it hard. Would love to know how fast it is on a good 3s pack. Oh and great editing! Truely enjoy these videos for their genuine fun that doesn't feel forced.

How would you say it stacks up against the hbx2995? Hoping this release sends the price on those down... might grab another and go straighy to brushless upgrade.
I think over time the 2995/2996a will be more durable. Likely easier to get parts for this buggy since it’s WL toys based. @@DerbyCityRC I used Davinci Resolve because it's free and powerful. I get myself dazed and confused in it though. I'm editing on a laptop and it is SLOW and not enough screen real estate.
@@DerbyCityRC I have a Lenovo Yoga laptop: 11th Gen Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-1185G7 @ 3.00GHz with 16 GB of RAM. I think for editing you should have at least 32 GB of RAM. On my 14" laptop screen, the timeline and other whatsits take up 80% of the screen, so the video I'm working on is tiny.
Any chance of a video when you repair the cup, recently got one and broke the front cup myself. Can't figure out how to order that part as it's not listed on their website.
Not sure what or when the next video on this one will be, but I did find the full differential on this site: rlaarlo.com/?ref=ml6gV9o7 The only one listed for 1/12 scale I saw. That’s what I got for a replacement. Use just the cup and keep the rest for parts, or go ahead and replace the whole thing and keep the old one for parts. 😃
Can you recommend a wheel spacer kit? I think it’s also known as a hex wheel extension kit? These axles do not have axle pins and the kits online are incompatible with this car.
Hi do you no what program card can be used on this ? because on mine the brakes are way to strong out the box for me 😂 really like this RC it’s mint 👌👍🏻
Another top draw review of a smaller scale RC car. The diff cup breakage can be forgiven in my opinion as I doubt this rig is really made for front flips onto concrete. But Id expect you to do it in the name of testing the durability. Thanks for a great review bro 😂😊
Thanks! Exactly! A lawn chair may hold a 400 pound gorilla, but it’s definitely getting squashed by Godzilla! Breakage doesn’t always mean weak on this channel 🤣 I do try to convey that usually lol
@TheflyingkiwiRC thanks! I felt duped into buying my first big RC purchase (JLB Cheetah) and don’t want to do that to anyone so I do the reviews how I’d like to see them. Out of all of the RCs I’ve got, the cheetah is the junkiest by far lol On a completely different note… Wanna buy a JLB Cheetah roller? 😜🤣🤣
@DerbyCityRC the 14209 is okay from what I see.. I'm just not a huge fan of the body of that one. But I'll be watching your video on it to see how durable it is. Also be waiting to see once that video on the 14210 comes as well
I wasn’t a fan of the body either, but it grew on me a little bit. Comes with a set of bigger tires in the box as well and looks better with those too in my opinion.
@KnifeOnlyPhantom I’d probably pit it against the Rlaarlo Omni Terminator and the MJX 10208. Here’s a comparison video between those two trucks: ua-cam.com/video/nAqk3X6Royk/v-deo.htmlsi=-a5_dMKuhVWWcCLM
Wheel hex extensions, but they might be hard to find as these axles are thinner than most. Also could use the included droop screws to lower the ride height.
Wow thats fast!💪🏼 Can i use and and transfer my mjx 14301 parts to make the hbx 2996a 3S version and put the hbx 2996a parts to make the mjx 14301 2s? 😅😅 if its possible i will do it✌️❤️🔥
Think I could put the electronics from this on my HBX 2995? The rlaarlo frame keeps getting bent and I've been looking to do a brushless upgrade to the 2995.
Ya motor size is different b it not would probably still fit. I have a feeling it would be underpowered though. Did you see my recent brushless upgrade video on my 2997a? 2995 would be the exact same process.
That’s weird. It works here. The second link is for the whole website so you could search the model name if that one works. I also linked it on Amazon.
I almost never recommend WLToys. Horrible grade of plastic in my experience. While this is based off WL toys, they seem to have used better materials. I’d go with the hbx 2995 for the durability, and the rlaarlo for performance. Or could go with the hbx 2996a or 2997a for the best of both worlds and a similar price. I’ve got videos on both.
LC racing thought of that you mean? 😅 Wltoys is a clone of LC racing's 1/14 design. If you want a quality wltoys check out LC, much better quality all the way around. Love the channel, keep up the good work man.
Ya this is a year old video and I’m pretty sure I knew that at the time but didn’t think about it since I’ve never had an LC, which is lame, I know! 😂 Thanks dude!!
I do have this one on front flips. Definitely more like this eventually. Hopefully that’s helpful! ua-cam.com/users/shortsd2DopEG-nZw?si=cag-XQRVu0Sqs842
Thinking in grabbing this as first RV and old rounder for the good price and seems to be pretty solid? Or should I spend more money and go for something like an Arma typhon 3S? I feel like the bigger size makes it better to use everywhere? Or is this 1/12 big enough
This car is great, but something about a larger car is still better in a lot of situations. I always recommend having both as these are cheaper to repair usually lol
The metal is made out of glass 😅. Already broke a front axle and front diff output cup. Don't know how the one I video is holding up when I haven't even been on road yet and broke it in grass and dirt
Ya that’s not my experience, so I don’t know. I wouldn’t deem it as the most durable cheapish car, HBX has that spot claimed for now, but this was a decent RC I’m rather happy with.
Theyre lc racing coppies not wltoys wltoys 14th and 12th scale are also lc racing copies but these guys did it right like lc racing n use slipper clutch
optional sway bar on the wltoys 124 models how do u not have the 124008 buggy yet? all the youtubers raving about it. its an improved platform, but still a lot of the issues you show here
Thanks for the info! Mainly cuz that one looks like another HyperGo chassis and I got bored with that platform. I’ll probably end up with it eventually though lol.
@@DerbyCityRC all the hypergo's are 1/16 tho, except for that new 1/14th scale. the buggies are longer wheel base at 1/12 scale, and i think 124008 is about the 4th version. hopefully everyone that was using the 1/12 scale wltoys platform moves over to it soon
@@DerbyCityRC oh yeah and that plastic honeycomb chassis look is very similar to traxxas. but really its just new design techniques and so much cheaper - new xmax chassis $20 vs old metal $100
@@DerbyCityRC i'm glad wltoys are keeping a lot of the parts the same, makes upgrading easy. check out the k2 truggy shell for the 1/12 scale models. and the 1/16 monster truck tires work so nice on it (so do the cheap paddle tires)

Any chance of a video when you repair the cup, recently got one and broke the front cup myself. Can't figure out how to order that part as it's not listed on their website.
Not sure what or when the next video on this one will be, but I did find the full differential on this site: rlaarlo.com/?ref=ml6gV9o7
The only one listed for 1/12 scale I saw.
Unfortunately I haven’t looked into one for these axles yet. Let me know if you find one!
Hi do you no what program card can be used on this ? because on mine the brakes are way to strong out the box for me 😂 really like this RC it’s mint 👌👍🏻
Unfortunately I don’t know 🤣 I really liked the brakes 😆
Another top draw review of a smaller scale RC car. The diff cup breakage can be forgiven in my opinion as I doubt this rig is really made for front flips onto concrete. But Id expect you to do it in the name of testing the durability.
Thanks for a great review bro 😂😊
Thanks!
Exactly! A lawn chair may hold a 400 pound gorilla, but it’s definitely getting squashed by Godzilla!
Breakage doesn’t always mean weak on this channel 🤣 I do try to convey that usually lol
@@DerbyCityRC You weren't critical at all about the breakage bro. That's why your channel is a good one, your reviews are honest and balanced.
@TheflyingkiwiRC thanks! I felt duped into buying my first big RC purchase (JLB Cheetah) and don’t want to do that to anyone so I do the reviews how I’d like to see them. Out of all of the RCs I’ve got, the cheetah is the junkiest by far lol
On a completely different note…
Wanna buy a JLB Cheetah roller? 😜🤣🤣
Can't wait to see you do the new mjx 14210 seen someone get 50mph with 3s battery
Been waiting on that car for a good 2 months lol.
It will show up eventually lol
In the meantime, my 14209 vid is next 👍
@DerbyCityRC the 14209 is okay from what I see.. I'm just not a huge fan of the body of that one. But I'll be watching your video on it to see how durable it is. Also be waiting to see once that video on the 14210 comes as well
I wasn’t a fan of the body either, but it grew on me a little bit. Comes with a set of bigger tires in the box as well and looks better with those too in my opinion.
Did you do a review on the croboll buggy... Amazon
Yes I did
@@DerbyCityRC had my eye on that one for awhile now.
My favorite buggy for sure!
What a great car. Wondering how it would run on a 3S. Did you order a replacement part?
I agree. Yes new part is on the way and I’ll certainly do some stuff on 3s!
@DerbyCityRC forgot to mention I just bought one after i commented last night.. they need to give you some royalties 😆
@fearless3geclipse nice!
If you used the link I provided then I will 😜 😃😂
Your video kills me 😂😂😂
Haha! Thanks
Could I get a HPI TF50 controller and put the TF50 receiver in this?
No scratches means no fun plus i liked the video from the intro to the end of the video.
Exactly!
Thanks!!
@DerbyCityRC have you experienced any cogging or delay with the esc or anything?.
It’s been a while since I’ve driven this one, but I don’t recall this issue. Is it doing it in grass or also on concrete?
@@DerbyCityRC I was just curious because I want to get one
Oh ok! Definitely a fun truck. I do remember that lol
I'm looking at getting the AK917 and going for the 100mph club. A gear swap and 4S is all it needs. And skill. Nice buggy Rlaarlo!
Who makes the AK917? I'd be delighted to also hit the 100 mph club😎. Thank you!
Nice! I Havent gotten one yet but maybe one day!
It’s also Rlaarlo!
Here’s the link to the website: rlaarlo.com/?ref=ml6gV9o7
@@DerbyCityRC Thank you so much! After 2 months of my newly discovered addiction I may b adding a 4th RC to my lineup... lol
@@DerbyCityRC I just discovered the crawling world and might skip over the speed run stuff lol
Your son is so cool bro 💯💯😎😎🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
That is a cool buggy RLAARLO A-12 put a smile on your face 💯💯😁😁😂🤣😂🤣👍👍💥💥💥💥💥💥💥💥💥💥💥💥
Haha, thanks yes he is!
Absolutely!
What is the best RC purchasable at Amazone? If you could only pick one which would it be?
Lots of good choices. What price range you want to stay in?
@DerbyCityRC $300 Max
@@DerbyCityRC Thank you! I appreciate you taking out time to answer my question. I'll take a look at the video now.
@ you’re welcome!!
Nice video. With a 3s and upgraded to 27t pinion which is on their website gets 65 mph on a speed run. Lol.
Geeeez lol I definitely believe it, these things are packing power!
awesome intro. have you seen action movie kid videos? his dad works in the sfx industry
Thanks!
I haven’t. Just a channel called “action movie kids”?
I’ll check it out!
@@DerbyCityRC yep, viral videos from 2014, still hold their own
@shadyhazza sweet!
how could you fix the sideways flipping?
Wheel hex extensions, but they might be hard to find as these axles are thinner than most.
Also could use the included droop screws to lower the ride height.
Wow thats fast!💪🏼 Can i use and and transfer my mjx 14301 parts to make the hbx 2996a 3S version and put the hbx 2996a parts to make the mjx 14301 2s? 😅😅 if its possible i will do it✌️❤️🔥
just change the whole electronics on the hbx to convert it to 3s. wayyyyy too complicated I feel like idkkk
Gyro? Looks like the Dumbo X6FG remote/receiver
It is a dumbo, but I don’t recall this having a gyro.
Think I could put the electronics from this on my HBX 2995? The rlaarlo frame keeps getting bent and I've been looking to do a brushless upgrade to the 2995.
looks like a no. different motor size.
Ya motor size is different b it not would probably still fit. I have a feeling it would be underpowered though. Did you see my recent brushless upgrade video on my 2997a? 2995 would be the exact same process.
I'll check it out, thanks!
You’re welcome!!
Woop
Haha!
I heard it's slower than advertized
Thats the truth of many RC cars advertised speed. I did a speed test on this hideous I believe. Dont remember what it got.
Nice
Que sabes del Omni terminator de rlaarlo?
That it looks cool as heck and there is one on the way to my house (supposedly).
Genial, como lo compraste, no puedo
They’re sending it to me to review. Not sure what the actual release date is.
It does look super promising!
@@DerbyCityRC gracias
Estoy por comprar el Rival MT10, crees que deba esperar a ver el Terminator rlaarlo o no crees que sea mejor?
I have a problem with an annoying sound in the servo Team Associated m10 Please find a solution
If the noise is in the servo, replace it with a better unit 👍
Oh I like that buggy, oh yes,😁😉,nice family, bro, honey I shrunk our son😱, lol🤣🤣
The link to this RC doesn't seem to work.
That’s weird. It works here.
The second link is for the whole website so you could search the model name if that one works. I also linked it on Amazon.
Wltoys 124016 Brushless V2 Buggy or HBX 2995 buggy or the Rlaario?
I almost never recommend WLToys. Horrible grade of plastic in my experience. While this is based off WL toys, they seem to have used better materials. I’d go with the hbx 2995 for the durability, and the rlaarlo for performance. Or could go with the hbx 2996a or 2997a for the best of both worlds and a similar price. I’ve got videos on both.
@@DerbyCityRC thx for the reply
and vids..!!
Clark Carol Rodriguez Angela Robinson Melissa
Do a video on how to jump rc cars... I can but not like that ;)
I do have this one on front flips. Definitely more like this eventually.
Hopefully that’s helpful!
ua-cam.com/users/shortsd2DopEG-nZw?si=cag-XQRVu0Sqs842
Awesome!!thanks😊
Thinking in grabbing this as first RV and old rounder for the good price and seems to be pretty solid? Or should I spend more money and go for something like an Arma typhon 3S? I feel like the bigger size makes it better to use everywhere? Or is this 1/12 big enough
This car is great, but something about a larger car is still better in a lot of situations. I always recommend having both as these are cheaper to repair usually lol
😂😂❤❤❤
🤣🤣
The metal is made out of glass 😅. Already broke a front axle and front diff output cup. Don't know how the one I video is holding up when I haven't even been on road yet and broke it in grass and dirt
Ya that’s not my experience, so I don’t know. I wouldn’t deem it as the most durable cheapish car, HBX has that spot claimed for now, but this was a decent RC I’m rather happy with.
Theyre lc racing coppies not wltoys wltoys 14th and 12th scale are also lc racing copies but these guys did it right like lc racing n use slipper clutch
I know that and I always forget to say this!
Thanks. Yes WL toys copied and uses cheap plastics and no slipper!
optional sway bar on the wltoys 124 models
how do u not have the 124008 buggy yet? all the youtubers raving about it.
its an improved platform, but still a lot of the issues you show here
Thanks for the info!
@shadyhazza ya that’s true. Pretty happy with the 1/14 hypergos so far too. I’m just glad to see things keep evolving!
@@DerbyCityRC oh yeah and that plastic honeycomb chassis look is very similar to traxxas. but really its just new design techniques
and so much cheaper - new xmax chassis $20 vs old metal $100
@@DerbyCityRC i'm glad wltoys are keeping a lot of the parts the same, makes upgrading easy. check out the k2 truggy shell for the 1/12 scale models. and the 1/16 monster truck tires work so nice on it (so do the cheap paddle tires)
💭🤔Great truck, but it doesn’t reverse well at all
Does it? I can’t recall its reversibility.

Too many options for too little bank account.
I hear ya! Definitely can get by without so many lol
Rlaaarlo slipper clutch are weak
Ya slippers are definitely a weak point on many cars. I haven’t had an issue on this one yet, but center differentials are much better!
