The reason a spoon is not the 'go to' eating utensil in 'Western Table Etiquette' for eating anything but soup and/or deserts, is the very reason you suggested they should be used, for their efficiency in getting food into your mouth. Using a spoon to eat, say Egg Fried Rice, would give the appearance that you need to 'shovel the food into your mouth' quickly, relaying the impression your appetite is insatiable or as commonly referred to, 'being a pig'. Great video!
Enjoying your commentary Anna. About that last joke where auntie Hersha Throws all that stuff into the wok: I laughed because I thought she was having a go at the whole hipster movement where people have gone overboard with the so-called fusion and sometimes have no context or understanding of the ingredients they are using and so it just becomes a mess. I don't use leftover rice, I use freshly cooked rice as I always finished the portion I cooked. However, after I cooked rice for fried rice purpose, I'll leave it air dry for half an hour. It is just as good as leftover rice. However, I tend to use long grain rice to cook fried rice. So far I've yet to master the skill of cooking fried rice by using Taiwanese/Japanese/Korean rice, the more sticky types.
At my school, I can’t use a spoon for rice since I can only get a fork and spoon. But I use spoon for desert, I think it’s really bad since the rice all falls off, but when I use the knife and fork it stays on.
Interesting fact because marmite has such a high amount of salt in it it’s a really good substitute for soy sauce if you don’t have any Soy suave just mix a little bit of it with some boiling water.
Oh and ALSO, as a person that HATES Marmite in general, my partner uses it as a kind of 'umami' flavour deepening seasoning in stocks, stews and most savoury meaty dishes and I gotta say it is actually REALLY good. You just gotta dilute it a little, maybe add some soy sauce too and don't skimp on the seasoning like chives onion and garlic. It probably doesn't taste as good as msg BUT it still improves the taste immensely.

Hi Anna, I really don't understand why some people hate Marmite. We Malaysian do put Marmite in our congee when we are too lazy to cook flavoured congee. Sometimes, we also just mixed it on hot plain water as soup.
BTW everyone I know (and I work in a professional kitchen) pronounces "risotto" the way Hersha did. The only other person I know that pronounces it your way is Gordon Ramsay
honestly it's not actually very difficult to do Rice in a pan if you don't have a rice cooker you just got to know exactly what to do when to do it. I used to have a rice cooker but it went to shot and so I'm going back to the old school way until I can afford a new rice cooker
This is interesting! I didn’t know who he is before 😂 and I agree every Asian I know has a rice cooker too. I think risotto [o] is American pronunciation 🤔🤔 that’s how I say risotto 😂😂
In the UK Asian used to mean from the sub-continent. It has shifted or starting to shift to being Chinese./Malayan/Korean/Japanese as those from the USA say. Most British Asians from the sub-continent are from North India via East Africa, and rice cookers are not found in their homes.
How am I only meeting Uncle Roger now??! 😂😂 and total side note, I never knew you could make rice using a pan! Only when I moved to the states where I got asked what my rice cooker was 😂😂

I think that's how indian cook rice... Like they will cook with lots of water n then drain the starchy water. The end result is a somehow fluffy rice... Not the firm rice in chinese fried rice
U guys doesnt even care about hygience surrounding. Then u claim that u guys was the first who introduce people on we should wash our rice first before cooking? I dont think so nathan. Sorry
when making fried rice we dry the rice too or just use stale rice. I think its more of a common sense thing, those chefs just do something like this foe a quick video i guess. Almost every household in india has a rice cooker.
WHAT??? - "The UK has a slight reputation for having the best food in the world"?! - This is outrageous! You nearly gave me a heart attack! You are listening to evil propaganda Anna 😮 - I lived in Manchester for a spell and the food was so horrible that I ended up living on KitKat and Onion Pies 😬 ...but as you correctly mention, Indian food in the UK is excellent. So whenever I wasn't too sick from the KitKat and Pies, I dragged myself to an Indian place and had a feast! Even the simplest dishes were delicious! - Has your father disowned you because of Jamie Oliver's bad Italian food? I enjoyed watching this, Niece Anna is delightfully honest 👍👏🙏 Thanks for the Ottogi Sesame Oil tip!
hey this is totally random but one time when I was homeless and I was making food in my camp I didn't have any way to eat the food but I had went to a circle k which is an American convenience store I don't know what you guys have in the UK or in Asia but I got 8 wooden coffee stirrers and a straw, you know like a plastic drinking straw actually got double that and I made a pair of chopsticks out of straws and coffee stirrers.
Sorry, part of my Australian heart dies whenever people suggest that Marmite is like Vegemite. When I lived in the UK people just say it all the time. They may share the same roots, but they are very different! Marmite has a wierdly sweet/salty flavour, but Vegemite is basically just salt on toast. But then, who believes that a nation that thinks it is acceptable to put marmalade on bread as a snack have distinguishing enough taste to tell the difference. The only thing that hurt more than "Marmite is the same as vegemite" is when they ask me "why aren't you a blonde surfer?" 에이구
Try Chicken tikka masala or Butter chicken if you haven't already i would say these two are the Indian chicken curry which i could say UK and US both get it right in terms of flavours.

honestly it's not actually very difficult to do Rice in a pan if you don't have a rice cooker you just got to know exactly what to do when to do it.
I used to have a rice cooker but it went to shot and so I'm going back to the old school way until I can afford a new rice cooker
I've been to India. Best Indian food i ever had was in LONDON, seriously in London. Cant remember the name but it was near landons.
I just love the 'Hiya' 😂
In some culture, draining the rice under water after it is cooked is a well know accepted technique to get rid of the Arsenic and other chemicals.
Asians talking about eating rice with a spoon.
Me as an asian: Eating rice with a chopstick. xD
A chopstick? ONE chopstick?
Blasphemy!
Me as an Indian: Eating with hands.
Hahaha this whole thread 😂
As an Asian, I also use spoon and fork to eat rice
@@johnkcutter9809 Same Brother, Sometimes hand, Sometime Spoon and Fork
you're the angel in my eye's.. 😍
This is interesting! I didn’t know who he is before 😂 and I agree every Asian I know has a rice cooker too. I think risotto [o] is American pronunciation 🤔🤔 that’s how I say risotto 😂😂
Oh right XD But she isn't American?? Haha 😂
In the UK Asian used to mean from the sub-continent. It has shifted or starting to shift to being Chinese./Malayan/Korean/Japanese as those from the USA say.
Most British Asians from the sub-continent are from North India via East Africa, and rice cookers are not found in their homes.
I love Auntie Hersha & Uncle Roger. 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
They're so funny together XD
How am I only meeting Uncle Roger now??! 😂😂 and total side note, I never knew you could make rice using a pan! Only when I moved to the states where I got asked what my rice cooker was 😂😂
Ahaha XD
Hi lovely really enjoy these videos from you. I found the last one funny so looking forward to watching this too. Ha when all the colanders fell out. Uncle Roger like rice 😂 i really like paella and biryiani. I have never been to a restaurant in london wow 2 hour wait. I have been to Jamie's Italian xx
You've never been to a London restaurant! If you ever need recommendations let me know :) Haven't all of Jamie's italians closed now? ☹️ xxx

I love the way you react on that video... ❤❤❤❤ Thanks a lot... & yea, you should react on the video where both of'em went to Chinatown for shopping... Both part 1 & 2... It'll be very enjoying to watch... Love you ❤❤❤. Stay safe... 👍👍👍👍✌✌✌
Thank you! And yes I'll be doing that soon :)
I think that's how indian cook rice... Like they will cook with lots of water n then drain the starchy water.
The end result is a somehow fluffy rice... Not the firm rice in chinese fried rice
I think you're right!
U guys doesnt even care about hygience surrounding. Then u claim that u guys was the first who introduce people on we should wash our rice first before cooking? I dont think so nathan. Sorry
@@mohammadfaeez8664 no need to be salty, just enjoy.
when making fried rice we dry the rice too or just use stale rice. I think its more of a common sense thing, those chefs just do something like this foe a quick video i guess. Almost every household in india has a rice cooker.
Isn't Marmite's slogan, "Either you like it or you don't", or something similar? Nice reaction video!!! And you got your 257th like!!! :)
You hate it or love it 😆 and thank you so much!
Love this Anna lady so much. :)
WHAT??? - "The UK has a slight reputation for having the best food in the world"?! - This is outrageous! You nearly gave me a heart attack! You are listening to evil propaganda Anna 😮 - I lived in Manchester for a spell and the food was so horrible that I ended up living on KitKat and Onion Pies 😬
...but as you correctly mention, Indian food in the UK is excellent. So whenever I wasn't too sick from the KitKat and Pies, I dragged myself to an Indian place and had a feast! Even the simplest dishes were delicious!
- Has your father disowned you because of Jamie Oliver's bad Italian food?
I enjoyed watching this, Niece Anna is delightfully honest 👍👏🙏
Thanks for the Ottogi Sesame Oil tip!
hey this is totally random but one time when I was homeless and I was making food in my camp I didn't have any way to eat the food but I had went to a circle k which is an American convenience store I don't know what you guys have in the UK or in Asia but I got 8 wooden coffee stirrers and a straw, you know like a plastic drinking straw actually got double that and I made a pair of chopsticks out of straws and coffee stirrers.
Blonde surfer 😂I'm sorry you get that. And I've never tried vegemite ever, but very much want to! Thank you for watching :)
Fellow Aussie here. Yes, vegemite is vastly better. Marmite is just too weak for me. 😂
Marmite is superior
Thats a very nice reaction video
Thank you!
Big ups for the sesame oil - so good!
So good :)
ooo love this !
💖
Try Chicken tikka masala or Butter chicken if you haven't already i would say these two are the Indian chicken curry which i could say UK and US both get it right in terms of flavours.
